Additional notes

For those who experiencing problem when try to use the Proton Navigation System, the Navigation can't detect microSD card, you may try this solution, so far it works. Do not skip any step.
-assume that you in the car the moment you troubleshoot the problem.

1. Turn off your engine.
2. Remove the microSD card from connectivity slot.
3. Let your car HU properly powered down. I mean the DVD slot light must be turned off (you may leave your car or do what ever you want to do, I guess it takes 30 sec). Maybe arm your car... let it in armed mode for a while.
4. Disarm your car.
5. Insert microSD card (the small one) in the microSD card slot
6. Turn on the engine.
7. On your HU.
8. Open Navigation
9. The navigation should work now.

lucky for the suprima, scooby test driving was on federal highway that's rather packed with traffic, didn't get to whack some bends

I changed my tyre to Michelin pilot sport 3 yesterday and managed to trade in the stock Achilles 2233 Tyre ( from Indonesia) . Going to test faster speed later but managed to feel the improvement in terms of noise/vibration and steering is way better than before when driving home last night.

The next thing i am getting a dash camera for my front, was thinking to install a back camera as well but looks like it will be hard to hide the cables and install. Also was thinking whether hardwired to the battery for 24/7 recording or just cigarette slot that only records during car start. Need some advice on the dash camera whether front is enough or back and power the cameras by the battery cable or just normal cigarette slot enough

Then i will be going to foam/soundproof my car, i heard there is a shop called Autofoam@KL Auto

How much do you get for Michelin PS3/pcs and trade in price/pcs?

Lucky you didnt get the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directional 5 like me. I loved the performance but I really hate the noise it produce when driving on old or concrete road. Surprisingly noisy

Just got my Atlantic Blue Suprima from Vincent818.
No regrets buying my car from him as he is honest & knowledgeable of the product he is selling.

The car is great but some minor hiccups like brake noise(helicopter sound) & can't open the rear boot using remote.
Planning to solve them during my first service. Any members can recommend me a reliable service center at cheras, Taman Len Sen area.

Btw, interested to know about the trade-in price for the archilles tyres. Planning to get the Michelin PS3

was going to get goodyear or Continental . Knew the Michelin staff for quite some time now around 10 years. However his prices are higher than other michelin workshops. I bought PS3 at 500$ each with a high speed adjustment

The minor noises are normally fix during 1000km service, i thought it was a problem but did not hear it after the service.

For the rear boot, some proton staff said it will take two times to open using remote/switch, while some said once. Some experienced owners DIY the hook adjustment themselves. Depend on the service area, maybe they will adjust to one time open/close or two time open/close

Trade in the tyre better, at first i thought of not changing it since it is still new but the grip is weaker not to mention wet road. The noise/vibration is even not worth mentioning

I was able to feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the difference easily after change to PS3

The price difference is like 2 - 2.5 times however worth the $

Good thing you went with PS3 in the end. Im looking forward to change my next tires but might take some times cos even though already drove 34k km, there's still a lot of tread on it. Planning to go either Yokohama db decimal or ps3.

As for the remote boot in my case, i usually need to press twice to open it. not cool

Hello all! Hope ss owner here can help me on this..

I'm currently own Saga FLX, 1 & half year old.. Within this period of time, i've faced 1 break drum issue, 2 times radiator issue (fan relay problem.. Wth is that?😅😅) .. So can say i fed up with my saga personally and proton generally.. I've test drive SS last time, damn nice and damn powerful, super different feeling compare to when i drive saga..

Senang kata, sudah jatuh cinta.. But after what happen to my saga, i really really disappointed with my saga and proton.. So now i looking for replacement, so shortlisted Vios and City..

But just a few days ago, my friend bought a SS, and 'poison' me to buy SS too.. Immediately i shortlisted SS together with other 2..

So i hope i can get some advise.. I know if we compare with those EBD, rear camera, parking sensor and those feature, SS win.. How about the car quality?

Hope SS owner can help me to decide..

Quality wise there are some common minor issues such as
- front disc brake judder can easily replaced under warranty.
- opening boot need to activate few times. Not much can be done until new solution from proton.
- sound proofing not that good can hear cvt noise but acceptable.
- tyre noise acceptable but if got extra fund change it.
- HU can be better.

Compared to vios or city, I chose SS besides the features(DRL, hill assist, paddle shift, auto cruise, push start/stop, disc brake rear wheels, ventilated disc brake front wheels, 7" HU, reverse camera, gps) there are 6 air bags(safety), power, ride & handling(lotus), leather seats, 17" wheels,.....

FC of course not as good but trade off with vroom, vroom, power....turbo mah!

Those feature really make me jatuh cinta with SS.. After poison by friend, and my aunty show her interest to take over my saga, i think would have no reason to reject SS..
But still the car quality make me think again eventhough i really want it..

My family just got a new City E spec. Trust me when I say, paying more doesn't guarantee better quality.



Buying a SS may come with a few minor issues, but at least less butthurt because you paid less for it. Go read the Vios thread and see the new owners complaining about their car as well, eg. engine mounting sound, lower arm sound, suspension sound, atap zink sound etc. etc. etc....

Basically, every car has it's own problems, even a Toyota or Honda is not immune to it. It just boils down to your luck.

Anyone facing minor steering vibration at 120km/h? lower or slightly higher speed seems ok. Done wheel alignment.

Maybe should do high speed balancing. Any recommended shop around pj?

Saw some unhappy customer comment for that shop.

Honda city are well known for their gaps in between things. My friend was going to collect car last week but found out that the gap between the driver dashboard is pretty big, can see wires inside. Another one located near the power windows, can put card inside. At first friend thought it is a card holder and i laughed. Currently waiting for the irresponsible SA ( went to holiday ) .

