Six months I guess since you need to give six months pay slips.

Hi guys,

I just started working in Sg and I would love to share some informations that couldn't be found in the first post (or maybe it's buried somewhere in this thread) especially for those newcomers so that you guys know what to prepare/expect before you come to Sg -

Duration of getting EP (card):
From EP application form submission from HR to MOM approval - 1 business day*
From the medical checkup to receiving notification from MOM to get your fingerprint at their office and submission of other required documents - 9 business days*
From scanning your fingerprint and submission of the required documents to getting your EP card - 3 business days*

*the duration might be different for different individuals. Just treat the info as a reference.

The importance of getting your card is that you need it for applications such as bank account, postpaid contract...

Bank account opening:
For DBS/POSB, you will need the EP card and SGD1k to open a saving account. Without the EP card, SGD5k is required for account opening. I am not sure about other banks but I guess they should share almost the same terms and conditions. You will need to check with them if you want to open an account with other banks.

I hope you find the informations useful and have a rough estimation on how long you can get your EP card and how much money you will need to prepare when you come over to work.

How long was your lease when you got your place?
What is the meaning of lease? Means you must pay 6 months rent? What if 3rd month you leave?

When renting a room in SG...normally this is how it goes...1 year contract..1+1 month rental. 1 month advance room rental + 1 month deposit. Normally will have an agreement of min duration of stay eg. 3 months. This means that if you do decide to stop renting within the first 3 months, you will lose your deposit too. Then termination notice is 1 month. Again you will lose your deposit if you dont give a min 1 month advance notice. Then finally when it comes to the final month's room rental most of the owner will take it from the deposit otherwise he or she will have to return you the FULL deposit amount provided you don't destroy/break anything in the room.

around early Feb in Malaysia a lot of places were actually breezy at night

daytime was hot as shit but at night it got better - quite rare

i was told SG was like that too until mid Fed which was when i went
*
Right! Come to think of it, the weather was indeed unforgivingly hot during mid Feb. However, no matter how hot or cold SG comes to, breeze is a normal occurrence in where I live. laugh.gif

main will still be the "sponsor"
spouse detail may affect i suppose
reentry permit expiry date will follow the sponsor
sponsor PR revoke...everyone follow suits.

PS: if husband is spouse...husband is liable for NS

Thanks. Trying to apply for my wife, she not working in SG so can't apply on her on. Out of date with the PR application already.

if your company have a relationship with the bank, then no $$$ required to open acct.. this usually means the company have mandatory direct transfer of your salary into the acct

Last time is queue early early outside ICA, when the gate open chiong like got gold pick then get numbers from machine and stand at one corner and wait few hours. sweat.gif I still see shorter queue now everyday I pass through ICA in the morning.

Just went to the e-appointment website, full until September, and after that the date are not open. How to know they will open the date? The available booking date only 6 months and open a new day at 12.00 am? hmm.gif

I live in PJ and I use air cond only at night when I'm awake - cos we have ceiling fans

But then I went to SG for a couple days, felt so much hotter. Or maybe it's around the same and in SG ppl walk more.
*
Of course Singapore is hotter than PJ because nearer to the garisan khatulistiwa.

Ahhh... didn't know that. Probably I'll just pop into the bank and ask them on this the next time I pass by.

But Singapore plants more trees along the road/walkway compared to PJ. The natural shade helps to cool it off a little laugh.gif

Lets say company A applied S-pass for me, but I yet sign any offer letter, and body checking up. (I agree to accept the job offer by them, verbally / literary)

Then I interviewed with company B, company B offered higher paid / benefits.

If I reject A now, and take B offer.

Will this bring big impacts to me (reputation, hard to find next job, etc) ?...

politely call up company A and reject the offer citing personal reason then go to B.  no contract sign = no deal so no worries.

regarding this, can anyone confirm for me? i scare after i reject company A, when come to S-Pass application from company B, i will get in trouble, since my friend told me that the application is base on some sort of scoring system.. cry.gif

Just reject and take the risk on company B. You are facing this dilemma because you wanted company B more than company A. No one can confirm with you because if like i confirm with you that you will not get your pass from company B approved, but you got approved then you will say i am cheater, vise versa as well.

Take your risk get big return ??

Hi guys, I want to ask you lucky Singapore based people something, since I am going to be a fresh grad soon.

Are there a lot of graduate programs for students (specific rounds each year) or is it mainly just direct hire whenever?

Thanks
