QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 26 2014, 05:00 PM) How about security wise? (is it like a blank check - so if anyone hold you at knife point, that can write how much they want to withdraw from your account ) True or not? The above How can it be a blank cheque? The bank is not stupid. When you want the bank to issue you a banker's cheque (sell to you in other words), you need to state the amount. You need to pay for the amount first. It's just like a normal cheque but the issuer is just the bank itself. This post has been edited by David83: Oct 26 2014, 05:04 PM

OK thanks. cause some family memebers telling me don't use banker's cheque. Very dangerous. If they robbed you of the cheque, they can empty your account. They told us to use cash. Get people to follow you when withdrawing FD in cash so no chance people will rob you of your cash All this while my FD, all I used cash. Now I know that is not true. Thanks

I guess his question is. If a banker cheque with RM10k amount issue to Name A, if someone Robber A got the banker cheque. Do Robber A able to get the money by deposit the cheque to his account.
My answer is No. Since the cheque issued to Name A, robber cannot get the money because the cheque is not issue to him. What he got is just a piece of paper.
Correct me if I'm wrong..thanks..

Getting Started

Hye guys im very noob about these fixed account thing. I would like to ask questions: Let say i joint this maybank fd http://www.maybank2u.com.my/mbb_info/m2u/p...l/ACC-Accounts/1) does that mean i will receive the profit every month? 2) what happen after the 60th month? No longer getting profit? 3) can we add/withdraw some of the money every month? Another thing is, some bank list like 1 month, 3 month, 6 months, let say during 3 month, we only received 3.6%, not 3.6%x3months? http://www.bankrakyat.com.my/term-deposit-account-iSorry if these questions are too basic. (your name or the receiving bank's name?)

QUOTE(David83 @ Oct 26 2014, 08:56 PM) However, if the robber acquires sophisticated tactic to change the name on the cheque ... It happened once in our company cheque (send to supplier through mail), payee name was altered to another name, using don't know what kind of eraser method. Luckily the bank spotted alteration suspicious and calling to verify, that prevent the fraud case. Since then our company never mail any cheque.

Nope ! Banks wouldn't practice that. Because you will curse the bank kaw kaw if the bank drop your second 6 months deposit rate instead of 4.38%......if OPR drop. If you already made the FD placement today, you will get the advertised 4.28% on your first roll-over six months later regardless of changes in OPR. If you haven't make any FD placement yet, then the 3.83% + 4.38% advertised rate is subject to revision should there be any OPR changes.
