I think anyone selling silicone wiper can provide it, as long as you give him/her the correct wiper size.
I got mine (for other model, not forte) from LYN seller. Try look at garage sell.

good article from Live Life Drive Malaysia:

http://www.livelifedrive.com/malaysia/news...-c-segment-crop

but I'm confused with this sentence "The 2013 Kia Cerato doesn’t take over from the Kia Forte in the B-segment.". Isn't it all this while Kia Forte IS in the C-segment instead of B-segment? hmm ... ?!?

Sifus, require advice on typical areas to soundproof

i) Door
ii) Boot
iii) Dashboard
iv) Undercarriage (read it somewhere but kinda lost track of it)

Read that changing the stock tyres improves it quite a bit too.

Am I missing anything? After everyone who I tumpang complain about it, time to really consider.

Hello Guys and Girls

Anyone had experience replacing forte battery with SC? Replace outside or with SC cheaper? I think replace outside will not void warranty. Got quoted RM220 from outside.

Thanks.

I tried other brand before. Weight not equal. That's way cheaper. Heavy is better...

I rang up the SC and they told me the new battery replacement is slightly bigger and the orginal black cover will not fit. I'm not sure if we can get the original size as the original battery is from korea. At least the SC here is not selling the original battery. 55WD2L fit the base with no issue.

Not worth... normal wshop dunno what to chg, u need to tell them. Just follow what need to be changed in ur service booklet and buy the parts at spare part shop.
For complex item need to be changed, need to go to SC.
Not sure normal wshop has a tools to do it.
Dunno any reputable shop in penang.

My budget for soundproofing is sub 1k for roof, boot, bottom carriage, doors but still can't find so try this first.

A Forte owner (and also our fellow club member) has passed away in an accident at Jambatan Kerteh. His car went into the river.

don't waste your time and effort.. Got the P rubber and D rubber installed in my Proton Savvy previously.. Not effect except for a solid 'thub' sound when you close your doors. Straight aim for proper sound proofing instead.

This morning i cant start my car, the brake tighter than usual. I check on the previous forum, they said it related with the brake sensor/switch problem. Anyone have ever experienced this and replace the sensor with new one? How much the cost?

It works well to reduce bumpiness....you will feel less bumpy when u go over humps.

It does not work to improve your ride stability, its more to comfort.

I installed it and its worth it for the price they offer.

QUOTE(izputra @ May 26 2011, 07:14 PM)
Mostly due to brake switch problem (not the start/stop button itself) & some cases are due to loose battery terminal connection. Since that the current Forte got 5 years warranty, i think u should consider it as a piece of mind. The part (brake switch) might take sometime to arrive (if no ready stock) but the car still can be started anyway using an alternative method without pressing the brake.

Already use my car for almost 1 year 2 months now..the smartkey battery still doesnt show any lack of signal transmission as of now
*
Based on what bro Izputra's comment, it should be cover under warranty. You can try talking to the SC. It depends on the SC really. If they are nice they can help you out.

Guys, I have to replace my car remote for my Forte EX, as the pressing button rubber is worn out, any suggestion where to replace?

I have asked for the remote replacement at the service center, it's a whooping RM 500 for replacement a set of key, while RM 800 for SX key.

If im not mistaken u got to go back to SC. No other place. One of FOC member changed recently cost him RM1025.

RM800 is ok if compared to what he paid.

OMG, that's pretty ridiculous considering EX doesn't have any smart key feature, and they did it with quite low quality rubber that got easily worn out. sad.gif

Don't jump to conclusion where something is spoiled...try wash your caliper and ensure wheel sensor is clean. Nowdays alot car component run on sensor. Sometime dirt/dust could cause signal reading error > end up we buta go change.

bro the P rubber and D rubbers are not cheap too leh. i bought the one for all 4 doors, boots and hood.. total around rm22x with some extra only.. if straight away go STP in Kelvin's shop it's approx rm500 for 4 doors only... then the floor approx rm11xx if not mistaken. still i think for Forte it's the top when it rains which is noisy and also the 4 tires area which could really reduce ALOT of noise for our ride. biggrin.gif

hi to all sifus,

want to ask an opinion. I plan to get a second hand car. my choice is either honda city E or kia Forte 6 speed with shifter. But forte is my first choice since i liked it so much not just because of the interior and exterior itself. But also because of its performance.

