Haven really ask about the body kits. Don't think any available locally now. Gotta wait a few months. I also plan to put only a small spoiler or a diffuser.

This is my best record, as for those tank, i purposely drive slow accelerate as much as i could , and keep maintain on the sweet spot 80kmh as much as i could , and whenever below 70, i try to utilise by using the hybrid battery.
Well , this kind of slow pace polite driving experience is sucks. haha just for test purpose only..

normally drive me 1 tank can last roughly 900km (rm101 full tank on rm1.95/L and Rm115 on full tank after 2.05/L petrol)

Hi Guys,
One month old Hybrid owner here....so far loving the car!
I don't drive conservatively at all due to the ready torque...but I still get about 14km / litre....a full tank gives me about 700km..

Still clue less about mirror link with my android phone.....
Anyone hardworking enough to do a simple step-by-step guide? notworthy.gif

Hi bro, I am not sure. But it seems like the , "back view mirror " housing. Cause it give the squeaky sounds very often. I try to hold it tight a little and it will go away for a while. Gonna have it checked then. But so far really quite statistics with all others.

No worries bro, FYI , the 20.6 is per drive, so might not accurate (perhaps i am on downhill that time ) and varied by different city driving/ highhway drive. To get the accurate , u should use my total 870 divide by 56litre oil. like this sure correct d

Thank you so much for this Hybrid Fan Club ! Appreciate your effort.

My best FC so far : 3.9L / 100km or 25.6KM / L (from Cheras Pandan Indah to Petaling Street)
My average FC : 5.5L / 100km or 18.1KM / L
** 95% city drive **

I'm switching from Persona and quite satisfied with this car. It is quite, comfort, and very fuel saving (compare with my previous Persona). Car surround sound system is great, car infotainment is good.. Got my car for about 2 weeks now, reaching 1000km, only pump my petrol once (Ron97) for RM115. today is my second refuel (RM110).

Currently I'm connecting my iPhone via bluetooth. Haven't try out the MirrorLink, guess it is too complicated to set up. Appreciate if any SIFU here can teach us a short tutorial. I don't even know what app to download to use MirrorLink.

This is the locktech, there are many similar brands but the ori is made is Thailand and the key has Thai wordings. I went to the local assessories shop here and they say the locktech model they have can fit the Camry but the push start disable feature is not working coz the wire not suitable. Have to wait for new batch to arrive.

Hi Lexanoir,

No la, I used to cruise my ride along the way. Avoid any unnecessary acceleration, then it should be good. Yes, smooth and easy is the key to fuel saving. I always keep my meter below [power, white zone] keep it around [eco, green zone]. When the traffic condition is below 50km/h, use full EV to utilize the battery instead of engine. If you notice, [Eco] got two zones, green and yellow. Keep your meter (left) in Green zone.. then it will be fully using electric(provided you have battery).

Why RON 97?
Basically it is recommended to use RON 97 as long as your engine is > 2.4cc
RON = Research Octane Number [standard measure of a motor or aviation fuel] The higher the octane number, the more the fuel can withstand compression before it detonates.

RON95 is good for car with lower CC, for i.e when I'm driving Persona, it is not advisable to pump RON97 because Persona 1.6cc is not suitable to use RON97, it won't give me more power.

In return, filling a vehicle(>2.5cc) with a lower octane rating than the one specified by the car manufacturer may lead to pre-ignition, a scenario that would ruin the car engine in the long-run or even result in an explosion. Generally, higher octane fuels are used for vehicles with higher compression ratios. So if you're driving Ferrari and filling RON95, your engine will be ruined in long run.

For the pedal lock, let me capture it tonight for you.

This is the locktech, there are many similar brands but the ori is made is Thailand and the key has Thai wordings. I went to the local assessories shop here and they say the locktech model they have can fit the Camry but the push start disable feature is not working coz the wire not suitable. Have to wait for new batch to arrive.
*
Yeah, thats the one. But mine has the push start disable feature. BoUght it in GLS Auto USJ 7.

sorry, i read it from your photo capture of the info display meter, 20.6km/l, that is not correct?
*
Display meter will show actual value (blue indcator for average, not the green one) if u reset after filling full tank. I've done several test & calculation to confirm it.
My average FC only between 14-15km/l per full tank.

If u want to check fc per trip it will display on green bar chart after u turn off the engine. This fc per trip can go up 29km/l for short distance driving (under 60km/h) since in EV mode.

I'm 25 as well. Actually I didn't plan on buying any car until Tesla coming into Malaysia(which I hope for 2 years back). Getting this car is a sudden plan because my younger brother need a car and I gave him my Persona. So I'm researching some option for my next car and lucky enough Camry Hybrid is launching that time. So without much hesitation I just made my booking.

Not a fan of super car / luxury car, what I appreciate is the technology together with the car. Tesla will always be my first choice, but since it's not coming into Msia anytime soon. I just got myself a Camry Hybrid.

Yea, many 90s nowadays won't put too much money on property. My friend rather get a Audi TT instead of getting a house... My advice: house first, car later. Totally agreed with what Coolken saying.

AGREED with bro, i previously damn kiam siap to buy a car, been using the small i10 (my sis leftover after she further to study) until i accident and total lost the car.

