Thanks, that is useful information. I think I'll try my luck if I happen to pass by a branch. =)

Banks including government services here constantly change and update their procedures.

Whatever advise you received here regarding opening of bank accounts, approval and collection of EP cards may have change a lot from yester years. Best is to call in to the banks and government agencies to enquire

Haha! Yeah, I realised that. Will try my luck if I get to hop on the island before joining and share my experience. =)

Hi guys, I am looking for a room and currently searching for an area that allow me to easily commute to workplace around Marina Mandarin. Initially wanted to stay nearby workplace (Bugis area) but quite expensive. Green, red and yellow line seems to be my alternative (purple slightly further). Anyone can recommend me a nice area (e.g. Kallang, Aljunied etc) that has good surrounding such as food, convenient stores etc?
Thanks.

Aljunied lo...currently I'm staying at there

5 mins walk to MRT and food stores at Geylang. Nearby is Giant and Fairprice.

Currently I am in Singapore. I came in with white card to go MOM to give statement. But then they withheld my passport and don't let me out. Say that I need to stay in SG to further assist on investigation. Is it possible for them to hold tourist's passport?

As a new PR, is there any thing that we need to take note of?
Eg. Updating current employer with residential status and give them a copy of the new ic/ entry permit, updating singpass/ active SG account, IRAS, etc?

I'm planning to leave SG for some personal reason and will probably only be back after a year. Worried that I might missed out something