I choose to buy a second hand car because its within my budget to get my favourite car and also as my 1st car. And one other reason is to used it as a long term car.

Your advise im kindly appreciate.

Thank you

good enough to reduce noise or only better 'thud' sound when closing the doors? are the rubbers making the doors become harder to close? i am interested to buy those rubbers too because they said <RM50 for 4 doors but worry later need to slam the door tongue.gif

Don't waste the money. Door close solid but the nothing on noise improvement. I took it all off because it is not worth to slam my doors.

ok thanks for the advice! it's always a pleasure to learn from experienced users thumbup.gif
looks like the rubbers improve the doors to be closed solid but not really help in reducing noise. i just worry let's say i need to slam the door 8 times per day, in the long time might affect the lock mechanism, power windows motor etc hmm.gif

Well depend your need. Cheapest way to improve closing and slightly improve noise distortion would be using this rubber seal. If you apply correctly, no problem closing door + u can have solid door close sound

Of course professional sound proof is better but alot of work + cost is not effective biggrin.gif

what problem are you having?... are you using 4/4S or 5/5s?

I'm using iPhone4 with iOS 7.0.4, working good so far.

I'm on iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4, plugged USB and AUX, it started to prompt me Trust this Computer? but I couldn't even press Trust button, then ended up USB read error.

Had my first bad experience with my forte.... was driving and felt some kinda of vibration... not that frequent... on and off.. only during acceleration when driving.. was wondering what was it..

waited till the weekend I sent it to the service center.. they checked and found that my drive shaft was loose... I mean WTF?? O_o"

So if you guys are having the same problem better go and fix it fast.. the problem with CKD is the QC here.. sighz....

My suggestion:

1) Get a plastic bag/sheet and stick it on to the Foggies first (to mitigate exposure to rain water, etc.)
2) Post a WTB post here and in FORTE Malaysia FB page, looking to buy the original Foggies.

Reason: I'm guessing that a number of owners have changed their original bumpers to those of NERF, etc. and has the Foggies lying around at home.

Just my 2-cents.

i think its not that simple just install the paddle shifter, the entire steering assy and clock spring need to be change also.

Not to mention wiring to ECU is different.

Am sure most of us have our units with the body kit done as a package. Have finally come to accept that KL road and parking ramps are no place for them, so thinking of removing them completely now smile.gif
Question is, how much roughly does the sifus here think it will cost? Outstation without the car so can't take it to the mechanics except the wife, don't want her to get conned lol

I'm sorry..cant remember the exact name of the shop. But by looking at the GPS, the shop is located at Jalan Sentosa Villa 1/1 (opposite Kajang Hospital if u come from Jalan Padang Tembak). Got rows of shop there..if i'm not mistaken, the shop is an end lot shop somewhere in the middle of the row

doing 60k service yesterday at redcube plentong, JB.

send the car around 2pm. and done service around 6pm as per told earlier by recep will done around that time.
so i just wait there for 4hrs...go cafe upstair...main playground...pusing2....go see see cars...
really nice place the have.
smile.gif

since the service bay is out of reach..so i cant see much what they were doing... sad.gif

1 - cross rotate tyre + alignment + balancing (saw them doing this)
2 - chk some sound at bonnet (saw them crawling inside...lol)
3 - replace chamber nut for front left due "makan tyre".. (i think done during alignment)
4 - 60k service...involving changing v-belt. car park too far at the back. cant see what they doing... unsure.gif
5 - ask them to chk harsh sound from engine. (after change oil, not heard so much sound)
6 - ask them to chk brake pad and battery condition. checked; all still good.

