I have to decide now for ACs in my currently renovating house.

Should I go for Daikin or Panasonic? They are going to be 2.5HP and 1.5HP units.

Either one should be fine. I have been using Panasonic for more than 3 years now so far no issues.

100% confirm without a doubt Daikin.
Buy a current lineup Panasonic sure regret, they don’t make it like they used to.

Nowadays, I guess, all the brand more or less the same. Just that some model works well longer run and other not.

Recently moved to Media inverter due to easy cleaning (DIY), lets see how it goes. Mine is 2.5HP, and its super cold!

cause Daikin while it has it share of issues, Daikin has relatively cheap and widely available parts for repairs unlike some other brands

this is from my AC technician from his POV from the type of AC he serviced most of the time

That's a tough choice. You want something that easily spoilt, so everyone makes spare parts for it...
or....
something that rarely spoilt, but difficult to find spare parts for it? laugh.gif

I also donno what to think. But if you see the ranking for China specific manufactures, Gree is at top place
Top 10 air conditioning manufacturers in China
So I guess your a/cond tech may be somewhat telling the truth.

Me personally I like Midea all easy pro because easy to service

But won't there be spare parts for a commodity item like an a/cond that always spoilt? If the 3rd party spare parts manufacturer can make money, won't they choose the parts for the model that always kong?

If you were a car spare parts manufacturer in Malaysia, would you make brake pads for Myvi, or for Dacia? That's my logic anyway.

i get the idea. basically people want to untung also, so why would they stock spare parts for models that dont break down often or rarely used.

good news however most of the spare parts are actually interchangeable

i rmb last time my compressor capacitor kong and the model the technician used can be used for literally every compressor as long same HP

Is it appropriate to use a 3C 40x00076 flexible cable for 1 HP and 1.5 HP inverters, and a 3C 70x00076 flexible cable for a 2.5 HP inverter?

Shouldn't the standard at least require a 2.5 mm² cable? These two types of flexible cables do not appear to be equivalent to a 2.5 mm² cable.

There is no Malaysia Standard for the wiring size between the Outdoor and Indoor unit, only the installed wires that feeds the a/cond. The wiring between ODU and IDU is considered wiring internal to the unit and is specified in the installation manual by the manufacturer.

Sample of specifications from Daikin
user posted image

40 x 0.0076 = nominal diameter 1.1 mm²
70 x 0.0076 = nominal diameter 2.0 mm²
Looks like 40 x 0.0076 should not be used as I have never seen an installation manual that allows less than 1.5 mm² between the ODU and IDU. For the 70 strand you need to check for your specific unit if it is appropriate.
