Dear all BT maniac user,

I think it's wise to post and regularly update BT speed here so that we know when it's the time the connection get faster or when tmnet temporary stop throttling and ON back again....because sometimes i experience rather fast download speed and sometimes absolutely near 0kb/sec...

let me start first...

Using 1Mbps package

Download speed at Miri around 30kb/s @ 6.42p.m. 2November2006

Speed ok lor...

Remember to keep it posted regularly so that our friends can check the latest download speed as a reference....

Thank u... rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

which mean most people now experience slighty better download speed... rclxms.gif
That's why it's crucial to update so that we can check if our download speed is okie or other wise compared to others....

been having good speeds for a week or 2 now, 100kb/s stable download almost at all times, http download and ftp download. Bt if it's a popular torrent, 100kb/s no prob, sometimes 110kb/s even.

I don't think so, but my Aztech DSL600E sucks so bad, the older 900E(B)2 works way better.

However, complaining to CFM did help. I got good speeds after my complaint.

Around 50-55k and ul oso stable after midnite. During noon..speed slower and bit unstable..

upon reaching evening times my connection goes real slow and unstable speed. Thn a short while after 12 o'clock morning, my connection becomes dam unstable.
After those unstable periods, eventually it'll establish a steady connection and my speed wil go up.

Maybe throttling has been stopped , at my area , since i'm getting 45-5X kb/sec starting yesterday for both local and foreign seeders.

Penang - Bukit Mertajam.

EDITED

Package - RM66 (512kpbs)
Previous throttled speed - not more than 20kb/sec

I used to get 0 kbps too but lately it has been up to around 10kbps. Maybe they adjusted the max throttle to 10kbps for my area.

With 10 torrents running in a row, i can achieve around 100+kb/s.

However, they are ALL from LOCAL peers and once in awhile, a super Japan seeder.

Same area here (or very near). I had also encountered this rare spikes where it jumped to 170~kb/s, and plummel down back.

Of course if a good proxy came online and I use it, I can achieve those speed at almost a constant rate. Though proxies do not last long >_<, might need to subscribe to Secure-Tunnel soon.

Currently BT speeds are jumping from 20kb/s to 60kb/s. Averaging usually around the 40kb/s mark.

Some, very few international peers speed are going through, I can say around 3 to 5 of them, and the rest all stuck in zero. Still majority of the speed are coming from Local IP. Yes local ppl, seed or die biggrin.gif I generally hate leechers as well... all they think about is their dl speed, could care less about their ul. I have already uploaded ~170GBs since throttling period. That is more or less around 2 months, so averaging 85GB UL a month. If TMNet put higher upload speed for me then I can upload more, too bad I am stuck at 30ish kb/s upload only. Hiking it above 35 cripple my whole connection >_<

It's pretty lame to see these kind of lines
"Limit your upload speed below XXkb/s and you will be fine"
Those genius thought that will make the dl speed faster...

This happened all the time in chinese.cXXi forum.
And there all so lots of genius thought that they tarak kena limit and just assume that tmnets never throttled p2p..
They do nothing to help the throttled user, even worst they tease them, says that it's our own problems like windows/client setting got prob la yadayada..
I'm looking foward to see this line from them.
"FXXKING streamyx throttled my line"
Then...teasing time xD

Another typical selfish leecher, kedekut type who only knows how to take but not give back.

Why so stingy about your upload bandwidth, if you are not doing web conferencing, FTP uploads, etc, the bandwidth are not even halfed utilized.

Do you actually know that your upload bandwidth and download bandwidth are different? You might download at full 1mbps but you can still upload at the max 384kbps at the same time. Or to make it easy, however much you upload does not affect your download speed

Actually it does. That is why upload max must be set at 80% of your upload speed. So a 512/256 kbps connection must set upload max at 176-200 kbps or 22-25 kBps. If your upload max is above this then your download speed will be affected.

The reason is because there is overhead for the TCP/IP protocol and the PPPOE encapsulation. Also, your pc needs the space left over in the upload to send ACK signals to confirm download otherwise you'll end up downloading extra data just because ACK could not be sent due to the upload had been maxed out for bittorrent upload.

Remember 80% of your upload only.