btw they did gave back to me all the old v-belt...
here are the break down.

it depends on u , i u think stock ones are bright enough , just replace one side.. get urself philips or any brand H7 shud cost u around 40 ..

if WURTH ( sold before to few forte cause they keep on complaining burn ) rm 85 per pc..

both of this are standard colour bulb.. philips with extra 30 % brightness

if u wan something extra bright, get a pair like pIAA hyper plus or any other brand u are happy with nod.gif

doing 60k service yesterday at redcube plentong, JB.

send the car around 2pm. and done service around 6pm as per told earlier by recep will done around that time.
so i just wait there for 4hrs...go cafe upstair...main playground...pusing2....go see see cars...
really nice place the have.
smile.gif

since the service bay is out of reach..so i cant see much what they were doing...

Hi Kusanagi, while you're at it, could you help to check on the bank valuation of a FORTE 1.6 SX - DEC 2012 car?

Please help to check the insurance coverage needed for the car if the insurance were to start from:
Dec 2013 = ???
Jan 2014 = ???

Thank you smile.gif

Hi guys,

I'm about to go for my 30k services. I called Selayang SC and they quote me RM530. Is this about right?

What if some of the stuff is still in good condition because I rarely drive my car and I don't want to change it. Will it void my warranty? My car still has low mileage, 14 months old but still less than 24k on the meter.

Thanks

Externally no huge different other than the LED side mirror, redesign front grille & fog light

Internally, of course the 6-speed transmission, reverse camera, bluetooth head unit (some with DVD/GPS) & some cosmetic touch-up.

These extra features in the 6-speeder however came with extra 4k in initial price & of course a higher maintenance price due to the 6-speed gearbox which requires the fully synthetic ATF. 4-speed ATF is around RM90, but 6-speed ATF is just below RM300 if i'm not mistaken. Anyway, u only need to change ATF for every 40k km only..so that extra amount of maintenance price doesn't do much damage to our pocket i believe.

If u are looking for a 4-speeder, try to find a CBU unit like mine & epo. So far (just 3 months short from 4 years of owning), my car got no problem whatsoever. Thank God.

Worth to mention that I've test driven the 6-speeder before & i able to conclude that from a standstill, the 4-speeder Forte is a drag king between these two cars. 2nd gear alone can accelerate up to 120km/h (2.0SX) with ease. However, the 4-speeder can't beat the smooth gear changing of the 6-speeder (close gear ratio due to extra gears)

In term of fuel consumption, i strongly believe the 6-speeder is a winner in highway drive. But in town driving, it might be the other way round because frequent gear changes introduce power losses. However, the losses is not that significant & can be ignored.

Did my 30k svc @ Selayang last time, & yes its around that figure. I guess we can delay the not so important one but can't avoid bcos sooner or later they will requote in another schedule. Btw i've clocked 32k in my 20mths old car.

Since you have answer why still ask ? 16" would be slightly better since will be using higher profile tire 205/55R16....

What do you want to compare ? What i knew is that 2 + 3 is that after first 2 years, your warranty claim will depend on insurance company and each claim (if i am correct) you have to pay certain among upfront....

45. Anything above factory specification will hit the fender. The engineer design this for a reason. If u really want higher profile, need to downgrade to 16"

one shop told me , 205/50/R16 will slightly taller than 215/45/R17 (means the height from ground)
If 205/55R16 will much taller more. rclxub.gif

my concern is,
I need to fetch full load of students and put their bags in the trunk, that will make the car heavier thus if the gap between tyres and car body is closer, high possibility the tyre would touch the car body.

wondering what is maximum profile for 16 inch rim?

anyone knows the Forte EX specs 16" rim/tyre specs?

Bingo! I think it depends.
ws_lim83 whom uses 215/50/R17 may have not encountered any issues because he may not have had a full load in his Forte..and/or he could be driving real careful when approaching speed bumps.

