Just moved to a new place recently n been selecting drinking water filter
Pondering between
1)eSpring
2)Culligan
3)Aquaphor

After much reading and consideration, moved on with Aquaphor Crystal Eco

Consideration Factors :
1. Certification (digged out the LGA certificate, the test lab credibility, the test sample and filter model stated on test report,  the test tested against Malaysia water supply and the filtered parameters details) Thanks bro Zheilwane for the patience to share with me  blush.gif

2. The concept of pre-filtration before main, so no clogging in the main filter. The patented Aqualen technology, bacteria, voc filtration with silver...  Etc.

http://www.cleanaqua.co.uk/eng/news/44
http://www.aquaphor-water.eu/english/Company/history.htm

3. I choose the under sink setup, it's a Super DIY design,  i got it all setup in <15mins (u need to prep a hole on ur table top for the faucet readily though, unless u choose the table top setup)

4. Filter priced at Rm1699, RM450 filter replacement annually, there's no need of extra charges in electricity (UV or some display electronics), NO shipment n service charge, replacement filter service charge whatsoever,  totally DIY

5. Drink direct with a really good quality faucet given foc (Seriously I was impressed with the faucet, it is really solid)

6. Water is totally, clean, odourless, tasteless n clear (done a comparison with 2 glasses of water from Aquaphor CE n direct from pipe, u can straight away see an obvious difference)

And no, i m not on commission to review on this hahahha
Just sharing smile.gif

The technology used & the effectiveness should be the main concern when choosing a water filter system. A relative small filter will have small filter size with small surface area which reduce the effectiveness of the water filter. If you are concern about the available space in your kitchen, you can look into eSpring as it only acquire little space & it can be counter top or under sink set up.

The initial cost of a good water filter may be high but you should look into the maintenance cost & also the complication of changing the filter. Some comes with 6 filters or 3 filters which you need to change time to time, but when it can be as effective or more effective & cost saving with just one filter cartridge, why not? For example the eSpring water filter system is using only 1 cartridge filter with UV light, it also comes with smart chip monitoring system to alert you when the cartridge lifespan end. It's only 12 cents per litre or RM1.60 per day.

Hi all,

I am completely new to this. I currently have a Bacfree Indoor filter and am pretty happy with it.

My issue is that I do not have an outdoor filter. I would like to add something to pre-filter the water before it comes into my house.

From the reading I have done here, it seems a sand filter is preferable and more long lasting.

The market is FLOODED with all sorts of outdoor filters. How do I pick a reliable one without breaking the bank?

I was approached by a NESH promoter in the REX 17 fair but that is a membrane filter I believe. She also told me some water filters will reduce my water pressure as there are not enough outlet holes i nthe filter itself for water to pass trough.

Any pointers for me please? Key thing would also be the cost for replacing the filter.

their membrane backwash function is good for my hse, as we have many plants.

for water pressure wise, this is something should think about it. but nesh's outdoor filter will not affect, at least for my hse it is stronger.

a good outdoor filter cn protect ur indoor filter too.

Thanks. What are some of the things to look out for a sand filter. Price range and disparity is huge.

My house is a concrete jungle. Wanna get something economical long run.

For starter, you want one that doesn't filter out chlorine. So, no carbon layer in the filter.

May i ask why? Wouldnt it be better to filter out chlorine seeing that the primary function would be to the delivery of clean drinking water.

Thanks for your advise.

Chlorine is intended for killing bacteria.
Your water after POE will be stored at your house reservoir, if chlorine is filtered after POE, your water reservoir will be contaminated with bacteria again. We don't really check the water reservoir frequently (maybe we never check) sometimes there are dead lizards or other stuff inside.
Chlorine will be filtered at drinking water filter, high dosage of chlorine are harmful to our body. By boiling water with chlorine it also can produce harmful chemical gases.

That's why there are POE and POU for different usage. As one above explained to you.

How about this type of POE pre water filter.?

Install below kitchen before your Drinking Water Purifier and kitchen sink tap.

Water filtration size is about 40micron, I think its more than enough for pre filter.
And the filter is made from Stainless Steel 316. Can last very long.
Just clean the filter when feels its necessary.

40 micron? Might as well don't install it.
It looks more like pre filter for RO membrane, not POE.
POE is installed at the main water source.

The normal few hundred dollar type also at least 10 micron, higher grade can as low 5 micron or less.
If it's above 10 micron, it's not effective even removing sand sediments. No point to take any POE above 10 micron.

i was wondering, can you get a mixer tap and then use it for filtered water?
instead of hot and cold, you get normal tap and filtered water.

Some mixer tap has dual control/lever which eliminate risk of mixing with tap water.
I am thinking to hide my countertop filter as well in future.

We want to add a water filter to our condo. We already got a coway water dispenser but dont have a water filter for incase we need to boil water to 100degrees. The coway water dispenser does not boil to 100degress, only until 89degree. We sometimes needed the super boiled water because its to make baby milk. Better to have things sterilized properly and also good water. So here is the problem, condo we can filter at the source, so we need to filter at our taps. I saw this 3 filter sold at 11street, just wondering which is the better choice? Please don't say the more expensive the better, really appreciate the good input.

FYI

What temperature does water sterilize?
A temperature of 175 degrees F (80 degrees C) for 5-10 min, for example, will destroy all active bacteria, yeast, and fungi. Cells in their dormant phase (spores) are more resistant to heat, and temperatures above 240 degrees F (116 degrees C) must be used to inactivate them.