The reason i buy also appreciate the hybrid technology. I not guy who care the outlook whether uncle or not, i just wan comfort ride since my job require me to travel long distance as often. honestly ,sound system is my first priority and par with the NVH which is the key to a decent sound quality too. if any car within budget is come with better sound system combine with a good NVH, totally will be my sayur

If on a budget teana is a pretty nice choice as well, don't forget it is way cheaper as well ( after discount maybe around 10k cheaper )

Wow! I feel old in this group... hehehehe...I'm 38

By the way, can I check with those who have already used the mirror link.
Is it true that when your phone is connected, this impacts your audio from other sources?
As in you cannot play any music from your USB drive or radio, if your phone is connected via mirror link?
I was told of this by a friend who drives the Honda City.

Also, I am having a problem charging my phone via the car's USB slot, as in it doesn't charge.
I read an american article on the Camry that which states:
"You may be annoyed when you find out the Camry’s USB jack cannot charge a tablet or other device drawing more than 5 watts"

Is this true? Do the rest of you guys have the same issues on charging via USB?

What phone are you using? I haven't try to connect thru mirror link. Waiting for other SIFU to share some tips here. As for USB port, I can charge thru this port with my iPhone. Haven't try to charge a tablet before though. One thing is when I charge my iPhone via the USB port, i will be able to connect my phone using IPOD mode (basically quite the same comparing connecting via bluetooth). Just that it will display your songs info when you connect via USB.

Another owner reporting in from the north. Taken delivery of the car for three weeks now doing about 3,000KM. So far so good. Fuel consumption is crazy. 46 litre can get about 600KM in Penang city driving. My CX5 skyactiv is no where near there. Taken in to KL and the FC is even better in Klang valley.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the initiative to start this thread!

Received my car on 25-April and satisfied with the FC before until I read all your previous messages here! how could some of you achieve up to 19km/L while I only manage to get 13.5km/L on city drive.... cry.gif

As for the MIRRORLINK, done some testing and google search, there is an APPS provided by Samsung called DRIVELINK for samsung phone to link to the Car-entertainment unit, unfortunately, Samsung have discontinued the update of this apps from Android KITKAT version onward.

I'm using the SGS5 with android Lollipop, Lollipop come with "mirror link" option on the setting but the JBL AVN refuse the connection despite i've try with the micro-USB 3.0 cable.

Check with SC on the first service and they don't even know what mirror link is, I think we have to raise this concern to UMWT directly and make sure to appoint a "knowledageable" support center for this AVN.

Hi guys,

DO you think the whining sound from the motor "Regenerative Braking" when braking is annoying? I understand from some PRIUS and PRIUS C owner that the sound is normal as the "by-product" of hybrid system, however, I really think UMW should provide a better soundproofing to mute out the whining sound, even though the camry range is not as luxury as the Lexus ES300h and NX300h which using the same hybrid motor + engine, but this annoying sound should be putting off from Camry as well like what LEXUS cars does!

I've complain this to the SC and on the mytoyota.com.my online survey, a UMW customer service guy called me to find out more about my complain, as expected, standard "professional" answer from them "will bring up to the technical team attention and see what they can do...".

As the first batch owner of the Camry Hybrid in Malaysia, may I request your co-operation to raise this complain to the SC on your next service? they will definitely answer you "this is regenerative braking sound which is normal for hybrid car, PRIUS also same...", please tell the SA that told you this to go and find out whether LEXUS ES300h or NX300h having the same annoying sound that can be hear clearly in the cabin.

We need LOUDER VOICE to kick UMW butt to look seriously into enhance the soundproof to mute out the motor whining sound, please help!

My toyota Altis also experience this problem.... 2.0V highest spec with 6 airbags VSC TRC

Mind me ask your situation is like when you stopped at traffic at 0km/h and accelerate your pedal to 20-50km/h.. then u can heard like whining sound from engine compartment... when u move windows a bit down u can hear the sound is quite high pitch during night time or when u drive on straight road during no cars....

or ur whining sound is different?... and all camry hybrid are affected?
*
Hi,

The sound is not on high pitch, it's hard to describe in word, let me try to "spell" it out here... it's sound like "uuuuuuuuhhmmm...." when brake gradually from 40kmh to near standstill / standstill, especially on slowing down on the speed bump, slowing down when approaching traffic light, it's sound like the star-war space ship landing.

test drive car having the sound as well.

In both of our cases, we shouldn't compromise on this, UMW still have to rectify or to improve on their product as this "unusual" sound shouldn't happen, they should put in a little more effort / cost to get it resolve, ask them why the competitor product -- Honda civic, elantra, mazda3, kia k3..etc doesn't have this sound but toyota altis has it?

it's more on the business etiquette and responsibility to the consumer when come to the quality of the product, I'm sure Toyota co. in Japan would be very interested hear the complain and get it resolved, but, UMW might only emphasizing on the money-making side.... we should sound it out to UMW and don't get them "pampered" by us.

Hi Blacktubi,

thanks for the info, but, the sound of the camry hybrid is not the CVT whine but the motor "regenerative braking" sound, the motor turn opposite way to act as a dynamo for recharging the battery.

I am replying to aromachong regarding the whine on his Altis. wink.gif

The whine on the Camry Hybrid seem to occur on those sold in foreign market as well, looks like not much can be done on Toyota side.