In any case, based on your description of your daily drive routine, I'd recommend u get a 16" rim shod with 205/55/R16. The wheel circumference would be very much similar to 215/50/R17. It'll be approx 5mm smaller only.

Looks ok to me..any issue with your tyre hitting the fender on a full load before? Stock tyres are a real discomfort & noisy..so afraid to go through potholes due to fear of hitting the rims grumble.gif

Hi Bro, I hope that you're not offended by any of our comments/queries here.
Please bear in mind that I'm not here to question the authenticity of your claims on the use of a higher profile tyre, but more of a query that stems from my curiosity smile.gif

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm actually quite keen to emulate your choice of tyres (215/50/R17)...it's just that I'm puzzled that you've not hit your fenders with a full load of 5-passengers.
Were you making the 'S' during the drive over humps?

Many thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.

stock rim is wide enough for this size. Sooner later everyone keep increasing the profile and the width of the tyre = installing MPV tires la biggrin.gif

*
I have just bought a 2011 1.6sx recently for 60k, roughly 30k milleage, just want to share abit here smile.gif

From acceleration/initial pick-up perspective, I will have to agree to izputra where the 4-speed does better than 6-speed.

But after test driving five 4-speed , I found:
1. one with (the infamous) brake switch problem
2. two with excessive trembling (not sure if the dashboard or the engine)
3. other 2 are fine

And tested three 6-speed ones, nothing much to complain.

So considering paying about 10k extra (which translates to about extra RM100 installment per month), I get :
1. 2.5 years left on the 5-years warranty
2. 6-speed gearbox with better FC
3. lower milleage on the vehicle
4. rear-view parking camera (trust me this is a must have!!)
5. the previous owner installed a sick looking sport rim

Hope that through my sharing you are able to make a more informed decision. Looking forward to your new Forte thumbup.gif

I don't think have to worry about tyre harden. Yes, it will be harder than brand new, but not much due to tyre lifespan supposed to be 5 years.

g88 is right, if you drive often and change about 2 - 3 years once, then should go for it smile.gif

a quick question here, i just changed my 4 tyres but the foreman found that all my rim dented quite seriously during balancing.

is it necessary to repair it? the foreman said better change a new set becoz repair 4 rims isn't cheap and wise. what will happen if i dont repair or change it?

if it is better to change a new set then what are the factors should i take into consideration when selecting a new rim?

appreciate your advice

Bro, I'm facing the exactly same issue u having now.
My rims 3 out of 4 bent (bengkok).

Repair for reach rim cost 70-100 depend on how serious it is. The shop offer my top up RM400 trade in my rims and swap with same Forte 17" stock rims (used but condition good).

I was thinking if using same stock rims, the RM400 maybe not worth to spend, because driving style, road condition, stock rim quality....high possibility the same issue repeat again.

My target is downsize to 16" rims, but need to change tyres will cost a lot...

Hi Sifu,

I have some questions, hope you guys can help me.

1. The driver's door always shock me, it's something like electric shock. Do you face this before?

2. Since the USB reader only support FAT32 format, as always when I insert some songs, partially it will be corrupted and system will move them all to become .FILE files after I use Windows chkdsk. Anyone has this issue before? sad.gif

Hi Bro,
for 2) If are you using a thumb drive, mind to check it first. There is a common case of imitation one from China. "Fake Flash" refers to low capacity flash drives (and memory cards) that have been "hacked" so that they appear to have much more capacity than is physically present on the drive.

These drives operate normally under low usage, but will corrupt data once their "true" capacity is exceeded – potentially leading to massive data loss.

I can be sure that is not on this issue. It's the way that Windows detected the series of cluster is not in sequence and hence all the files will be re-arranged and put into a system folder named FOUND.000.

Anyhow I may ask this question at wrong place anyway, it's about fat32 volume issue. The file is unreadable before I insert into the car to play the songs.