My speeds are about 20-40kb/s, still receiving from local peers only. I usually set my upload about 16-18kb/s when downloading, then increase it to max 26kb/s when the task finishes. I think the max upload speed for me (512 package) is about 25kb/s, I've tried setting it higher but it never exceeds 25kb/s.

rite now, this is my interesting report :

dl speed is 91kB/s
up speed is 22kB/s
RM66 512package
DL file - Smallville
Peer upload - 202.188.101.11 (parkview 101-11.tm.net.my)
my IP - 124.82.21.172

no other international peer working at all (throttled)

what i may suggest is y don we all share what we dl so that we all can have our full speed back in tact, rather than asking from stupid tmnet to unthrottle our bandwith, which is almost impossible to do, except mr Cruise from MI:3.

FYI, im seeding Rob-B-hood and onepiece284, 230-239 since yesterday, up speed can run up to 15-20kB/s per peer, hope one of u are dling from u rite now.

Wat i mean tat i din change anything at my side, if ppl upload it high enough, we probably get dl high speed enough, tats y im starting to upload it high now, at the moment 22kBps is my half meg package highest upload rate

i saw from my utorrent someone dling bitcomet 0.75 from me for 20kBps, that is almost the max of my upload speed, 20k from a single peer is a lot.

try lowering the upload speed.

They do help increase download speed significantly. And to some of you holes who assumes all the time don't give me that kind of shit saying "OH NOES YOU LEECHER YOU DON"T UPLOAD", after finishing the download you can always seed at full speeds.

EDIT:no offense lol

The highest speed available in StreamyX service package is 2Mbps and it is simply impossible for anyone to reach 300Kbps under such package. There are three conclusions that we can arrived at here.

1) the screen capture picture has been purposely altered to show an unrealistic speed
2) you are using an alternative ISP and/or is paying for a special service package
3) you are an employee of TMnet that manage the StreamyX server and is probably misusing company asset to download items at a speed not available to TMnet customers. if this is the true reason, we now know the cause of why our BT download is so slow and why TMnet have to throttle us. It is farkface like you that is sucking up all our bandwidth.

Uploading and downloading are basically the same right? They should share the same line and the same "workload" correct?

Let say, if he limits his upload but then later seeds back again at full speed, are we saying that's something bad?

For your information, he paid for that line. I don't see why him using his line whichever way he wants (as long as the speeds are legal, meaning no uncapping shit), it's perfectly fine right?

EDIT: the word "line" got filtered to the word "kube" somehow.

Streamyx don't even have a package more than 2mb which I already exceed. What makes you think I'm on streamyx? Or even think that I work with TMNET. What if I am just some rich user who subscribe a leased line and like to piss you guy's off? What if I am not even in Malaysia.Just something to think about.

@tm.net

we are only concerned about our inability to download at speed that we pay for. we are not interested in speed that people receive by paying through their nose for a leased line with extremely high bandwidth or possibly misusing company to download at high speed without authorisation. we would only be pissed off if you are using the same service package as we are but are enjoying bandwidth that we are not getting. if you are not using TMnet StreamyX, your post in this thread is meaningless.
your life must also be very meaningless since you obviously got nothing better to do in your life and have to waste your time and effort to register for this forum just to show off download speed allegedly available under an expensive leased line and which nobody is interested in.
if you are trolling, I have enough free time in my office to play with you. go ahead and troll some more.

if he is indeed a TMnet employee but is not the CEO, and if TMnet has a policy which forbid employees from using company bandwidth to download personal items, maybe we should obtain his IP from lowyat.net admin and track him down and report his activity at work to TMnet. If he has a superior or a boss, I am certain he or she would love to have this piece of information.

I know you are trolling but it is certainly fun to insult you. MPAA? Even if we report, they don't give a shit. they can't be bothered with one pipsqueak from half way around the world downloading stuff. unless you are hosting hundred of Hollywood movies in a local server in your home or office, you don't mean shit to them. your immediate boss however will be interested in giving you shit for doing something that is against company policy. however, the whole point is moot since you claimed you are getting your speed from expensive leased line and not from TMnet StreamyX.

i once download a same torrent in office and home. of course office and home will have different % of completion. i took home the office version of incomplete files, put it in PC B start the same torrent in PC A and PC B using 4port modem router, once torrent gets connected to sync with each other i am getting almost the same speed as you for a few minutes only until both same % of completion

30~60kbps on USB ADSL Modem
30~90kbps on Normal ADSL Modem
(1Mbps package)

Old Klang Rd (KL)

The download speeds I'm getting is due to the tweaked settings on my uTorrent and also because of my high upload ratio.. everything I download, I sure seed to ratio 1.5~2.0 and keep those items.. thats why I'm getting lotsa good peers.

The trick is to apply EventID 4226 patch (yeah, I know you already have... but...) this time, set it to max: 1000 connections. Don't worry, tested on Aztech 600E lousy modem, no problems surfing / MSN so far.

