Decided to try to play around with Binance a bit and buy some random coins (DOGE) using my card... Turns out that HSBC considers purchases on Binance to be a "Cash Advance" and charges RM 15 per transaction on this with no notification. The only reason I found out is because I noticed 2x RM 15 charges on my card labeled as "Cash Advance" and asked my RM about this - they were also unaware about Binance being considered a cash advance, and advised to immediately pay off the amount since a cash advance is considered a loan and is charged at a high interest rate.

Not only HSBC, pretty much most banks due to it being under a particular MCC code...cant remember what it was. read it somewhere on the forum.

some readings....

Visa and Mastercard reclassify MCC codes for the purchase of cryptocurrencies

https://www.paymentscardsandmobile.com/visa...yptocurrencies/

...it turns out that Visa and Mastercard have reclassified the way Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency purchases are processed on their networks.

The changes were noted as Bitcoin investors started noticing additional fees on their bank statements.

Even worse is that cash advances do not fall under the standard interest-free grace period that consumers expect for other credit card purchases.

anybody has experience applying via ringgitplus? one of the clause is as below.

The Organiser offers a gift ("Campaign Gift") to customers who are approved by HSBC and subsequently spend a minimum of RM1000 with their new credit card.

while waiting for ringgitplus to reply, anybody knows if the rm1000 has to be in one transaction or can be cumulative of a few transactions?

That's the confusing part actually.
The TnC wrote by RinggitPlus, but I believe HSBC the one define whether it's ewallet.
But if ask HSBC, they might tell Ringgitplus make the call.
Now I also donno who to ask, might as well ask if anyone here having experience.

ps: Bigpay offers eBelia, so i guess technically it's ewallet althou it offers prepaid/debit card.