Impossible. I strongly oppose that

For example Toyota Vios CKD in S.Alam got more problem than CBU THAILAND/JAPAN

You can read all over the internet, toyota facebook, tribetoyota(which they taken down), etc... how bad CKD car was.. you can read all over this forum car clubs how owners experienced with CKD cars.

Do you think we have expert in malaysia and not to mention even technology where we are far away behind other countries. Our assembling parts, our assembling technique, etc.... i don't even have guts to think about it... CKD... lol...

That is one of the main reason which turns me away from Camry Hybrid.. If it was CBU, then it's DEFINITELY MY CHOICE, no doubts !!

nope. both are for low beam, the high beam is normal projector lamp bulb.

dual LED projector headlamp is bright enough that usage of high beam is almost not required

I think the reason why we are getting so much goodies in the Camry Hybrid is because they need to price this car higher than their 2.0. So instead of selling a basic hybrid camry at 120k, they pumped up the car with so many goodies to sell at 175k. The similar car specs in Thailand even though thailand also have hybrid incentives cost Rm210k. I think this car is a steal.

Finnaly got the car few days ago.

Very headache going through the user manual. My previous car is just a very simple car.

Wanted to share this i think is useful to everyone. Page 149 electronic key battery saving function.

Press and hold on the locked button and double click the unlocked button before releasing the locked button. This will save your secondary key from running out of battery i guess when you are not using it.

Maybe will try to ask that during my first service, most probably the answer by sc is nothing can be done.

Also did any of you register online? There is a merit point, once you hit 4000 points you will become merit member you get 5% discount when service in umw sc. It said we can earn 1700 (1% of new car purchas price) but my profile still 0 points.

Drove for two weeks of Camry Hybrid, generally the petrol saving is about 13.5km/l, so if assumed 65l as the maximum around 877km, this is considered average but I suspect the battery is still new to charge that is why it is a bit low.

In term of car is really worth for every single cent, lots of accessories without paying more and the performance is just great. The only thing I dont like is the rear side design, I found that is it still not really sporty. Haha, may be I demanded too much.

Just finished my first service, manage to sort the rattling noise which originated from a loose plastic cover below the steering wheel. So far so good. Hopefully it stays that way.

Just have to upgrade the tail lamp to the 3rd party LED type and that will surely change the looks of the whole rear side.

So far only available in China, I'm still waiting for Taiwan product instead of china tail lamp and the last check with Eagle Eye they have only the pre-facelift version which is different than the 2015 Camry, just matter of time I'm sure they will release. The china version costs around MYR 1200 before shipping.

any one here try to "Android Auto" apps to connect android phone to toyota camry AVN?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?....gearhead&hl=en

you can download the apps from play store, unfortunately only AT&T, Verizon and another carrier of SGS5 and SGS4 with Android 5.0 and above is supported, but not my SGS5 with local firmware...

Bro, does it sounds like vibrating sounds, or sounds like something loosen inside the dashboard or they didn't clip something properly inside the dashboard?

I notice it today, it is between the digital clock and air vent there...

How your sc advise you on this?

It's like low vibrating sound at the meter panel. The service center say it's from a plastic panel below the steering wheel which they already put some extra insulation. But for me the sound came back again after a while especially on bumpy roads and cornering. I already told them again and they ask to bring back to them for further check.

Looks like there is no end to this issue yet. They clocked some 250km doh.gif to get this fixed and it keeps coming back after a while.

The sound comes when you are driving on uneven/rough surface road at around 40 to 60km/h. Gonna send in again to get it check. sad.gif

guys, Im planning to get the new Camry as well. Actually Im aiming for 2.0G, but all SA keep pushing hybrid to me. Im not really concern about the price hence just difference not more than rm200 for monthly installment. But Im concerning about hybrid engine parts durability after 3yrs warranty. Aside from going in and out service centre, concern might need to forkout huge sum for each faulty part occur. However I do like the awesome FC and full accessories in hybrid, but I also dont mind getting a less accessories 2.0G with conservative engine. Now Im in dilemma choosing either one. Would appreciate any kind advise here...

I guess there is no standard charge for installation, all depends on how well is the relationship with installer. In my case I did the undercarriage autofoam and firewall sound proofing so the installation was bundled .
The TPMS requires power supply and the HUD is getting the power straight from ODB2 port so no power tapping required however the display panel is built for LHR so modification is needed in order to get it mounted on right hand speaker cover.

My thought would be the toyota hybrid should be quite mature by now. It has been in market for more than 10 years by now?

What i am more concern would be the skill level the local service center on maintaining those car for the owner. Since toyota hybrid car has been in malaysia for quite a fe years now i think shouldnt be any problem.

I would go for hybrid version since it is value for money in malaysia if compare with others model. Others model are just overprice and i wont buy.

Since the camry hybrid is ckd and very new in malaysia, we still wouldnt know what kind of issue it might created. But i believe in toyota technology and toyota is very conservative company, they wouldnt has launch a technology which is not yet proven to be realible enuf. People always bashing toyota for their old but reliable technology but i like them for not simply put a not proven tech into the car. What i can see from their previous model are all realiable car, vios, altis, camry, judging from the feedback i get from my friend that drive toyota.

Better send to umw centers since the hubrid is more complicated and delicate. However any authorize centers should be ok n will not void warranty

My Hybrid also had rattling noise on the driver side dashboard. Took it to the SC and the technician said loose bottom cover which he has push it back. Now no rattling noise but very soft plastic creaking noise only once in a while.

