Cause my parents making will. And they do not want to pay lawyer anymore if place new fd (you need to pay lawyer to update the will)

So if they put new fd in say scb, scb will give them new cert with new account no. So if they update the will with the new fd, they need to pay lawyer.

That is why they want to know if they can get all same account no from the same bank. That way, no need to pay lawyer.

hmm.gif need to update into WILL, EVERY time there is a new FD deposit?
was never informed of that before,
was told to write...."ALL my monies in banks will be...."
the bank will use in NRIC to check.....when I am gone.

Want to ask, say for a bank A which required fresh funds for fd,

Day 1 : Withdraw RM20k cash from bank A.
Day 2 : Bring back the RM20k to put fd in bank A.

Does this count as fresh fund?

few months ago....was told of same thing at Ambank.
cannot...have to transit out to other bank electronically/ cheque.
then transfer back to Ambank electronically from other bank or cheque.
they said my fund can be tracked thru NRIC.....Ambank to other bank, then other bank to ambank = fresh fund.
unsure of now or other branches/bank.

Great News, PBB increased their promo rate today, effective rate: 4.05%pa

hmm.gif jus spotted in the lower page of this brochure the fine prints that reads, " The promotional interest / profit rate will be subject to revision should there be any Overnight Policy Rate changes"..
is this common? does it means...if OPR goes up 0.25% next month..the rate in the FD would also automatically goes up too?

Nope ! Banks wouldn't practice that. Because you will curse the bank kaw kaw if the bank drop your second 6 months deposit rate instead of 4.38%......if OPR drop.
If you already made the FD placement today, you will get the advertised 4.28% on your first roll-over six months later regardless of changes in OPR.
If you haven't make any FD placement yet, then the 3.83% + 4.38% advertised rate is subject to revision should there be any OPR changes.

my FD with PB matured yesterday...went there today to enquire abt the PB FDXtra 3.83 and 4.28% FD promotion...
teller said can change from the FD cert to the promo...that can consider as fresh fund....BUT. BUT since my matured FD has joint names...the named persons MUST be present to open another SA....so as to enable interest to be credited in vmad.gif
ended up transferred out the monies to another bank. thumbup.gif

Really good PBB allow your matured FD money to be deposited for Promo. Can't you open a stand alone Savings Account yourself for the interest to be deposit into... I must go read the PBB's T&C. I know for Alliance Bank, I can credit the FD interest into any of the cert's named person individual savings account.
*
i did brought along my personal sa book for that purpose....teller said "no"..the list of people on the named FD MUST come to open a SA together... rclxub.gif ...i did went to another counter to confirm..."yes" same story.

guys, got some simple question..
Assume you got bank 1 bank 2..
if you wanna make FD, and u require to open acc as you dont have the bank 3..
u wanna open in bank 3 as the fd is better promo..
so you guys withdraw those cash and open in another bank? or any other way which is better?
*
hmm.gif as for me,...I would consider NOT just the returns of FD from bank 3.
I would also consider the extra amount of value I get from bank 3 and the "cost" to be incurred if I have to goto bank 3.
example......is the 0.x% of the extra interest worth the time, petrol cost and the hazzle of going to bank 3?.
