I subscribe the Malaysia Netflix, and just change my dns for us content. No need vpn.

Since  Netflix is already available locally in Malaysia of course you don't need VPN to watch the local version of Netflix.

However the local version has  much less content compared to U.S version, that's where using VPN for U.S comes in.

So if you watch live TV news etc on Astro, Netflix cannot replace it.

Think of Netflix is Astro OD. All the TV Series (US) and some old movies.

Their catalog go way back to Season 1 so you can watch all the TV show that you want if you can find them.

No, there aren't apps like Netflix for the content you seek. For one, they are 2 separate things. Netflix hosts VOD (on demand play or pause)... You are looking for live TV (real-time action).. Stick to Astro for reliability. Other illegal means are usually less reliable. The really good ones aren't popular and are kept private, cuz if public, then crackdown begins or servers are overloaded. So you'd have to really hunt around for em. However, I assure you they exist.