Thanks for your value input, appreciate it...

Bro, you have any idea which piece of the plastic cover the technician pushed back?

Do you mind to share some pictures to show?
*
I was not in the work shop to witness it. The service adviser only said that the technician push back the bottom cover.
But after about 2 days, the annoying creaking plastic noise coming back again.
Will contact the service center again.

Looks like there is no end to this issue yet. They clocked some 250km doh.gif to get this fixed and it keeps coming back after a while.

The sound comes when you are driving on uneven/rough surface road at around 40 to 60km/h. Gonna send in again to get it check. sad.gif

Hi, have you taken the car back to the SC. any feedback. My car looks like having the same sound. Told the SA and they say they added insulation, but still have the intermittent creaking plastic noise. I will have to take the car back in again. My old camry never had this type of problems.

Same with mine. The problem started after few hundred km and become obvious everytime go through uneven road. I sent for service yesterday and after service was so happy tot they fix the problem after short drive, the happiness was short while only and during my 30mins drive to ofis and the irritating sound still come occassionally. Need to send in again. This is really waste of time.

i brought the car to the SC twice, first time i had to leave the car at the SC for 3 workings days which they clocked some 250km. Everything was good when i picked up the car for like a week and some 100km drive and the annoying sound came back again. 2nd time had to leave the car for like half a day and when i picked up everything was fine again for like another few days and back to the same. its been driving me nuts. Will be sending in again on 5000km service to get it looked again.

The problem only happens on certain speed for me, slow and smooth drive at 40-60km/h, can't really hear it when you are accelerating or going above 80km/h. i had a thought like picking a route and speed for the technician listen to the noise. hmm.gif

Hi Guys, I have a few questions to ask since I am considering to upgrade to this Hybrid Camry soon.

My daily travel consist a lot of short distance, KL traffic jam, stop and go situation where the average speed is always below 50km/h. There is a frequent need for me to off and on engine since I get down from my car to deliver stuffs a lot of time.

1) Up to what speed does the Camry runs in full EV mode?
(Prius C can run up till 60km/h before the engine kicks in to assist)

2) How long does the battery last when u are idling with the aircon on?
(Prius C battery can run the aircon with battery for around 10-15mins before the engine kicks in to recharge the battery)

3) How long does it takes to recharge the battery when the car is idling?
(Prius C recharges in around 5-7mins from 10% to 80% level)

which is better buy , a camry hybrid, or a 3 year old harrier / mark x ?
i ask because a 3 year old harrier or mark x would cost around 170k also.
*
of course the camry hybrid

new car vs second hand (recon) car
better tech than the Harrier
better fuel economy than the Harrier and Mark X
better resale value than the Mark X

thats what i was thinking too. but why so many people driving recond harrier ? they must know something we dont.
*
most who drive Harrier are those who is in the market for a high driving position car but find the regular 2.0L 4-pot mid-sized SUVs available for sale is a bit underwhelming (in terms of power and premium feel) for their liking. However, that being said, the XU30 Harrier is quite old now and the Camry Hybrid just oozes with more tech compared to the Harrier.

all the feedbacks and review coupled with the wow factor when seeing a hybrid OTR makes me have a serious look at this model.

In terms of resale value, would a hybrid be worst off than a standard camry model tho?

Fuel economy is great. But I find the onboard ecu is under reporting the consumption by 0.3-0.5L/100km. I can average 5.5-6.5L/100km for the tank of 45+L. Per trip below 6L. But if battery is to low it will go charging and go up to 6.5+. Drove 250km on mixed locals and got 5.5. Another 100km got 4.8. I think the average is only accurate if the battery is more than 4bars. Else the next trip will be very high in consumption.

Going over uneven or bumps that case one side to go up or down seem to cause the driver side door to move a little. I hear the rubber noise on the door.

Just got my car delivered yesterday.

Notice from the Navigation system owner manual, to do mirrorlink on the Iphone, you need to download a launcher app. Anyone knows which apps to download?

I had searched on the App Store and there is no mirrorlink software.

I think the mirrorlink app is linked to which head unit you are using, anyone knows what brand of head unit our Camry Hybrid is using?

I received a credit of RM 1,700.00 in my service account. Every time you go for service, they will deduct the amount from the RM 1700 credit you have until the amount is gone. Not sure how many Km it can cover but they claim it can last for 2 years service.

Some updates about the dashboard rattling plastic noise.
Took the car to the SC, waited for the technician, then took the car out with the technician. The technician acknowledged that there is some noise and gave the option to "try" to fix it or leave it until the noise gets louder.
I chose to fix it so need to make another appointment.
Took the car back again and left the car there for the whole day. They say the noise comes from the speaker cover. After driving the car for the past 1 week, there is still a little bit of plastic rattling noise on certain road condition, but the sound is very much softer and the occurrences are also much less.

Some thoughts after driving it for 2 months.

Pros:
+ NVH
+ torque & power. Feel faster then my BMW E46 325i that has 245NM and 193bhp
+ interior space, especially front & rear leg room and overall comfort
+ averaging between 14 - 17 km/l depending on driving mood for the day.
+ boot can accommodate 4 medium size golf bags despite smaller boot due to battery
+ for the price, hard to find another D segment car with such power, features, fuel economy and reliability.