Malaysia should give a law like if the car have problems within a month or so. Can refund 90-100%. Otherwise it is a pain in the S, just buy driving a problematic car since the start.

Any SS driver have " kak " sound during uneven roads or this is normal ? Only able to hear it when drive through uneven roads ( slow 40km/h will not occur )

As I had shared, first 3 service labour charge FOC.
If first service less than 1k, wheel alignment FOC.
You'll still be charged for parts eg. EO, oil filter, drain plug, etc.
They'll minus the total charges with the 3 yrs free service voucher for example mine is RM95.
The vouchers are 3 x RM95 and 5 x RM165(valid 36 months from date of registration).
If you read the T&C, if service charge less than voucher value then the balance burn. If service charge more than
voucher value then you had to pay the extra. Cannot use multiple vouchers at one time(correct me if I'm wrong).
You can help to ask if we had to follow sequence using the vouchers meaning had to use RM95 then RM165 or we can randomly use the voucher based on value that benefit us most.
They can see our vouchers record in their system. I still bring the hardcopy just in case.

How much the rate for labour? per hour charged it is? Next week i will send my car for service. Will ask if can use the voucher randomly or must follow the sequence.

aiseh.. my dealer said the voucher value is already ngam2 to cover the service and parts that is supposed to change during that service period..

he also said many had complain about this and told me that I must insist the SC change parts only according to the service book. so rm95 is actually sufficient..

zz don't know la whether can or not, my first service is next week.. see how it goes..

Service bill stated labour charge RM0. Maybe you can ask also about the labour rate when the first 3 free labour charge is over.

If can spare extra fund, go for better EO such as semi syn(better protection) or full syn(better FC). Basic parts for RM95 voucher only use mineral EO which only provide basic protection for your engine.

guys, couple of pages ago some one mentioned that service center at jalan genting klang quite good
may i know is it the one that located at lorong chow thye or the one that is located at jalan pahang, near to anti oxidant centre, before persiaran titiwangsa (as per google maps)?

The voucher is enough to cover normal service parts with semi-syn oil for 1k, 10k, 20k....60k. If want to use syn oil, then you need to add money, otherwise the amount matches the Preve maintenance figures that you can find on Proton website. I got the car during the 5k rebate though, my voucher total around 2200, heard the 8k rebate batch much less the value of the voucher.

Hi im newbies here..just got my atlantic blue last friday ..very satiffied with the performance ..
Few minor issue that already mention here, hu hang, burn smell when > 120km/h..
Want to complaint during 1st service rattling at driver window..another things, it is normal wind sound at back seat when achieve 100km/h? My wife said even our previous car (viva) does'nt have this sound..

How much estimation for full syn? Heard that once you go full syn, can't go back. it is true?

well, its depend on your luck. got 2 kolik send their preve there. One is satisfied, another one is not very satisfied

1. Satisfied
The problem is brake disk helicopter sound after 1 year and half. send around 9am. finish around 1pm. another minor service also take short time since pre book.

2. Unsatisfied
The problem : When lock the car, the wing mirror touch the window when it fold. Take almost 1 month to order the new stock. but after follow up, the stock already used on other customer. my friend rage. take another 1 month to get a new stock.

So, i decide to just sent my car next week, since its nearest to my office. Hopefully all gone well

because when using google maps there's 2 at the same direction, 1 is lorong chow thye and another one is near to the anti oxidant centre

err. the old town itself is close. not the Service Center.

There should not be any problem switching EO between mineral, semi syn and full syn. They drain the EO before filling up right. Try ask the SC to confirm.

Here is the price from www.mymesra.com.my. The price might be different depending on the SC.
Fully Synthetic
Synthium 5000 4L(0W-30/40) RM233
Synthium 3000 4L(5W-40) RM209
Synthium 1000 4L(15W-50) RM180

Got to check with the SC first cause not all of them keep stock for full syn EO.

If no stock, got to check whether they allow u to bring your own.

If you have spare fund, go for full syn 3000 (5W-40) by adding little bit more cash.

Doing my first service in Ipoh since selangor/kl mostly fully booked.. Now fixing boot problem, driver seat airbag problem and brake judder..weird that the mechanic measured the disc and he said it's not warped at all.. Gonna do a test drive again to reconfirm..

Btw they use syntium 800 5w-30 for my SS

Hmm, then take the guy for test drive and show what it sounds like when braking at high speed. 1K serviuce Syntium800 is fine, just be sure to service again at 5k. You can switch to every 10k once the engine has broken in a little. That's what I'm following for my darling

Mine share what's the driver seat airbag problem and how they solve it.

My brake judder initially can feel it at low speed but slowly reduce and can only feel it at higher speed. Fortunately they changed it for both front wheel brake disc.

Just got rid of annoying SQUEAKY sound at external door handle by spraying a little bit of white lithium grease. CRC White Lithium Grease cost about RM40. Spray also at the retractable side mirror to lubricate it.

You can use it also for your door hinges, grill roller to remove the annoying squeaky sound and lubricate them.

No problem so far except bad radio reception although I am in PJ area (in good reception area).

Well, bad radio reception has been discussed before if i remember correctly. And if my memory serve me right, this is common problem for Proton car.

Congrats on your new ride. Seriously open boot with remote no problem . Can open boot with single press on the remote when the car is unlock.

Are you tuned to the recommended frequency by the respective stations. Try off the AF(Alternate Frequency) function. Mine works fine without the AF function. Off course if you are in enclosed area the reception will be poor such as underground parking, tunnels and surrounded by many tall buildings eg. apartments/condos.
