I've seen dahon qix in kimbell jaya. It doesn't really fold small but vertical folding is quite interesting. It takes a bit of time to learn to fold but I can see once you master it, it will be a fast fold. With the third roller, the bike can be push easily.
I'm more interested in dahon eezz due to its size. However just having 3 speed, I wonder would it be enough group riding. I'm not thinking of chasing road bike, just leisurely ride for fun ride around 30km or less. |

QUOTE(desastar @ Dec 4 2015, 07:12 PM) I've just picked this up. A 2011 Dahon Speed TR. I was deciding between a Speed P8 and this, very similar price. I figured you are getting so much more for your dollar with the TR. Looks very retro. The front wheel there's power supply for lights, right? I see alot of bike in japan having this kind of dynamo. Does it slow down the wheel?... Btw, May i know what is the different between speed tr and speed d8?Sram Dual Drive which I really like. Very adjustable handlebar stem. Biologic dynamo front hub Seatpost pump Full racks Ergon grips Kinetic rims MKS detachable pedals But.....it is heavy. I can easily lose 2 kgs, but I will leave it the way it is for now. It has done some kms judging by the wear of the back tyre, but incredibly, the bike is flawless, no paint damage etc. I rode a couple of kms back home and it felt like a big bike due to the weight. The gears all changed smoothly. Might have to tighten the clamps, adjust the hubs and headset, but other than that, all good! Any TR fans out there? QUOTE(desastar @ Jan 25 2016, 01:10 PM) I went to khass bicycle shop to test ride Tyrell ive. The bike rides very well and comfortable on the seat, as if there's a suspension on back wheels. I've tried standing up and pedal, it don't have much flex. It's a very fast bike, no doubt. Built quality is excellent with the folding all into the right place without touching or rubbing any part of the frame. I like the paint job, it glossy and it feels really nice to touch. However, it doesn't fold really small for a 18" bike. Compare to Dahon route, it's only slightly shorter but a little wider. Narrow are almost the same. Retail price are at RM6k. |

QUOTE(etigge @ Feb 17 2016, 02:03 PM) When you have a rubber block there, there's a possibility that it might wobble in the long run as many has demonstrated under poor maintenance. Like those 'B' copies, the MT from Flamigo, it wobbles even when new. KHS foldies on the other hand has a rubber block embedded inside the steel tube and this helps but the travel is just minimal. Unless you machine the pivots precisionly with sealed bearings embedded, many will have movements. That's why they prefer not to have suspension there. Even Dahon Curl omitted the rubber block altogether by going for a snapped tight V-joint which totally clasp the joint solidly without movement. They also patented the blardy joint! I've lift up this IVE, it doesn't have movement like the "B", it's using a internal clamp that can be release from the handle bar. Even there's no suspension block, the ride is still consider good for a 18" wheels.![]() If you take a 'B' unfolded and you lift up the rear wheels, you will feel the movement. That's what Tyrell wanted to avoid , probably and also Dahon Curl. A lot of care and maintenance is needed as this point as movements without grease will equate to wear and tear faster. |

QUOTE(chongkiat @ Feb 18 2016, 04:19 PM) i can afford a brompton, however i keep questioning myself on a value proposition of it. You buy Brompton for its legacy not functionality. It's not a fast nor it can climb hill easily. within malaysia, my tern p9 will always be the first choice, chunk into car reach and unfold it. brompton sized is more for overseas travel, where i can just put into my luggage without much problem and carry it along with me whenever i am on public transport. At cheapest 6sp at RM6700 for a brompton, i am thinking if i should spend that kind of money. Arguably brompton is a different league by its own, but i am not fanboy nor die hard fan. I need to balance between the price i paid and the utility it provide me with. having said so if a reasonably priced used B came along before Curl is available, i guess i will still make the jump. Your tern p9 can out ride a Brompton in speed and comfort easily. 😄😄😄 |

Hi azamune,
It's really nice to see so many foldies going up Fraser hill at the same time. Probably, yours is the biggest foldy that went up. Are you the organizer, how do you manage such a big group? |