Cons:
- Still too much plastics in the car, hence can hear minor rattles on rough roads.
- at low speeds can feel road imperfections.
- while power is good, brake dont ooze confidence (coming from bmw experience)
- no solution to water entering grooves of the rear lights.
- whiney regenerative brake.

As balance a view as I cant get. Overall, I am happy with the car.

Actually i will not accept it as design issue. Are you going to umw sc? How could someone design a rear light that water can leak into it? It is a brainless explaination. If this is really a design issue, then this will be my last car from toyota/umw, cause they couldnt get the rear light right, how could they get others more complex component right?

Hi,

Does anyone experience water entering the edges of the rear lights of your
camry hybrid. The SC told me that they cant do anything as it is a design
issue.

Did anyone try to go with Toyota own financing plan flexiplan? I'm interested because it calculate the interest like house loan, and if u have more money, u can just pay more to reduce principle amount.

If you have found a solution please inform us. The SC supervisor told me if I am unhappy I can file a complaint which I did. But he offered no remedy because he said it is the same with all other cars of this model.

I had similar problem with my 2004 vios, problem only appeared after 1 year plus. i got replacement for both headlights and almost entering the second year of owning the car i got my right rear light replaced as well with same issue. It didn't take much of time after i brought in the car. i was told wait about 1 to 2 weeks for replacement parts arrive and they me called to bring the car over to get the lights replaced.

My advice bring your car to a different service center to complaint of your issue. if its not a umw sc.

Guys i think found where the rattling sound comes from, after much of tolerance to the noise tongue.gif

Try to hold the piece when you hear the rattling sound, it goes off instantly.

Now the next time i bring in the car to SC, hope they get it fixed properly.

So far my car havent got the rear light water leak issue. The solution should come from umw since this is wellknown issue to them. now it is telling us to accept it and they wont do anything about it. Haaizzz. Right now only the rattling sound problem from dash board that is bothering me now.

How many of u already have this water leak issue? How long does it take for issue to appeared?

Anyone having the low beam on the right side being lower? When the projected light is at the far end it shows a Z edge. Service center adjusted but still the same.

Driver side door can hear the seal rub when going thru uneven road or left side up or down. A little like a twist in the chassis.

Hi Guys,

Someone may have asked this before but can anyone confirm that the battery charge doesn't go above 6 bar? It has a total of 8 bars, but I noticed it never go above 6 and never go below 2 bars, no matter how much i drive and brake.
We know how important the battery is to our fuel savings, so effective only 4 bars of battery is being used out of 8, doesn't sound optimum.

It did goes up to 7th bar if u keep sprinting, the reason it never full or never go below 2 bar is due to your air condition, lights and sound system. unless u run ur car without everything On then u might get full bar as i assuming

Can anyone tell me why Toyota put such a high cc engine on the camry despite it is a hybrid?

Normally if got electric motor help engine cc can be reduced until at least 2.0cc.
Eventhough it is still efficient on the road but why need to carry such a heavy engine moving around rather than smaller engine which definately lighter and more efficient than this 2.5cc.

toyota selected a 2.5L as they already have an existing petrol/electric motor setup, so it is easier to put it in the market. I don't think they have a 2L/electric motor setup, so to put it in the market, a lot of research will have to done to get everything working together.
The 2.5L engine is an Atkinson cycle which is designed for fuel economy rather than power. The power that you need for pickup will be supplemented by the electric motor which can output its entire torque from 0 rpm.
The 2.5L will be more for cruising at its optimum rpm for Fuel Econ.
The Hybrid setup should be the power equivalent of a 3L Otto cycle engine, (which is less fuel efficient)., Thus you save about Rm1300 in road tax, but with the fuel econ of a Myvi(?)
I think the only other Toyota engine hybrid setup is the PRIUS 1.8L engine.
Please correct me if I am wrong. I am not in automotive engineering. I am just waiting to buy the Camry Hybrid at the optimum price, hence my interest. Nor am I an agent of Toyota.
If I am not wrong, a 2L HYBRID will only be the equivalent of a 2.5L car model, which I am not really interested in.
The other 2L cars will need turbo induction which means turbo lag, less driveability in Cities as torque will only come in when turbo boosted (Usually 1800rpm), which of course comes with its own set of mechanical /electronic problems, though they are pretty reliable nowadays.

I tried 190kmh on highway before, very easy and even the meter still barely under the ECO category instead of PWR.

and suprisingly at such speed, the cabin noise still at minimum, still very enjoyable

Top speed is limited at 185kph. Power is then cut off even if you keep the accelerator to the floor. You probably touched 190 while going down a slope as the power is cut off.

I tested the hybrid on mex. wind noise crept in above 140 and becomes unbearable near the limiter. Not sure if my test drive car was poorly assembled or the wind was particularly strong that day.

At 185kph, the car feels floaty and disconnected from the road probably that's the reason they put a speed limiter. It should not dampen a potential buyer's interest anyway as it was never marketed as a sports sedan or meant to be driven at such speeds.

I've touched about 160+km/h on the East Coast highway.
It was easily done....but I do agree with you that wind noise was bad after 140.
Doesn't really annoy me as I rarely drive that fast.

I have to say that the handling of the car on the Karak is very impressive, and I feel much more confident taking the sloping corners than my previous car which was a 2008 Civic FD2.
Of course these corners are not taken at extremely high speeds.....more like from 80 to 120 km/hr.

