TM / Unifi never inform me about RM30 HyppTV package, I am so sad now
*
You are actually paying RM179 for 30Mbps (5Mbps upload) & HyppTV Aneka pack. Means you only pay RM179, NOT RM179 + RM30.

Actually, the breakdown of the charges are like that:

Unifi 30Mbps: RM169
HyppTV Aneka: RM30
TOTAL: RM199
Less Special Discount: (RM20)
YOU PAY: RM179

Im one of those of 1st batches who subscribed VIP30 for RM199. Do I entitle for the RM20 discount?
*
It's called UniFi Advance, NOT VIP30. Walk in to any TMpoint (except the authorized reseller outlets) to get it done, but you will lose the free calls.

It says

High Speed Internet - Residential - 30 Mbps
Residential Voice
TM WiFi
UniFi Special Discount RM20
HyppTV Residential

Based on the offer by TM telemarketer
30 Mbps @ rm179
free 600mins voice
free Hypptv Aneka
*
Yup, so you will be paying RM179, of course + 6% GST.

Hmm, looks like those who upgrade now get to enjoy the free 600 mins calls, and yet still get RM20 discount.

Those of us who upgraded earlier, now can ask for the RM20 discount but need to forgo the 600 mins calls.

But shouldn't be a big issue for most users. For me, I hardly make calls, not to forget today you can make calls on many apps including WhatsApp & WeChat.

If you read the UniFi Advance FAQ, Fair Usage Policy (FUP) does apply.

QUOTE(wcypierre @ Oct 31 2015, 06:09 PM)
basically that is what I had in mind as well, apply new one, install the new one then terminate the old one.

btw, I've been seeing a lot of complains on speed being capped after downloading a certain amount of gb of data, does it still persist?

but strangely enough all my wifi devices through speedtest.net app is all below 50mbps, can be as low as mid 15mbps to avg 20mbps. same goes to you as well?
*
Even I am using Asus RT-N12HP (high-power 9dBi antenna), I can only get at best around 22Mbps (usually around 15Mbps to 18Mbps) when I am within 2 or 3 metres from the wireless router. (I am using UniFi Advance 30Mbps)

The culprit is the congestion of too many wireless APs in my condo. Neighbors from all directions also have their own hotspots. Previously I could only get 10Mbps or less but after trial and error with different channels, I managed to get what I am getting now

Apparently, some 3rd party idiots (NOT TM) accidentally cut off a cable, causing outage to 50 customers at my condo. mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

*
not exactly sure but,

1) TM contractors were doing some upgrading works replacing some copper infrastructure.
2) My condo telecommunications room are accessible to both TM & TIME installers & technicians.
3) MRT construction right outside.

The culprit could be one of them.

BTW its cheaper now with HYPTV sports : RM179 + RM50(sports) = RM229 AND I also confuse there is a NEW UNifi Advance Plan Package for RM209 jumbo package... what is that?,
*
The pricing (excluding GST) is supposed to be calculated this way, at least this is what shown in the bill.

UniFi Advance (30 Mbps) : RM169

Add-on HyppTV Pack : minimum RM30

And of course the discount : -RM20

Hi guys can I revert my unifi30 back to vip20? Its really slow compare to vip20.
*
1) Don't think you can. The VIP packages are no longer offered.

2) Even if it is still available, reverting means a RM500 penalty.

Im considering on upgrading to 30 mbps speed and my only concern right now is the router. The stock trg212m given by tm is sucks ball and i want to get TL-WR841ND for the replacement. Is TL-WR841ND good enough for 30 mbps or should i get a better router?
*
Recommend you get Asus RT-N12HP or RT-N14UHP

Is there a lot of difference than getting  Asus RT-N12HP or RT-N14UHP instead pf tplink TL-WR841ND
*
AsusWRT has better firmware than the TP-Link ones and both the above Asus models are "HP" models, where they come with high-gain 9dBi antennas and provides stronger signals.

However, do take note if you live in a crowded environment such as apartments, interference will still not give you optimum speed using wireless.

I can't even get 30Mbps on wireless, using Asus RT-N12HP.

Initially only managed to get 18Mbps at best, but after tweaking by changing the 2.4GHz channel to a less congested one, it improves to 23Mbps at best!

Nothing wrong with TM UniFi in this case, but since I stay in a high-rise and wireless access points from neighbors are transmitting in all directions, there is nothing much I could do to further improve the wireless.

I have resorted to use cable (when it's possible to connect directly) or otherwise using HomePlug. In both cases, 30Mbps can be achieved!

QUOTE(christina1 @ Nov 23 2015, 10:07 PM)
U look very satisfied with ur 30Mbps connection...I am still thinking whether to upgrade to 30MBPs since a lot of users complain is not stable...

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Nov 23 2015, 10:46 PM)
Placebo effect is real here.

The network is still the same. laugh.gif

I see a lot of users are unable to achieve full 30Mbps on wireless unlike they can achieve full 10Mbps previously. You can blame the TM router for that. smile.gif

I did a testing and unplugged my Xiaomi nano router, 100% on TM router. Achieved the same speed as my Xiaomi router. laugh.gif
The only thing is it is not that strong when I was about 25m away. laugh.gif So I switched back. laugh.gif

My friend who is staying at 19th floor gets 33Mbps on TM router.

the weakness could also be the wireless interface (most likely antenna or driver) of the device itself. I do know some who purchased external USB wireless dongle and can achieve more stable connection with it.

Have you tried the 5Ghz band?
*
RT-N12HP is not dual-band. On top of that, my laptop does not support 5GHz but phone does.

Went in to TM website and looks like even after December 31, 2015, the RM20 discount is still applicable for UniFi Advance plans!
