QUOTE(ycs @ Nov 24 2015, 09:24 PM) I was already on 30Mbps since July and all this while upload speed only 5Mpbs until last Saturday then I went back hometown. Yesterday came back already more than 10Mbps. I was on VIP 10 but I don't think that matters because I have been with 5Mbps upload speed all this while. |

QUOTE(johntg100 @ Nov 24 2015, 07:54 PM) Those installers carry many sets of devices along with them to go out for installation works. How would you know they don't manipulate their inventories or mishandle them? How do you streamline the dispatch of these devices to ensure that the entire country gets the same type of equipment everywhere in every state? That is why they must distribute their equipment from 1 central place to gain customer's trust. It is such a good move to DIY but currently i think the awareness in malaysia is really low plus there is only 1 big company control all the infra which is TM and open the market sharing with maxis and P1(previously before acquisition)... just remember streamy-in-a-box, i think this is very low demand due to lack of either of interest to do it or simply feel very hard to setup for some user(that package i subscribe around 2004 where follow the procedure but take 7 days to activate the account)...We've seen some forumers here who got supplied with old equipment, some getting new and variances. There's also concern I would like to mention. Recently I noted that your installers are making passwords for your customers and telling them not to touch them. That is not a professional approach. How would I know they don't use the login accounts somewhere else without the customer's knowledge later outside at free hotspots and log into their customer's self management site? For this reason, ISPs in most advanced markets will sent the account login details and equipment directly to the customer for safekeeping with courier services. The customer can opt to self-collect their "goodie bags" at the telco customer centre if they want. The installer will only ensure that the installation is set up and all the equipments are working as intended. They'll us their own test accounts to test and then that's it. They would not help the customer's own account setup and connections. Welcome Letter with Confidential Account Login Details ![]() Self Starter Kit with Installer CD/ Login Credentials ![]() Starter Equipment Goodie Bag ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not really considering there's no standard pricing quotation guidelines to follow. You try asking the installer to wire your landed home through the roof, he'll instantly charge you close to RM200 for it. Ask for fiber termination box, ask for cable cover for concealment, ask for more drillings more charges will add up. They will charge you accordingly to how deep your pocket is. Why DIY? Given that if you know basic networking and house installation works, why not DIY placing your own conduits, cable covers and prepare your home internal network structure personally? If you know a friend or wireman who can help? 3rd party network equipment shops and installers? My local electrical wireman only charges me for around RM50-RM100 to do drilling and wiring through the roof, including supply of cables, why are these TM installers charging close to RM200 just to climb up and pull their cables? There must be a fixed standard pricing guidelines and guide for this to maintain your professionalism. for the device, off course the installer level hard to control but as the tm continuously do rnd to find either good product or cheaper product, so cannot complaint because it is not like meter like tnb or water utilities where they will change for you new generation for better and accurate reading and tampered proof(like put magnet on tnb meter to slow the movement of that last decade meter) ... currently i am using first gen of set-up box compare now is 3rd gen which the white one. If only tm can change their policy if they have new product, user can change with small fraction, not full price but tm current pratice need to pay full amount... for the wifi password, tm need to remind or skmm need to do awareness campaign to ensure the user smart enough to change the password for wifi... for the pricing, yeah there is no standard but i remember tm and maxis give the guidline for non standard installation even it stated on blue sheet of tm work order. but even the electricity wiring also didn't have standard pricing where contractor A give you rm100 for plug point and other might be cheaper rm50 or expensive rm100.. it depend on your knowledge(sometimes contractor try to con you also) and negotiation skills. how do i know due to my family are contractors also where the pricing is different for each people or company(but still my family pricing is competitive with others. beside that the complexity of installing the fiber is much higher compare wiring plus the device and cable much more expensive compare to copper wire. actually you can setup of your own internal networking but after the installation finish or you already prepare the internal networking and already know where to put all the device and other things...if you want to relocate the optical modem, it is up to you either want to call certified and experience fiber installer to do the job(maybe cheaper) or call tm again(sure expensive) but keep finger crossed when the non-tm contractor do the job to ensure problem free. but if experience people do that thing, sure nothing will happen... It is such honor to had this kind of discussion with you as can see others view or opinion and gather information and find the way to serve the customer much better, hope you didnt mind with my opinions hope to see much more information and ideas... |

Guys,my installation was set today. Yesterday TM called me to verify details and confirmed that my installation will be done today. Also they asked me to xontact my apartment management to open the TM CABINET in the apartment to pull cable. So i did and paid RM150 to my management as its standard charge.
Today the installer showed up alone. Came without any tools. He checked my house TM Wallplug anf its empty. (but here in my apartment all installation done by pulling cable from the CABINET). So the guy left cuz he cabt do anything if theres no wiring inside my unit as he only here to do installation inside house. My question is,what are the options i have here?Do i need to pay a contractor to pull the cable to my unit?Or was it supposed to be done by TM for free?Really confused here. Was on the phone with CS for more than 1 hour withput any solution. This post has been edited by ncool15: Nov 25 2015, 01:44 PM |

I cannot use the second phone jack on the ONU/BTU. Is this intentional by design?