1.Perhaps due to i upgrade from A-segment to Camry . i really feel its very power . Yes the battery motor does drain as often.

2. Compare to the Hyundai i10 previously, the cabin noise are considered minimal , plus i am listening to music, thus the wind notice are less noticeable ?

3.Floaty wise i dont feel so la, normally only 1 seater max 2, overall im satisfied with the driving experience.

Doesn't really annoy me as I rarely drive that fast.

I have to say that the handling of the car on the Karak is very impressive, and I feel much more confident taking the sloping corners than my previous car which was a 2008 Civic FD2.
Of course these corners are not taken at extremely high speeds.....more like from 80 to 120 km/hr.

yea, i was testing the NVH so i turned off the music. the whirring "turbine" sound is also heard when moving from a stop or coming to a stop. also there's an annoying "click" sound whenever you press the brake pedal.

Yea bro, you can test with totally silence but lets not too technical. Must be practical abit ma , as we normal drive with music on one. Nothing is perfect, since you already bought the car, why let urself get annoyed by some of its flaw with unpractical test, it NVH already best in class compare to most of car. suffer le if keep pick bone within the eggs

By the way, im totally in love with this car surround system, that one of the selling point for me smile.gif

Hi All,

We are also planning of getting a Camry Hybrid, may I know what is the rate of discount now?

Any known problems besides the rattling sound and the brake whizzing?

2 things i wish the car will have - the auto tilt side view mirror (passenger side) and the front sensors (the existing front side sensors tend to miss objects directly in front). overall a good family car.

Yeah they should have put a couple of front sensors also. The side ones are good but not very practical

Actually I drive with the music on.
I guess it's just that at lower speeds, the car is impressively quiet.
So when I exceed 130-140 km/h, the wind noise is quite apparent.

that's the cooling fan sound. it runs faster and noisier the faster you drive (to cool the hybrid batteries)

it's normal for hybrid cars, but i find the cooling fans in the camry to be noisier and runs faster than Jazz or CRZ. Not sure about Prius/PriusC as i've never sat in one.

[/quotethankyou for your sharing !

my FC is quite good , and i upgrade the audio system by :
install woofer set with amplifier , without need cut any wire, just plug in play , wont void guarantee status, and i add an extra 2 High~End Tweeter , before add the sound is Clear expecialky on Sorround 5.1 Sound, but after i install , the sound is Much Much Better , Clear , and Woofer Bass is Good
, Only Disadvantages is influence FC worst around 5% ,
because of using More Electricity !

i take my car at 18/5/2015, now runing about 3,700km
average i can get 17.4km, best can get is 24.8kpl
now targer i want to hit average 19.23kpl as toyota claim, i try now, maybe after 5,000 or 10,000km , i can achieve this average 19.23kpl !

before driving camry hybrid , i have 3 year experience on drivibg hybrid car honda insight , so i learn little bit a way to get hybrid car more better FC, overall due to honda insight is only 1.3little cc , small engine , althought is not full hybrid but in low speed , insight FC is better than camry hybrid , the best FC for insight is 29kpl , average at 21kpl , around 10% better than toyota camry hybrid .both car i drive around 30% hyway
70% city drive !

I wanted to sharing little bit this camry hybrid after driving 3 month untill now :
For better FC i use method :
1) on engine runing part : because camry hybrid is 2.5cc large engine : FC better on high speed : from :70~110kmp
Try to maintain on engine runing speed at this speed

2) In motor electric part :
I trt once time only can hit maximum battery level at 8 bar ,when long down hill , and for more better regeneration ,using B Mode at downline , you will see battery level at least 7 bar to full 8 bar , than try to light foot using all this battery at more lower speed , than ypur FC sure will be much better

At highway normally the battery only recharge maximum 6
Bar level, he wont fully charge at highwat speed :
I using 2 method to make compared :

1) hby using cruise control at 108kmp ,from kl to seremban toll, my FC is 18.5kpl ,

But i use another technic is :
2) Do not using cruise control , speed around 100~110kmp
Than when i see the battery level charge untill at least 5 bar or above, i will using light foot to drive at ev mode ,zero fuel consumption, maintain speed around 70-90kmp ,finish the battery level untill 2 bar , and repeat this method again and again !
By this driving method i can hit 22.6kpl compare with cruise control only achive 18.5kpl , with the same road same distance , this is my result !
If you want to get highest FC at highway or kampong road(non highway ) engine speed around 70-90kmp , after battery at 4~6bar, using ev mode, same this method , you can get highest FC at kampong Road also !

This is my experience to sharing !

I buy this car is because the toyota reliability on hybrid technology, good Price offer on 2.5cc hybrid car,
And no other hybrid car ib this group can choice,
I like Honda accord hybrid also, i Thailand have, but because Malaysia dont have , this accord hybrid is better than camry hybrid in term of hybrid technology :
Especially at electric motor part : accord hybrid is full hybrid system also with motor 166hp (camry is 141hp ) torque is 307nm ( camry only 270nm )
I drive before accord hybrid at Thailand , the motor power is much good campare with camry hybrid, accord hybrid at speed 80-110kmp , i still can see easily the ev mode icon display when the battery bar 4 and above ( camry only can at maximum speed 80kmp , more than 80speed ,we can't see the ev mode icon display) and engine part is 2.0 little on accord, sure is better FC compare with 2.5cc camry hybrid , the accord FC is better than camry hybrid around 20% , at Thailand official average FC for accord id 23.6kpl (camey 19.6kpl in thailand )
But sayang no launching accord hybrid at Malaysia, if not we got another choice

This car problem is :maybe due to CKD
1) plastic noise in the carbin at front driver part ,the car at this price, should not happen , cheap quality fell
2) back light got water leaking : should not happen also
3) and breaking noise ,everytime when using break

Other part , untill now i quite satisfied !

