how much it cost? do u need to do any extra settings? or just unplug the old and just plug the new one? icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif

I bought the ASUS RT-N12 D1 online with Lazada.

http://www.lazada.com.my/asus-rt-n12-d1-wi...ter-461355.html

It costs me only RM119, with a RM10 discount and free delivery (COD) to my house.

There are no extra settings to be done on the BTU or the new router itself.

Just select 'Unifi - Home' under special ISP requirements during the quick setup, and we are done.

You are right. Basically it is just unplug the old router and plug in the new one. biggrin.gif

If it does not improve the performance, why do we want to change it? doh.gif

if u r in a small area with 1-2 users, usually close to the wifi router, need not change.
a better router improves wifi coverage distance, strength and possibly stability.
works very well for 2 storey houses with multiple wifi device users in various areas incl corners.

from websites, rt n12d1 is 2x5dbi antenna, much cheaper at rm119 or 129.

rt n12hp which looks exactly the same is 2x9dbi at rm199 or 209 at the stores.

i guess they r of the same family, maybe minor differences with some components inside...?

from your and my experience, both seem to work good.

I think the only difference between the RT-N12 D1 and the RT-N12HP is the additional built-in signal amplifier.

There is an additional option in the HP firmware that you can set the wifi signal power.

Other than that, I think everything else is the same.

Got the upgrade call yesterday and proceeded to upgrade my vip5. I think it's random as I just used unifi for 1 year. New contract but in the future relocation fee is waived so I guess all's good hehe.

What's the difference between getting the UniFI 5 Mbps @ RM149 and the Maxis Fibre 10Mbps @ RM 148? I heard UniFi is more stable and Maxis has connection drops often?

If I get Unifi 5Mbps, what's the usual speed I'll get? Close to 5Mbps? I'm in the Selayang area (near Batu Caves).

Oh and is there any ongoing promotion for UniFi right now? Rebates or waiver of fees from roadshows or something like that that I need to take note?

Router should be the same.. HP version antenna is twice the size.. Antenna can get outside for ~39 each.

You will running different route la... Jalan lain.. Maxis is known for managing your traffic.. Such as limiting speed for torrent, using private IP (bad for torrent) and bad ping time. Unifi is current the best for round the clock performance. Also if you problem take more time to solve because sometime the need technician from Unifi also.

Unifi Mostly can get full speed. Sometime at night got some problem, but still around 3-4Mbps achievable.

The only + for maxis is cheaper price. If you dont torrent, dont gaming it's should be ok. Normal download should not affected. Maybe someone else can comment about speed.

Guy, I just bought a Asus N12E today. Plugged in cable from modem to LAN1, LAN2 to PC, HyppTV to LAN4.

Problem is I can't get through the Quick Setup.
When I click quick setup it asks me for Annex A/B. I tried both but still failed.
Internet status now: Disconnected

Anyone can help? thanks smile.gif

You should plug in the LAN cable from the modem to the WAN port (blue colour, with a globe sign) of the router, not the LAN1 port.

Because that is cheaper than the one you bought, don't think they will refund you the balance... usually shops won't do that. If you are living in two storey... more reason to get the RT-N12HP.
