Greats! So actually there is no "extra burden" for my employer right? (apart from paying my salary)
*
I dont know the exact economics on all of the extra cost that the employer incurs hiring a s pass or wp compared to an EP holder in relation to the amount they gotta pay an EP but it sounds around what u mention.

If your paid the minimum of 3.5K on an EP, there are some people i know on S Pass who easily make more than that. Mainly engineering background as supervisors.

Why only johor?

Since my hometown is in malacca, it should be no issue since as you have mentioned that only johor jpj does this.

Why would they want to cancel my driving license if all i request was information on a piece of paper.

the question is, why do you need an extract of ur driving info... u tell them for insurance purpose la... dont go and say u wanna convert

those are tradesman with supervisory roles, at least 5-15 years exp... and their pay is usually for compensation for working in harsh environment eg shipyard, construction site, high rise, factory... etc etc

This might be old news but I think there are still some of us that do not know about it. Register your number for DNC to prevent tele-marketing.

On top of that, anyone have contact or know where I can rent car (with driver) to go from Aljunied to Gelang Patah (2 days before CNY)? What is the price range?

Uhm, don't know why are you so paranoid. People have been answering, employers need not pay levy for EP holders. If the "extra burden" that you are referring to is the levy, then yes, you are right.

As what sinner mentioned, you need to share more on your qualifications/experiences first - if you are a fresh grad, SGD3k is a decent/good deal. If you are experienced and already earning around RM4k+ in Malaysia, then I would rather look out a bit more first. FYI I just jumped job and I am still being mobbed with a lot of job offers... I think the market is quite good for IT BA/consultants so far.

*Surviving in SG on SGD3k is definitely do-able if that is what you wondering though. I started off at SGD3500 and I still managed to saved quite a bit during the time (stayed in HDB, one room to myself and I did not have to starve myself at all).
*
I am thinking of finding a job in Singpore and since you are in IT field, so do you think a java J2Ee programme asking for SGD4k is too high?? With around 2 years working experience.

Thanks.

Hi guys, was wondering how much would a cheap studio apartment (whole unit) cost in rent per month? Considering going to SG after a few years work experience, and tbh don't see myself living well with housemates.

4k is on high side for employer. Unless you perform very well during interview or impressed the interviewer, but the risk is they will not short list you when saw you asking for 4k. You may try with 3.5k because assuming fresh grad is 2.5k and 2 years later with 1k increment is very high (about 20% every year).

The ratio is 1:0.85. If you find RM 2.8k in Malaysia is reasonable then SGD 2.4k is also reasonable.