Try ntfs, no luck, it said USB cannot use. So format to FAT32, mp3 song no problem, but video format cannot recognized Try both MP4 and WMV video format also cannot, suspect codec issue. The user manual said FAT16 or 32, and format MP4, WMV, these seem not working.....

Seem like no one try to play video via USB? Just wondering what is the detail MP4 and WMV format (ie video bit rate, audio type) that is supported by the player. When I play the MP3 song, I can see the video option, but just cannot play the video in the USB stick. Aiyo, so common now a day play from USB stick, but the player seem need very specific/particular format to be recognized.

Hi Ecos, can i know how much for the plug and play sub woofer and amp ? Where is the shop location? Thanks....

Hi,
Due to factory limitation, the camry hybrid navigation system wilk10 speaker with JBL amplifiers themselves, but because if less use electric setting, the output setting to middle and low, the clear sound is quite good, but the tweeter and bass is totally not enough ,
Than if wanted to upgrade the siund system ypu can added an High-End Tweeter
My one is brand Flash ( if not mistaken the name)
Tweeter set price RM750 per set

I installed at taman muda cheras, RM1,200 HERTZ plug and play woofer with builtin amplifier without modified needed , quality is good, after installation you bass level and tweeter level very good , than wilk solved the sound system problems

Only disadvantages is your Your FC will lower around 5% due to using more electricity of the unit added

For best FC number , you can refer to beliw videi , is very useful for me tohit higher FC number

15km trip from cheras to puchong
Go 22.1kpl
Back from puchong tocheras 22.4kpl

It seem no one have a clear answer. Mostly just guessing. It sound like joke that Toyota cannot provide detail on the function of the good system they installedin the car. The manual do have some general spec, which thought should be straightforward but it seem not.

Guys do you all notice the keyless entry is a bit inconvenience. U can only open or closed from the driver side, can't they make it both side cause majority of time i need to put my stuff first on the passenger side then only drives. And i think they should make also have the walk away auto lock so that once we walk away from the car it will auto lock, i find the keyless entry lacking compared to my Mazda which has all this so its so much more convenient.

You can open all doors using the remote control key.
That is what i do when I want to access from passenger side.

I have been seriously considering ordering the Camry hybrid. I have done some research from this forum as well as other forums overseas - they have more years of experience with Camry hybrid.
I discover a number of facts which cause me to avoid buying the Camry hybrid:
1. The 8 years warranty UMW toyota give to Camry hybrid owners in Malaysia for battery does not cover other very expensive hybrid synergy drive components such as the Inverter (which cost RM40,000 just for the Inverter alone) to if it gives problems after 3 years. In USA, Australia and other countries, Toyota 8 year warranty is not just for the hybrid battery alone but also inclusive of all hybrid synergy drive components. I think Malaysian consumers have been taken for a ride.
2. UMW toyota Malaysia did not inform potential buyers that the auxiliary 12V battery used in Camry hybrid and Prius hybrid is not the same as the standard starter battery in normal vehicles. It uses a deep cycle lead acid battery and it is warranted for 1 year. If this battery needs to be replaced (which under Malaysian high ambient temperature should be good for 2 to 4 years) it cost around RM1450 for Camry hybrid and RM1050 for Prius from UMW toyota. Hey! How many of you are aware or have been informed by your Toyota SC about this time bomb after 2 to 4 years - the the price is likely to escalate in the future as this type of battery is imported with our Ringgit depreciating by about 30% against the USD.
3. Once all these facts become known in due time, the resale value of Camry hybrid will be severely affected in the Malaysian market as I feel that the typical Malaysian Camry owner will not be willing to pay such high costs of maintenance.
So, I am glad I have not jumped in. I hope Camry hybrid owners here can verify the information I have discovered so that you will not be taken by surprise and please correct me if any of the facts provided is incorrect.

Hi all Camry Hybrid owners,
Have anyone tried updating the GPS maps? I noticed that most of the time I could not find the location or place that i wanted. I couldn't even find my own house address ( stayed here for more than 5 years already)
Current situation is so bad that I would say the GPS system is worse off than my Garmin NUVI 200 and also Waze...
Can anyone advice. Thanks

Hi,does it really make much difference ? When you wash your car? Do you need to use shampoo to wash off the dirt? Especially lower part of the car? Try to give us a review;) I'm sure many of us wanted to do but still 50/50 because didn't have convincing user review.. Appreciate if you can share us your experience so far:)

HELLO GUYS ! YO !

I am happy to be joining all of you in this forum as I await gleefully my BRAND NEW

TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID 2.5

I will be getting the car next week!
I have been soucting and searching all over the D - Segment and other alternatives including SUVS. and I can say with a happy heart that the car is the BEST overall.
You we can all have a peace of mind that we made the best choice out there available.
PS :::::
SHALL WE ALL CREATE A CAMRY HYBRID FAMILY CLUB?
WE CAN GO FOR A DRIVE DURING THE WEEKENDS etc. etc.

