Can the LG Water Purifier Cartridge Filter be recycled? Just thinking of a way to dispose it responsibly instead of just throwing it away

LG doesn't have a recycling program, I'm also not sure if there's any 3rd party ones hmm.gif

Hi everyone, hope to get some advice from everyone here smile.gif
Previously I've been using some 10+ year old Amway filter. I think it works fine (we haven't died yet so lol) but we're running out of replacement filters and Amway don't sell it anymore.

1. landed or condo? - Landed - N. Sembilan
2. how many pax in your household? - 3-4 people
3. got senior / babies / people with disease like kidney failure for example in the house? Nope
4. can you able to do some small DIY installing yourself or not? (like replacement filter yourself?) Sure
5. how much u afford to installment per month for at least 5 years? 50/mth or 100/mth or 150/mth? Around RM50 ish a month for 7 years
6. or do u prefer 1-time off purchase? below 1k or 2k or 3k? If 1-time then maybe around RM2k ish, then filter replacement below RM500/year or lower
7. do you own external water filter yet? Yes, POE I believe
8. hot/water function is it a must for you? will you willing to fork out another RM50/mth electricity bill for the feature? or you just stick with thermal pot + fridge cold water? Not a must but would be nice. If too expensive or really not worth it, then I can still use my kettle and fridge anyways haha. Just checking them out for convenience

So far I've surveyed a few.
Normal ambient room temp water
1. 3M Aqua-Pure/C-Complete Under sink filter mineral water. - ~RM600 one time incl tap, then ~RM300 filter/year.
2. 3M FM1500-B Under sink filter mineral water - ~RM1500 one time incl tap, then ~RM500 filter/year but not sure if that's worth it or not compared to the cheaper model.
3. Coway Cinnamon RO water - RM28/month for 7 years incl service.
4. Amway eSpring - RM5000 one time + RM600 for filters (not gonna get this as it seems to be the biggest waste of money out of all of these)

With hot/cold feature
1. Coway Neon mineral water - RM48/month for 7 years self service or RM53/month for 7 years incl service.
2. Coway Neo Plus RO water - RM53/month for 7 years incl service.
3. Cuckoo King Top 2 - RM61/month for 7 years incl service.
4. LG Puricare - RM70/month for 7 years (most expensive service so maybe won't go for this)

I wonder if any of these would be a good choice or if anyone else has any other recommendations.
Thank you!

Quick update, proceeded with the Coway Cinnamon RO water - RM28/month for 7 years incl service.
This is probably the cheapest water filter that you can get, at RM336/year I don't think you can get anything else for this price. Plus, this is including installation, servicing, warranty etc.

So far so good smile.gif

hi all, starting Feb 1st Shopee-Lazada now effectively charge crazy 20% fee on the purchase price. I recommend once again to always contact sellers of water filters directly. Yes, there is recently an increase of 5% SST, but RM is also stronger, so effective prices didn't change. However if you look at the platforms, you will think that we have inflation of 100% per year... absolutely crazy....

Did you check out Nesh? I only know their Hot Cold Filter Single Tap and hidden undersink filter is 4.5k one time... cheaper then LG Atom 1k.

As i know, Nesh don't have cold water. Also the replacement filter catridge is RM750 per set, LG is RM250 per year.

Understood. Can you explain what are the major differences between Aquaphor Crystal Eco and Crystal Eco Pro besides the filter life?

There is little to no change from practical point of view. They say it is improved Aqualen and carbon block, but it hardly matters since replacement interval is still 1 year, as for most carbon based cartridges, time is the limiting factor, people rarely if ever hit the limit of L capacity.

So can the Crystal Pro replacement filters fit the existing standard Crystal setup?

Never heard of this before. Also too pricey for what I need anyways.