Thanks for you intention to help, appreciate it smile.gif

My suggestion:

Get your car to a reputable Auto Alignment Garage (example: Ah Kit Alignment @ Sunway PJS11 aka Jalan Horsepower).
Request for their service to asses your vehicle tyre alignment and camber (the shop should use a camber tool/gun for this) along with the heel & toe of the wheel.

Get their opinion on what to do next, if there really is a problem of misaligned wheels.

But if you said that you've done the alignment and balancing and whatever else somewhere and it has been determined that your Forte's wheel is indeed out of its' original position, you may skip going to the Alignment Garage. Unless u want a second opinion lah smile.gif

I suspect that your Forte's absorber mount/anchor point may have been compromised OR the lower arm may have been bent out of shape OR both.

EDIT/ADDITION: The alternative low-tech/low-cost solution to determine the extent of the damage (if any) would be for you to get your hands on a measuring tape, and to measure the gap between your wheel-car before comparing them.

i had obvious damage on the inner camber with scratches on the camber metal. i suspect the sides of the lubang hit the camber metal thus pushes the camber to behind abit. thats why my left side wheel seems nearer to the fender. i compare using my eyes of the left wheel and right wheel also know it is different position d. take picture later give you see the damage scratches

Dont be surprised. My Forte 2011 has 30k mileage since its a weekend car ... the trick is the more newer recent year cars usually are not treated with the mileage modification yet. Plus you can always request for the service booklet and crosscheck with service centers.

Right. Well, you don't have to show me the pics coz I'm quite familiar with such damages.
I've a friend whom used to own a Camry which suffered a similar fate.
The damage was repaired by the replacement of the lower arm, link rod, and realignment of the absorber/suspension well (minor 'ketuking').
Am not sure if your car is suffering damages to the same extent, but my friend's car was pulling to the left which means that the damage was quite bad.
All in all, he spent about RM900 (if my memory serves me right) in repairs.

Depends on car condition lar bro smile.gif
If the owner jaga kereta and didn't get involved in any accident/knocks, RM57K sounds pretty reasonable for a 3-year (I assume) old car.

Do remember to check the Service Booklet to ensure that the appropriate service schedule has been adhered to.

is there a way to remap the gear ratio??
i barely noticed the 3rd gear, and some how kinda hate the 6th gear starting around 70kmh....

5th gear should stay all the way to 120kmh....because at that speed, rpm still not exceed 3000.

is there a way to remap the gear ratio??
i barely noticed the 3rd gear, and some how kinda hate the 6th gear starting around 70kmh....

5th gear should stay all the way to 120kmh....because at that speed, rpm still not exceed 3000.
*
possible. Get an expert that know top down of the gearbox ratio...open the gearbox up (void the warranty) and change the gear ratio.... brows.gif

hmm.gif ..correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Paddle Shift system there for such scenarios?

this morning i was revving the engine around 5k rpm at the 4th gear for a while and it was only 120kmh. i think better use paddle shift rather than sacrificing the warranty sweat.gif

If speed is your thing, I'd suggest you forget both Lancer/Inspira and Forte...
Heck, with current traffic conditions within the Klang Valley..you might as well forget about getting a car for speed. Get a YZF-R1 instead brows.gif

I found Korean car or Forte then to have high torque compare to japanese car. CVT might be 'fast/smooth' in gear changing but i think vs engine power pickup conventional gearbox still better biggrin.gif....

Just my 2 cents.

*
mine although have damage scratches and mispositioned wheel location, but seems no effect to my driving experience. No pulling to left/right. just the wheel location not matching. i might do wheel balancing and alignment again soon. 8k mileage now, 10k mileage service i'll ask the foreman whats the problem and solution. hopefully can solve without changing parts.

just done my 30k service.

i ask about the airfilter which cost RM90 which is in the package and they told me its just the aircond cabin filter.

well i told them to skip that. easily can get RM30 air filter from outside.

Im wondering is it true that the air filter at 30k is the aircond cabin filter which is under the glovebox?

No no thats the one placed at your cold air intake, at engine bay.

