hi guys, test driven a 3 yrs used forte 2.0 today. when idle at gear 1, the steering got vibration.
if put on neutral gear, less vibration, but still can feel.

is this normal?
*
I'm driving a 3.5 years old Forte 2.0

At traffic light, D+brake and N+handbrake also no vibration.

hi guys, i'm looking for used car, and i found a forte 1.6, 2011 model for 48.8K (mileage 52,000KM).
wonder if this is a good deal?
before I proceed to view and test drive, anything i need to aware for a used forte?

this is the first time I buy car, your comment and feedback is highly appreciated biggrin.gif

Just bring an experienced friend to test drive the car with you.

Get some history of the car and the maintenance log or service booklet.

48.8k? SX or EX? Mileage is pretty for a 3-year car.

Nothing major  tongue.gif 51k mileage service. My car is almost 4 yrs old and under utilized. I want to maintain it condition and do not want to simply send to a irresponsible mechanic. Imagine I got quoted with using OEM Proton Waja parts (a/c filter, mineral oil filter, front & back absorber, front & back brake pads) I have no confidence at all...  sad.gif  Thats why I'm asking if I can get a mechanic who can settle everything using ori KIA parts and not too far from my work place (kota damansara) or home (setia alam) If final verdict is to go and get parts listed at 1st page then look for mechanics then I have to.  wink.gif
*
Did you still send it to KIA service centre for the last service?

If yes, just continue the habit.

They said the side mirror signal lights - the thin stripe version is for the new batch of Forte with 6 speeds.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yeap you are correct. thats the fastest way to identify~
Btw , does it have a big different between 4 & 6 speed ? exclude the FC, the outlook of it. Whats the actual experience on it while driving ?
*
That's like very subjective.

One of my friend told me that 4-speed will have better FC at town because your engine doesn't have to switch gear too frequent. While at highway, 6-speed will be superior.

Just my 2 cents.

The disadvantage of the older batch of Forte (4-speed):

1. No auto window down switch at driver side
2. No electrically foldable side mirrors
3. No reverse camera
4. No Bluetooth, GPS, touch screen LCD (not that important).

Apart from that, I'm quite satisfied with it.

I owned the 6 speed . The aircond is not too cold.My friend also complain the same issue.  Air cond distribution for Back seat passengers not very good.
Tyres noisy and also low quality sound insulation materials used. Warm driver leg area (can feel engine heat)  & Hot rear boot (due to exhaust below)
Apart from that, no issue so far.

Perhaps you have drive a decent car previously.

I drove a Myvi previously and if you compare that with Forte, you will know why I have such reasoning. laugh.gif

Just a foolish question here:

Regarding the front bumper skirting made with asbestos or some kind of plastic, do you guys feel that it's a little low?

Welcome welcome. Its never be TOO late to know that bodykit will make the car look very low...in fact w/o bodykit also its consider low due to 45 low profile tire.

With Myvi, I have no problem on gliding down a ramp. The ramp isn't that steep. But with Forte, I have trouble. sweat.gif

Guys, for those who have the earlier batch of Forte (around 2010), how does SDVC work? I have enabled it but seems like I can't hear the difference. What is the threshold of the car speed for it to be activated?

Performed my 80k service and it cost me around RM 750.

On top of that, it looks like my steering intermediate shaft is damaging. When turning, there's "tak-tak" sound emits out and it's getting more annoying lately. SC checked it and they said the steering shaft is damaged and requires a replacement that could cost me RM 700+

Should I do it at SC or outside since I don't think my car is under warranty anymore?