Anyway, use BitComet. Under uTorrent with P.E. enabled, I got only 15-20KB/s max... but with BitComet and max 999 connections (per torrent / server / overall), I can connect to about 100+ seed / peer per file. Launch simultaneous downloads, and I got a steady 150KB/s down 20KB/s up... I think its due to DHT, which finds more peers... so its a good thing.

Success for the past 8 hours, averaging 120KB/s ++ even with a few minutes down-time factored in (due to BitComet's crash!)! LOVE IT!

What happens? The 60+kb upload from someone in France or the fact that you have like 11+ simultaneous downloads going?

Sometimes this happens, only one torrent will burst into high speed for a few minutes or couple of hours but anothers were close to 0kb/s or none. ohmy.gif
Last time before tmnet throttle, my bt download was 80+kb if i simultaneous download more than 10 torrents, now around 20+kb(average) mad.gif to 110kb(rarely) rclxms.gif unstable speed . sad.gif

I was like ~ wow. I've been using Streamyx 1MB in Pantai Dalam - KL area, and the highest speed (once in a blue moon) is 80kBps and when I was seeing all of you got it as normal (before), I was thinking that I was being f**ked up all along these year.

On a normal usage, probably I will get average 10kBps-30kBps max (before these throttled issue about a month ago as far as I can remember). And within this month, my connection is about 0-5kBps.

Em, did I mentioned that max download that I did is only 2 torrent files? If downloading more that that, then speed will be like snail. Internet browsing will be almost impossible. I will only do that if I am going to sleep.

I'm using Azureus. NAT and DHT is OK (green). Modem that I use is Triz3200c. I've used Aztech DSL 600E and ZTE XDSL 831 before with NAT enabled and those thing configured. But with Triz 3200c is the best. And yes, I've trying encryption thingy but seems like it is becomes slower though I enabled "Allowed non-encrypted incoming connection"

Post Edited??
Some place less ppl use Streamyx so their download speed can go faster... Like for example fren place Penang Sg. Dua near USM got many comp shops, i'm sure most of them using Streamyx.... 2 big net cafe using SDSL & 5 medium net cafe using ADSL... He place at nite sometimes around every half dc once... I think the ISP not enough cater the whole area...

TMNet always put blame on P2P... everyday their new Streamyx users coming in & they never do any upgrades & rather spends billions invest India telco company... Is that fair to us u think??

Try this. Disable DHT and PNP in both your router and Azureus. Restart Azureus and router. You will get just a little bit more speed but the fact remains BT in your area is throttled. Good luck smile.gif

Are you sure about Disabling DHT? I seem to have good results with DHT enabled and EventID patched to 1000 (a thousand) max connections. International peers are still throttled, but now, it doesn't matter because many hundreds of local peers are feeding me.

Getting 150KB/s constant now, using BitComet.

u're lucky if local peer still seeding that file that u're leeching..
try leeching any linux iso(any distro) which seldomly got local peers and then u'll know..

beside i dun think they did configure that device well since other protocol(ftp, ssh, etc) is affected as well.. its quite hard to fetch something from freebsd ftp server here... sometimes i cant connect at all..

I don't get it, my connection has been really crappy now, all of a sudden tonight its awesome! I doubt it is because there is a lonely technician working in TMnet that finally fixed my connection, probably more like something has stopped working that was throttling me before and now I have a real connection.
Fingers crossed that it stays this way this time! thumbup.gif

You are most probably downloading from local peers. I don't believe any high speed downloads listed here that does not state local or international peers connected.

Mine is exactly the same and I'm staying in Shah Alam. Same IPs and same likelihood of getting the magic 124.x.x.x IP. 60.5x.x.x is the worst IP I can get, I hate it, hate it, hate it. hehehe

I also have no idea about this ... This happened on me after telekom fix the line for my taman ...

