From the looks, you can try tighten the big fastener . I think the fastener from any grinder can be used. Or else you can use a flat head screw driver and hammer softly until it tightens. Just make sure which part is wobbling. Also check the handle post extension part. See if it is really tighten. Also the headset bearings, are they OK. I can't really confirm because I can't see clearly.

The fastener works the same way as the newer Dahons. The newer ones has treads on the inside of the fork steerer and yours are with treads on the outside. Works the same way, they pull and hold the fork from falling off. The present handle post or Lite pro ones can be installed but needs some modifications. Then, you will lose the classic looks of the bike. Try to tighten all moving parts and see.

thx.

after check i found two rootcauses of wobble
1 from the clamp.i just fix tge long hexagonal bolt now is okay.
and 2nd i found it come from the headset as i feel the handle turning isnt smooth.suspect the bearing problem.

for this bike is the headset bearing common?

i also interested about the modification part u mention.is the modification permanent?
im gonna keep the ori parts anyway.

NO, the mods can be reversed, so not permanent. The bearings, I think it looks like this. If you can't find the exact size, maybe refurbish the bearing nest. Take out all the bearings and soak the nest into kerosene or diesel. Then clean it up and later , get the same size bearings from specialist bearing shops and replace the bearings. Clean up the bearing cones too. Happy refurbishing.

PS/ looking at the pictures, the bearings seems to be standard 1 1/8" headset bearings. Maybe can even fit in the standard sealed bearing ones. Not too sure though as I cannot physically see it.

testing out factory stock bike laugh.gif
bought for my friend, so had a chance to test it today before owner collect from me.

i never test this bike on stock parts. all of my friend who bought this bike already modded it.for what i feel, the handlebar is near to me. maybe to add on a stem to make it comfort. other than that this kenda stock tyre are soft just like kenda kriterium. its comfort but soft on the tyre wall.

the folding paddle are lousy. i just push a bit when climbing and the paddle started to break!hahah, but that is not a problemo since its 2ndhand item.the 12-25 8speed casette are enough for me pairing with 53/39 crankset

this bike if im not mistaken already sold out and replace with other model. but when it 1st launch the price is around rm700-750 and last i ask the price already increased to rm900-950.

Hi,
I'm interested in these 2 foldies, Dahon visc P18 and Dahon Vigor P9. I already got a foldie now, a Doppelganger and thinking to upgrade to Dahon. I'm going to ride the foldie on bumpy road at kampung paddy field for photography and on road for exercising. In future, i'm planning to use it for a tour around Asia or Europe.

My question is,which one is better for my plan? I've read a post in V2 about the comparison which was made by Etigge. Visc p18 has 18 speeds while vigor p9 has the same frame as Vector which is high range (but lower price). Vigor p9 can be upgraded later if i need more gears.

In term of design, of course i like Vigor p9 better. However i'm not sure about vigor p9 performance over visc p18 performance. Is vigor p9 can handle the added weight for touring accessories?between these 2, which one is more stabil to carry my tour load?

both are good model and could load around 25-35kg for touring. but the drawback of those two model are both are aluminium material.

i didnt say aluminium are no good, but when it comes to confort, i will choose chromoly steel of course! u can change to fat tyre but nothing ride as comfy and stiff like chromoly! a bit heavy, but its worth it!

oh ya, if u planning on upgrades, forget about gears. coz that is the only item u can add on later within ur budget.16speed are enough already if u on tight budget.

oh ya, the only chromoly steel frame are dahon speed and boardwalk.

newbie here, would like to know why some of you like steel body over aluminium? Any comfort level compromised when you choose an aluminium one?

Can park at the Balik Pulau food court beside the Rapid Penang bus station. Many people around, quite safe.
Location 5.351289, 100.240932
After ride can enjoy fresh nutmeg juice at the food court :hyper The pasembor here is good also.

actually none of the foldie is meant to carry touring load.
