I'm thinking of upgrading to Unifi, TM called me and asked me if I wanted to upgarde to Unifi. I said yes but now I'm searching online and apparently if you register online the first month's subscription is free? So there is no advantage of signing up through the phone right?
And is the slow YouTube problem temporary or has it always been like that?

What's the difference between getting the UniFI 5 Mbps @ RM149 and the Maxis Fibre 10Mbps @ RM 148? I heard UniFi is more stable and Maxis has connection drops often?
If I get Unifi 5Mbps, what's the usual speed I'll get? Close to 5Mbps? I'm in the Selayang area (near Batu Caves).
Oh and is there any ongoing promotion for UniFi right now? Rebates or waiver of fees from roadshows or something like that that I need to take note?

QUOTE(aneip @ Aug 30 2014, 01:24 PM) You will running different route la... Jalan lain.. Maxis is known for managing your traffic.. Such as limiting speed for torrent, using private IP (bad for torrent) and bad ping time. Unifi is current the best for round the clock performance. Also if you problem take more time to solve because sometime the need technician from Unifi also. Unifi Mostly can get full speed. Sometime at night got some problem, but still around 3-4Mbps achievable. The only + for maxis is cheaper price. If you dont torrent, dont gaming it's should be ok. Normal download should not affected. Maybe someone else can comment about speed. Thanks for the info! Anyone knows which is better for downloads from file sharing sites like Uploaded or Oboom? And Youtube?

Is there any UniFi promotion on now? Thinking of applying for it, just wondering where's the best place to apply. Would I be getting the best deal if I apply online through their website?

Guys, is it worth it taking the VIP10 over VIP5? Additional RM 50 monthly, but the fee for mega or sports pack worth RM50 per month is free right? Is the 10mbps speed close to as advertised?

Yeah they have a promotion on now I think where the sports/mega pack is free for VIP10 and above. Think I'll go for that. Now should I get the mega or sports pack. Probably sports since it has BPL.

Just installed unifi VIP10 today. Speedtest site shows 10mbps so its all good on that front. However I got some issues:
1. Certain images from certain sites take a long time to load. Two places I know this happens are the Google play app (when you go into an app and the screenshots take a long time to load) and according to my bro, Instagram as well.
2. Quite often notifications on my smartphone don't show. For example I had load the Whatsapp app before I saw that there had been multiple messages. This never happened to me when I was on the old Streamyx 1mbps.
3. Downloads from uploaded.net are no where near 10mbps. They vary from 200kB to 500kB per second. Although this may be UL's problem and not unifi.
Are the issues above common? Any solutions?

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 14 2014, 12:34 AM) unifi had been acting weird last two days, unstable. it's acting up again while I m typing here, internittenly lagging on the keyboard. think some of the peculiarities u just faced are abnormal, do not happen normally. as for those downloads, VIP 10 gets u max 1mbps only, unifi speed cap alto no gb cap. Vip5 max 0.5mbps. if the seeds or links r weak, u get a fraction of that. I don't think it's the UniFi connection per se that's the problem though. I mean, loading facebook on my desktop is fine. But on the facebook app on my phone, my feed takes ages to load, and images never appear. Phone notification don't appear too, even though when I load Chrome on my phone to surf everything is fine. Which leads me to believe there is something wrong with the router provided by TM.

Does anyone know what kind of download speeds you're getting from premium Uploaded.net account? Mine varies a bit, but generally on a single download I never seem to be able to go near the 10Mbps speed my VIP10 package provides. I have to download simultaneously to get speeds close to 800KBps.

Anyone getting terribly slow speeds when downloading through filesharing sites like Uploaded? Sometimes when this happens I restart the modem and router the speeds are back to normal. So I'm wondering if this is due to the undersea cable or just TM trying to throttle.

I have a premium uploaded account, and if I have 3 or 4 simultaneous downloads I can hit 10Mbps. If I download a single file then it varies... sometimes 200KBps to 10Mbps, average probably about 500KBps. I don't know if this is due to Unifi or UL's servers being slow.
But sometimes even if I have 4 downloads, the total speed I get is like 50KBps... that's when I restart the modem and then the speeds are back to normal.
