Wah spartan life. But question is how long can you keep it up? Is it worth it? When you reach 40 you will realise that you just threw all your youth away for a couple thousand bucks...youth you will never ever get back....

Strongly agree... we will never ever get back our youth...

Yes something is very wrong. Those imbeciles singaporean employers don't know what they are doing. They are idiots coz they don't recognise talent like yours and are downright rude with no reply in 2 months. In fact they should reply no more than 24 hours to just hand you the job no question asked........singapore has some pretty stupid employers...sheesh... rolleyes.gif

1. Look at your own resume, review/verify/update it against general guidelines of resumes from the Internet
2. Go through more job portals and ads (even old stuff like newspapers), and consider coming down to SG to go to the headhunters/agents to do face-to-face meet ups
3. Keep trying and keep waiting, sometimes you just gotta wait a bit and see.

years of experience: 3yrs plus..
qualification: certified accountant
field & experience: Internal auditor fr Big 4 accounting/auditing firm

is the salary offered ok?..the company does not give CPF... cry.gif cry.gif

hi.. i assume you have a degree, in that case is abit low..

u can bargain with the company about ur CPF which some company reimburse in a way into the basic company.. but it really depends..

and in the end, is how bad you wanted to go work at Singapore, you can take this as a stepping stones, then jump to other job after 1 / 2 years, apply PR and jump again..

you got to make the decision, no one can decide for you.. biggrin.gif

Have been living that lifestyle for few years now. Don't feel comfortable having good life served by waitress in restaurants. HDB hawkers more down to earth and warming wub.gif . Youtube, TVB drama. CC opposite house, hit badminton, gym with 3 dollar. Then weekend cycle to library enjoy aircon and books. Ok ma.

Actually what is the recommended life? 9-5 and then what people do at night ah? Go out and spend money?

saw on easyroomate. not sure about the details. 1k to rent surely out of my budget because i dont even pay that much for rent, is silly.

I know a few relatives that want to rent out at the same price as well for the whole unit.

1k for whole unit? hmm.gif impossibru.jpg

in your own post you already said own room is '500-700,' if whole unit assuming 2 bedrooms mana mungkin only 1k?

Just for reference, I'm currently renting my 3room flat for 2.2k.

4k is on high side for employer. Unless you perform very well during interview or impressed the interviewer, but the risk is they will not short list you when saw you asking for 4k. You may try with 3.5k because assuming fresh grad is 2.5k and 2 years later with 1k increment is very high (about 20% every year).
The ratio is 1:0.85. If you find RM 2.8k in Malaysia is reasonable then SGD 2.4k is also reasonable.

Thanks for the reply and that is also my concern if putting too high.
If can get around 3.5k , I am satisfied already =)
By the way, how do u think about the IT in Singapore? Lots of competition? And are there lots of India and china people with better experience but asking for lower pay ruining the market??

Thanks.

When you apply for EP, do you submit a certified true copy of your education certificates or is it not required (to get it certified as true copy)? Thanks.

There are demands for java developer in Singapore. Even though there are lots of Indian (from India) and Chinese (from China) are competing but Malaysian is still preferred by Singapore. You just need time to look for correct employer. Malaysian is easier to get work permit (EP, S-Pass, etc) compare to other neighbour country. Anyway, don't worry about that. Just prepare your resume nicely, search for suitable company and be prepared for interview.