Now my line capped at 256/512 , but last time was capped at 512/1024.
Since then , my SNR was improved , a lot ...

with 60.x.x.x ip's i can get lower pinging to www.tm.net.my, better gameplay and better speed in BT, yes...you read me right, my µTorrent speed is like double from BitComet max speed (100KBps) both in international and local peers. i'm sure its international by looking those ips right...icon_rolleyes.gif

I feel that after I did port forward my bitcomet seems hard to connect to peers. after I've reset my router and no port forward, the bitcomet connected to peers very fast and start downloading. Since tmnut throttle our p2p you guys still finding that port forward method working?

damn I am now got affected by this TMnet throttling thingy.. It happened yesterday.. I'm using 1MB Streamyx..
location : K. Terengganu
only can connect to local peer with good speed right now..
see the pic below:
user posted image

..and to connect to the people overseas like US,UK.. it even can't download from them and sometimes only hit 1Kb/s - 3Kb/s, before this when I'm using private tracker can download at speed 140Kb/s+

..now only 12-40Kb/s, and it is possible if there is a local ip addresss available only.. sad.gif

mine is a lil weird...

at first using bitcomet 0.5x and download speeds just went to like 1-2kbps TOTAL. and i cant even surf or network among PCs when its running.

then about 4-5 months ago changed to utorrent and its back up to 100+kbps total. all of a sudden it just went down to 0kbps total. i thought it was the throttling. this happened about 1-2 months ago.

then i changed to bitcomet 0.75. set the max connections per task at 30 and guess wat.. back up to 100+kbps total.

sheesh!

Dear all BT maniac user,

I think it's wise to post and regularly update BT speed here so that we know when it's the time the connection get faster or when tmnet temporary stop throttling and ON back again....because sometimes i experience rather fast download speed and sometimes absolutely near 0kb/sec...

let me start first...

Using 1Mbps package

Download speed at Miri around 30kb/s @ 6.42p.m. 2November2006

Speed ok lor...

Remember to keep it posted so that our friends can check the latest download speed as a reference....

Thank u...

gettting an average speed of 2KB/S over 4 torrents. Some can't even connect to the trackers.
Speed had been great for the last month, but now streamyx seems to be messing it up again.

I'm using 512Kbps package... torrent average download 1KB/s ! Location, Kajang.

YouTube also stuck, but after I try youtubex+downloader can pump back to 55KB/s (means actually the bandwidth actually exist!)

Few days ago, downloaded anime One Piece 283 Local peer could boost toorent download speed up to 40KB/s ~ open 200 connection per-torrent hopefully can much get local seeders .

Didn't BT for the past few days cause managed to get direct download links, but now I tried out BT..speeds are just mediocre unless I get good speeds from local peers.

Just a question, is 221.126 our local IP? Cause I got good speeds from that person and he/she was downloading at 280+kb/s O_O

i'm 512k user. my BT speed seems back to normal at the moment. consistently 50kB/s (max 58kB/s) after some "tuning".

maybe i download from local peers but it's much better now. previously only got max 15kB/s. i need to continue my experiment with other trackers and peers.

Welcome to the TM Net Throttled Club. You will get fast speed once in a while but that is an illusion caused by local peers. You'll get 0.1kbps from international peers.

To put this in perspective, I was able to hit 100kbps on occasions on Torrents that are well seeded. The throttling on my end, started last Wednesday (14 or 15 Nov). I have been getting good speeds for the last month. Too good to last I guess.

I used to be able to get my TV shows in an hour or two, now I have to DL for days. A 99% reduction in speed IS NOT REASONABLE - IF YOU CANNOT SUPPORT THE BANDWIDTH DEMANDS OF YOUR PRESENT CUSTOMERS, STOP ADVERTISING FOR NEW CUSTOMERS THAT YOU CANNOT ADEQUATELY SUPPORT. AT THE VERY LEAST STOP SELLING BANDWIDTH THAT YOU HAVE NO INTENTION TO SUPPLY. Bah! $90 for crap like this.

BT international seeders still sux to death.... I still cannot except this kinda of bandwidth shaping or so called throttling. This is not throttling.. this is killing the international torrent packets!

They are just to lazy to read the old posts and don't realize that this throttling will be at least till end of the year but most probably permanent.

I'm not sure why you want to update speed here but of course its my own ISP and its my private access... however we do not block Bittorrent... and we throttle web, voIP, messenger over other protocol to make sure it runs smoothly...

My speed is extremely fast (160++kBps, sometimes 180kBps) IF connected to local peers only..if not, it's like not downloading at all...INTERNATIONAL PEERS, we are blocked from downloading/uploading from/to them, this is what heard but got no proof...

package rm88, 1Mbps

The WiMAX spectrum will be auctioned next year, it will at least take 6mths to roll out after obtaining the spectrum, are you promoting pre-WiMAX?

I'm not surprised, its not guranteed in the first place (probably TMnet is using different "throttling boxes/methods" in different regions). Another thing is that this forum is probably crawling with TMNet perisik - whatever that is discussed here that works will tutup soon enough. The easiest place for admins to find holes in their networks is browse through public forums like these.

