QUOTE(danieltan @ Apr 25 2016, 04:26 PM) 1. Passport 2. Permit Card 3. Malaysia IC Minimum require to have SGD1000 in the deposit. If lesser, every month will deduct SGD2. They wont ask u to put money inside in order open the account for first time. Is an IPA acceptable in-lieu of permit card? I'm planning to get the bank account opened before I report for my first day.

QUOTE(danieltan @ Apr 25 2016, 02:14 PM) is that important to have insurance in Singapore since I got Malaysia insurance? no need if your Malaysia insurance is able to cover you fully in Sg, which i doubt so. I still get additional outside plan for hospitalisation for whole family although my Co cover all of us decently, with a cheap premium, cover up to S$1m / year, max at S$4m / lifetime. QUOTE(Kaka23 @ Apr 25 2016, 07:58 PM) Crazy betui... Actually can opt for cheaper fee by choosing cheaper wards but since insurance can cover fully, took the best one of coz lol. QUOTE(knwong @ Apr 25 2016, 08:06 PM) Why not reveal the medical condition? Good for everyone awareness here Not that we know who you are or your gf K lur...is ovary cyst. Is common among women. Quite low risk but still no girls want to go under the knife. So those who have gf, please advise them to get insurance that covers this.

Since there are so many banking sifus here, I'm thinking of starting to invest in Sg. Any recommendation on where to start? I've been reading about index investing but in the end I realized MAS regulation (CAR) which requires us to have knowledge in investing before we can open an investing account. really facepalm.
any tips?

Another quick question, can I disassemble my desktop and stuff them all into my hand carry (except chassis, of course) during my flight to SG? Cause its all electronics with PSU, mobo etc, will wrap some of them in anti static bag tho.

It's nothing much, just answer a few questions and sign some stuff to confirm you "have knowledge" But of course you'll want to have a bit of knowledge regardless of whether MAS requires it or not haha

Huwah! SGD20/hour for a part time maid, and a minimum time of 3 hours... I wonder how long it'll take to iron 2 weeks of office laundry (aka 10 shirts, 5 pants) and to do general housework (shoebox unit, don't cook so basically its mopping and toilet duty only).

But I am a huge fan of mileage credit cards (I use Citibank PremierMiles Visa/AMEX). Swipe cards, collect air miles, transfer to KrisFlyer and redeem first class ticket on SIA. Looks like I might not have the same luck with my preferred bank DBS. Is it unusual for one to request HR to issue the EP card before one's first day? I have a 3-week gap between employment allocated for relocation purpose and so I thought perhaps I can collect it earlier during the gap and open a local bank account, if this is not an unreasonable request. They sent me some forms to complete ahead of joining, one of which asked for my bank account details, to be submitted on first day. Btw, this sentence seems to be quite common among the banks for required documents: Passport and relevant pass issued by the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority of Singapore. Do you have any idea what the bank could have meant with "relevant pass"? This post has been edited by vincentleong: Apr 26 2016, 04:49 PM

Then wait few days for the card to be delivered to your new company. Not sure about the pass but maybe they meant EP card.
