Hi, recently upgraded fr 5Mb to 10Mb.. promotion package the guy offered it at RM179/mth ..Took it, good deal. came with nothing else but a 24 mth contract he he.. good for you TMNet.. I hv been trying to get TIME service though (and not UNIFI) but my apt building missed TIME available connection point by 50m.. darn.. next building got it.

Well my question is..my best downloading speed under the old 5Mb line was 500~600Kb/s. Mathematically, i should get at least 1Mb/s with 10Mb line.. NOT TRUE. It is only 750Kb/s. Is this normal? I intend to ask the TMCare support on this but just wondering if this is expected. Any input is appreciated.

When did you receive the call for the upgrade package? By right it should be around 1.1-1.2Mb/s if you are on the 10Mbps package. What's the Speedtest result?

I just upgraded mine and my download speed on Speedtest is always around 11-12Mbps and my IDM download is 1.2MBps to 1.5MBps. I guess I'm lucky to get more than 10Mbps but if it's 750kBps for you, that's only 6Mbps.

When they upgraded mine on last Monday, at first only my upload speed was upgraded but my download speed remained at 5Mbps. Luckily quick rectification work was done and by Wednesday's morning, my download speed has been upgraded to the speed I mentioned above. I managed to get UniFi to credit back the amount when I was not enjoying the speed, though it will be billed back to me only in next two months but at least something.

You better call to complain if your speed is not satisfactory. What's your speed on Speedtest?

UniFi speed is not based on username unlike Streamyx.
First relocate your UniFi to the new house. Once the relocation is done then you can start registering the new UniFi account for your parent's house.

Trust me, you'd want to do the relocation first. New registration is the 2nd priority.
As lots of places nowadays is running out of ports for UniFi.

I myself had to wait 2 weeks for TM to add new ports in the area that I'm living now ever since I relocated to a new place a few months ago.
Some people waited months & still nothing.

Guys, can someone please shed some light here..

I'm using VIP5 for 2 years. No issues. But lately when it's night time (10pm onwards) the internet is super slow... It's like on dial up speed.
Opening webpages is slow.. even whatsapp loading images is slow..

I am in total control over the network at my place, so no it's not been hacked (can't see any other unknown connection from router status) and not WIFI issues (even plugged a LAN directly). Tested on different computers and phones as well all the same.

Come morning speed is back to normal...

Can someone suggest anything other than contacting TMnut..

Sometimes even though it may seem like everything is normal, something might be leeching without trace. Best scenario is to maybe limit connection to one wired device by switching off wireless access or set the mac filter on the router for only your device and test the connection with this configuration. If it still persists or if you have tried this already, try a hard reset but make sure you know your unifi username/password and how to reconfigure the modem.

If this doesn't help, it's most likely that you've been throttled some way or another, and i have no experience dealing with this as it's likely beyond a customer's control at this point.

If you are sure that there's nothing wrong on your side, then only TM can fix your problem..

Have you tried using a VPN?

I think there was one time where webpages fail to load 4 out of 5 times but with VPN its fine...
(using free VPN so of course cant get max unifi 5Mbps, cant ask for anything more)

Thanks, will try this. Not sure if throttled - my kids does watch a lot of youtube these days (being school holidays) and I think per day can reach up to several GBs. I also download a lot of steam games (around 8GB per day) as it's on year end / winter sale.

I'm not sure if anything is wrong on my side.. that is the problem. If I have another router I'd change and test just to make sure it's not a router problem.. but because issue only happens at night.. that's what's confusing me.

I just realized I set google DNS on router 8.8.8.8. Our night time is their daytime.. maybe try change this to unifi dns back and see how it goes. But do you guys think DNS is related?

It sounds like either it is some sort of throttling by TM at a certain time or it's just congestion in your area during peak hours.

I also suspect is some kind of throttling...

do try using a VPN and see if that helps...
(why not if it can at least load the page)

I'm sure most of us are using GoogleDNS too, so if its a DNS issue most of us will be affected

I got the same promo few months back. After the upgrade I got max around 1.2mbps but not all the time. Usually can get during non peak hours like after 12midnight.

Another thing u may want to check your network to see if there's illegal connection to your wifi.