GATHERING OF THE CAMRY HYBRID's SHOULD BE QUITE A SIGHT and Interesting at the same time.

BTW i am 23 years old and I think the Camry is NICE !!
*
Oh.. 23yrs old, very young indeed rclxms.gif . Wonder who pay for the down payment or monthly installment (half-half..?). If parents tanggung, nothing to shout about what... Common sense la, if a 23 yrs old fresh graduate can own a RM170k+ car...

As the shop claimed 5 years warranty......and is up to you trust it or not. Maybe the coating can last for 5 years, but the shop close down 3 years later...then how?? If you want to know the critical question, maybe i will answer it after 5 years later or and maybe i sell the car 3 years later......

Maintenance is not that big. Also you get good FC on this car compared to fuel guzzling civic. I'd say atleast 40% you will save on fuel. As this car has huge discounts now and 8 years warranty.

Note that as per my info from UMW, the price will be 16% higher from January 2016 onwards.

What I hear from Toyota is it will affect performance and the purpose of hybrid is gone... however, changing rims doesnt loose warranty. Unless you touch the sound system, electrics tongue.gif

Was attract by mirrorlink feature. they claimed the MirrorLink function enables our smartphone's display to be shown and operated on the vehicle's touch screen, via the USB connection. However, nobody can advise how this feature works with my Samsung

And will this product work to mirror it? Any suggestion?

ya.. i'm aware of that as well.. one of my friend said i'm heavy duty user, don't take hybrid car.. maintenance and repair cost after warranty is higher compare to Accord / Teana. i don't know how true is this.
*
Certainly the service cost will be higher than non-hybrid car after 3 years warranty ended. After 3 years any problem occur will need to send back to Toyota SC and it is a must, because no 3rd party workshop can handle hybrid car especially it requires specific knowledge and equipment to diagnose hybrid car. 8 years warranty is solely on battery only, 3 years on engine and hybrid components etc. Since you consider as heavy user as per your work nature, you really have to think further before deciding hence rm160k+ car is not cheap...

Guys I am facing a problem. Im guessing we are all aware that our RM174k Ride does not come with an 'alarm' (just lock/unlock keyless entry) function or as we know the 'panic' button.

I feel that is a bit on a frustrating side especially when a lot of cheaper cars do come with that option.

Anyhow, anyone here upgraded or added an alarm system for the RM174k car?

Especially helpful if you want to chase away anyone too close to comfort to your car OR when you forgotten where you parked your car.

Haha. Thank you smile.gif

Is anyone interested in purchasing a set of lock nuts to protect the rims against theft? I was quoted RM 180 for TPI lock nuts (4 nuts intotal ) which are supposedly better than your average lock nuts. If there's enough interest here I might be able to get a bulk discount for everyone .

which option is better ?

1. continue servicing at Toyota service center from years 4-8 in order to maintain the battery warranty.

2. service at outside workshop starting from year 4 onwards and forget about the battery warranty

Does anyone knows the escalation to Toyota Malaysia? Either the branch manager or Regional Manager of UMW in Malaysia that we can write to ? Preferably an email address to route to . Appreciate your share and information pls. This is regards to malfunction of the Hybrid pulling to left and no one from service center could rectified. Im afraid of getting a Lemon . Thanks

Do you mean when you take your hands off the steering, the car pulls to the left on a straight Road? If so, seems like it is a simple wheel alignment problem - easily rectified. The service centre should be able to fix it, so can many of the type shops. Good luck.

Hi guys, I have just ordered the new camry hybrid, I get 12K rebate and 500 voucher.

I would like to know why most of the user here choose the pearl white. I wanted to go for pearl white but finally decided to get the black as white is difficult to take care and maintain.

basically I was attracted to camry hybrid because of the FC, currently I am using a Livina 1.8, with 17" rims. full tank can only run about 370-400km.

Hope to learn new knowledge and get some information shared from you. cheers

I'm no hybrid expert, have only driven my cousin's hybrid. I guess to get good fc at Hwy,the car must not exceed electric motor speeds. That can be quite boring especially with a 2.5 litre engine.

Second value for Hyundai I may add. Tats y shifting to Toyota, at least better rv. My dad 9 yrs old vios still able to trade in for 29k nearly half the initial price. Well not a surprise for me when I opt for Korean brand.

Went to UMW service center to complain they agree it is noisy. Then when I went for the insulation install appointment, hq want to compare with another car. The result is both car is the same so won't install. Their reason is this car already have medium insulation. Plus nobody had complained. Wasting my time.

My other 2 complains are wind noise at 100km/h. 1st time bring in to sales center the service advisor say it is by design for aerodynamic. 4th time bring in to UMW only lowered by 70%. After adjusting door becomes tight. I also found door frame gapping at side mirror not even. Tail pipe not with bumper space, they can't adjust.

Yet to include 55% rebate. If include, should be ~rm15k+ rebate or net of ~rm160k.

I don't really trust the meter consumption. From the read up, It should be ~750-800km for rm100. Currently on my sonata, the fc is ~ 470km only. If this is true, this will be a great saving to me rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

On the alarm no sound, well my sonata also without sound and similarly my daughter's axia alarm also without sound. Probably new trend after 2011? biggrin.gif
