I'm getting Dolby Digital and 1080p with chromecast connected to Anthem Mrx receiver. Quite decent for a rm100+ device.

How do you drive a vehicle?

Hint: Need more specifics.. What devices are being used? Are they officially supported by Netflix? What have you done so far? Does your sound system support DD 5.1? etc... Can't read your mind.
For starters SG ≠ MY. SG also has a fibre broadband "No Contract 1Gbps at $59.99/mth (under RM200)".. This is bolehland and Netflix has barely settled and already the talks of censorship has begun. IMO, I'll believe it when I see it.  whistling.gif

I'm using a Sharp 630x with native Netflix App built into its Android TV and optical out to Anthem Mrx 500 AV Receiver with 5.1 speakers.

Just hooked it up yesterday, able to watch 4k Netflix with Maxis 10Mbps, but how do you know which show is able to allow 5.1 ?

If you have your Sharp TV already setup to output sound to Optical and your TV is a supported device by Netflix, then whenever you play a movie/TV series that has 5.1 sound, there will be an additional sound option available to select between Stereo and DD 5.1 + (the Language option at the bottom right of the screen).

I got it to work already, tried Narcos at 4k and DD5.1. I didn't have a selection but in the movie title it says 4k 5.1. I guess it's auto detect?

Does your AVR show 5.1? If it does, than everything is ok.

The language option I am referring to is already there from the beginning (somewhere at the bottom right of the screen).

It's just that if you have 5.1 setup, the extra selection will appear within that option, to switch between Stereo and 5.1)

Then again I am using Windows app for Netflix, maybe Android app is different.

Yes the Avr says 5.1. Also the rear speakers are working in tandem with the rest, but I'm surprised am I suppose to get 4k with Maxis 10Mbps?

Are you sure you're getting the 4K stream?  I think you need 20-30Mbps for 4k streaming...

Looks very sharp so it could be but need something to test the actual resolution.

Hmm, not supposed to. So begs the question, sure you are getting 4K and not up-scaled 1080p? Is there like an info button on the remote/TV you could press to check? Or just search and play the Netflix speed test video titled "Example Short 23.976". Give it a few minutes to average out and watch the top left corner for the streaming bit rate and resolution.

How to find the test video?

I'm getting very good picture quality even on 1080p maybe due to upscaling to 4k by the Sharp UE630X, which brings into mind, will there be a significant improvement if I were to upgrade from 10Mbps to 30Mbps?

every video has a label - hd, ultra hd 4k or nothing (i.e. sd).

yes, hd videos come out very good on the ue630x.

the 4k ones come out even better - can tell the difference.

mostly tv series and documentaries, though.

if u have other use for 30mbps like torrenting or multi users, it is recommended.

also, the price unifi30 now is about the same as vip10. not sure about maxis...

Yes I can see the 4k ones with label also the picture quality is better than ones labelled 1080p. I've got no way telling if I'm actually watching 1080p upscaled or actual 4k though. If the label is 4k am I actually watching 4k eventhough on 10mbps?

According to the distance calculator I need at least 100 inch or more to notice difference between 4k and 1080p above 10 feet. I don't have that much budget to buy a 100" tv though.

IMO, Unless you are very close to your contract termination date & would rather be free, I say upgrade. I'm still on VIP10 myself but will be calling TM later to negotiate a favorable upgrade and I'm less than a year away from contract termination. My initial excuse for not upgrading last year was I needed the full 10Mbps upload speed vs 5Mbps being offered then. However, been reading around the forum &  it appears that TM has increased the Advance 30 plan to 30Mbps down & 10Mbps up. I'm not quite sure if the increase is officially available for new & upgrading users or just for existing subscribers. Higher download speeds at more or less the same price as the older VIP5 plan. Sounds right.

Unify has a better package than Maxis, seems they even include free 60 channels with the latest package.

Shouldn't have any additional charges for my upgrade so I guess should be ok to do so.

Our suspicions are correct, Hypptv has exclusive rights for Malaysia for House of Cards S4.

http://www.colourlessopinions.com/2016/03/...sia-hypptv.html

They also had the exclusive rights for season 3 , so it's some kind of legacy deal.

Looks like have to download from other sources if we don't have Hypptv.