Actually there are ways to bypass all the throttling and filtering (I will neither confirm nor deny that I have found a way - /wave perisik). It usually takes $$$, a credit card/paypal acct, some knowledge of networking kung-fu and a lot of effort. The best solutions, the Kung-Fu masters know to keep secret - for once their secret technique is known to the public - it will be countered and not work anymore. One thing for sure is that the days of convenient no-brain to use BT is over - its the sad truth until you can afford your own overseas line.

i agree with what you said about bypassing the filter because there are ways to bypass it if you know what you are doing, and like you, i won't say anything about it here because of all the tmnut spies in this forum. if totou suddenly stops working like it did before, then it's a good bet those spies are monitoring this forum and have configured their shaper to throttle this previouly unknown chinese bt client.

Yeah i'm doing that. I realize another thing.. international trottling happens only after 8am at my area.. not too sure what time it starts yet.. maybe some time at night. COz i was observing my connections at 7:55 then saw my conncetion suddenly all dropped.

you can bet your life that those tmnut spies will go to your area if you state here you are enjoying super fast speeds. so better to keep quiet and tell no one.

Ok, I'm here to rant. Why? I stumbled upon a freaking leecher on a torrent I'm downloading. I noticed a tm net peer so I turned off my bypass and figured I could peer with the other tm net user.

I'm uploading to him at 25 kBps meanwhile he's uploading to me at only 4kBps? shocking.gif Needless to say I decided not to peer with that loser and used my bypass instead, with much better speeds than 4kBps.

You can block by using peer guardian. I'm using utorrent as well but just using the bypass is enough to stop sending to that TM Net leecher.

BitComet has DHT, uTorrent doesn't. With UT, I'm getting 10-20KB/s on latest TV series with lots of peers. But with BitComet, I can do 130-150KB/s on a 1mbit connection (RM 88). NO PROBLEM AT ALL!

Aiyah, at 27% and 50% for 2 torrents on utorrent. Cannot abandon. Test later but other bitcomet users don't have success either.

Wait a minute, huge peerlist? Sorry, not that popular. Just 30 peers.

There's something called uPNP and supported by most new routers. No need for port forwarding setup.

*
Usually when I DL or seed, I get 2 or 3 TMNet downloading peers (leechers but thats just a technical term - not a pejorative in this case). I have to cap my upload speed so usually they can only get 4-5 kbs out of me per downloading peer. Perhaps thats the case? That guy may be sharing his upload to you with a few other peers. I'm using UTorrent, I don't exactly know how to allocate 100% of my upload speed to just 1 guy. Is this an Azureus feature?

Back on the subject matter:
Penang, Georgetown still affected. <5kbs DL

On my DLs with my 1.6 UTorrent - all the international seeders cant exceed 5kbs total - thats how much TMNet allocates me. On the other hand, if local seeders hop on the torrent (from TMNet) - the speed spikes to +50-60kbs occasionally (but rarely). Looking at the peers list, I see tantalizing clues on how the TMNet traffic shaping works. There are occasional bursts of speed out of international peers lasts for several minutes at a time (but they dissappear fast or throttled back as the traffic shaper "catches the data" and adapts). These bursts of speed usually come from only certain countries and is never USA or the western countries. Its a BIG CLUE RIGHT THERE. Look for that pattern - It will help you overcome the throttling. I can't say more because there are TMNut spies in the forum.

the more you show off your "tunneling" speed, the more likely you are going to be targeted by tmnut for throttling. remember tmnut spies are here 24/7 in this forum. if you are smart, you keep your fast speeds to yourself instead of showing off here.

Just showing off. There is no reason to tell us your tunneling speeds or local peers speed.

For Bitcomet users, remote doesn't mean international peer.

The throttle is still ON but I guess TMNut loosen the throttle a bit only. To check if the throttle is completely over, try using download managers on http and compare the d/load speeds.

hurm... today at 8 pm and above i pretty sure the torrent will throttle again. seem like they throttle it on working days. maybe want to jaga their corporate customer. some info i know, if corporate customer has problem, couple of hours only they will solve the problem. one more thing, if corporate line has problem, they will take ordinary line (home user) and put it for their corporate customer use. in the mean time they'll try to solve the corporate line problem. so we as home user suffer most. that is why as home user, we cant request for fix ip and corporate line even we want to pay to them.

i think it is indeed corporate line. why in utorrent some show ip some show tm.net.my?
is it the different between dynamic and fixed ip? home user is dynamic. maybe because of this it show tm.net.my instead of the ip itself.