This air-cond filter filters air that comes into the car cabin. You notice there will be 2 knobs in your glovebox, on each side. Thats the thg to open the glove box to gain access to the cabin filter.

charcoal type filter has the same filtration capability as a normal filter. The added advantage of charcoal filter is its smell absorbent capability, leaving the cabin air free from musky smell.

I'm going to change tire this week due to long distance drive back Penang. Any pros/cons on Nexen N8000?

Anyway seller advice me to use 205/50/17 instead of 215/50/17. Any comment if tire thinner?

215/205 is the tyre width. Our stock tyre height is 45. Now you are making the tyre thicker with smaller width. Take note.

hmm how to say it, 205 is slimmer like example our waist?

Seller mention profile 50 will be heavier so putting 205 instead of 215 will put off the weight.

Hi All, anyone of you experienced "clik clok clik clok" sound from dashboard. The sound looks like came from dashboard near the middle circle thingy (not sure what it call, looks like alarm sensor) and under just the front windscreen.
The sound on and off, sumtime will hear it & sumtime not. Recently, the sound become louder and can hear it frequently. My forte model is 4 speed 1.6SX as well.
Anyone have this issue before? please share ur experience ...thanks.. smile.gif

That is the aircond temperature flap sound. Whenever u on the aircond or change temperature of the aircond the flap will open/close more depend u want cooler or warmer. Remember Forte aircond build in with heater which occupied50% of ur aircond coil.

Most of the time i'm using the same petrol kiosk. UNLESS i'm outstation.
But i tried SHELL.. SHELL doesn't give me a very good rating most of the time. Very bad rating of SHELL.
Caltex is the best. most power and more mileage. Maybe will try to change the spark plugs tomorrow and see how it goes... biggrin.gif

Have a look here.

http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...lain_Terms.aspx
The letters next to API, such as SM, refer to the quality level of passenger vehicle motor oil. The current highest available standard is SN. CF is a diesel engine or commercial vehicle standard and the highest current one is CJ-4.

No isu to use SL... SN is the latest and provide better protection...
Normally I'm alternate between liquimoly and magnetec... Use both since 15k km till today...
Liquimoly also SL/CF

Hey Guys, I've just discovered this:

When I place my car into Reverse gear and hold the car stationary by pressing on the brakes, a whirring sound can be heard coming from the engine bay (bottom right side, to be exact).

Anybody experienced this before?
I'm wondering if it should be a cause for concern icon_question.gif

Unfortunately, no.
From what I gather (reading through the Forum here), it appears that the only way to obtain a Smart Key replacement is through KIA.
It is because of the uniquely coded transponder/reader of each key which makes it difficult to duplicate (but I'm sure not impossible) and expensive to replace.
After all, it is a Smart Key.

I think it's normal. Mine have the sane signs as yours. Try to switch your gear from N to D or N to R on a quiet day and you should be hearing the same sound.

Hey guys, anyone has experience in replacing their windscreens? How much does it cost? Any recommendations on the cheapest & most reliable workshop?

No insurance coverage. Mistake on not taking that option during purchase last time.

You can try going to Glass Mechanic (PJ) Click Here first to assess damage.

They can repair minor cracks / chip for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

Benefit of repair is that the original factory windscreen & sealing are maintained, plus no need to replace tint film.

PS: Am not a salesman nor associated in any way with this vendor.

i am not on kia forte but kia cerato, just hope you guys can help.

I noticed when i use my SpeedNavi GPS, my radio volume will automatically go lower and then comes back to normal, then low again and back to normal.

Anyone knows how to change the settings so that it will not interfere with my Radio's volume?

Hi guys, sorry if I'm off topic or at wrong section.

I'm having low budget as I'm saving to buy a house, so I thought of buying a used forte 2.0, 2011 model. I'm aware that it stopped production, so spare parts maybe costly, but I really like the car which is in my budget compared to japs.

1) would you guys recommend it?
2) does it show its age already?(eg, less smooth engine/vibration or rattling etc)
3) Any valuable experiences you would to share about your car after 3 years?
4) Is it still a worthy buy at about 60k+

Sincerely appreciate your feedback. First time buying car, hehe

I've tried recording a video on this, but the 'whirring' sound cannot be heard clearly during the replay.

Anyways, the sound (sounds a lot like a muted helicopter whirring sound) will come everytime when I carry out the below:

1) Start Car.
2) Press on Brake (car remain ststionary/not moving).
3) Engage into 'R'/Reverse gear.
4) Maintain foot on Brake pedal, keeping the car stationary.
5) Pasang telinga/Keep my ears peeled, helicopter sound appears icon_question.gif

You guys give it a try and let me know if the same thing happens to your cars. Thank you.

Tell you what. When your car is cold (after overnight), go push 'in/out' your muffler....you will hear 'mouse running' alike sound at the under carriage - nearby gearbox area...when during a cold start you wouldn't hear it..it only 'appear' after engine/exhaust warmed up....

Thats the exhaust's cone sound....go to any SC get them to replace it if your car still under warranty....

Driving for the past 1.5 years . Still at stock tyres. Tyres still look very good ,ie having "deep thread" ,although going to clock 30K KM now.
So far no problem on the car , only the noise from tyres. Engine noise not so noticeable.
Any good advice low noise tyres and lasting at least 2 years tyres ??? As I travel about 100km per day. TQ.

i think due to tyre become harder..
and most tyre will be nosier after 8k++...

BUT...any tyre will give less noise than stock one. rolleyes.gif

yesterday, went to naza auto solutions in PJ, to update my multimedia infotainment system (free). previous my shell version was 2.82.x, now is 2.89.5 already.

noticed that radio receptions is slightly better than before... and also i have requested them to unlock the video playing features because previously mine always displayed "ENJOY MUSIC WHILE DRIVING" tongue.gif

other than that, i am able to off the display only (standby) while others such radio still playing. previously, if i did that, the entire audio unit was off doh.gif

Dear all, Just need your comments on the premium quoted by my insurance agent for renewal.

Car: Forte 1.6 SX (2012)

Year 2012 - Sum Insured is 82000 and the premium was 2371 (b4 NCB).
Year 2013 - Sum Insured is 74000 and the premium was 2176.5 (b4 NCB).
Year 2014 - Sum to be Insured is 67000 and the premium quoted was 2439 (b4 NCB).

Claim - made a claim at end of last year after a minor accident. Hit & Run when the car was parked at a shopping mall.

The figure doesn't sound very logical for me. Car value depreciated, from 74K to 67K but then there is an increase in the premium.

Thanks for your valuable opinions.

i got mine on january 2013 (registered as 2013 unit) but i know it is not a 2013's because my audio set didn't come with red LED (latest version) and no fog lamp + DRL. i asked my sa why my audio unit didn't have that because i told him that should be the latest version etc and i always read forte's thread here but he replied he don't know that lol i know he's lying at the moment but i really need a car at the time so... sad.gif

google search for car insurance calculator and do your own calculation..only way it can increase that i can think of is due to windscreen coverage (extra RM 270 if not mistaken)

Hi Bro,

May I ask how did they actually update your HU unit?
Did they plug a laptop directly onto the HU or did they use a USB drive and copy-paste the file(s)?

Also, did u manage to update your Navigation Software (i.e. SpeedNavi)?

Many thanks in advance for your answers smile.gif

hi all, since you have driven and tested forte all these years, can you share your valuable experience on the updated price of spare parts & maintenance costs?

for authorised sc:
1) Brake pad cost(all 4)
2) absorber
3) other parts

non-authorized sc:
1) Brake pad cost(all 4)
2) absorber
3) other parts

comparatively, is it more expensive than T & H for the same parts?

This is the commercial+residential area, not much landmark near by. You will find a Star Car Accessories shop at the corner (visible from the main road).

You also can find this from Google map:
3.022343, 101.677196
