Hi guys,

I just started working in Sg and I would love to share some informations that couldn't be found in the first post (or maybe it's buried somewhere in this thread) especially for those newcomers so that you guys know what to prepare/expect before you come to Sg -

Duration of getting EP (card):
From EP application form submission from HR to MOM approval - 1 business day*
From the medical checkup to receiving notification from MOM to get your fingerprint at their office and submission of other required documents - 9 business days*
From scanning your fingerprint and submission of the required documents to getting your EP card - 3 business days*

*the duration might be different for different individuals. Just treat the info as a reference.

The importance of getting your card is that you need it for applications such as bank account, postpaid contract...

Bank account opening:
For DBS/POSB, you will need the EP card and SGD1k to open a saving account. Without the EP card, SGD5k is required for account opening. I am not sure about other banks but I guess they should share almost the same terms and conditions. You will need to check with them if you want to open an account with other banks.

I hope you find the informations useful and have a rough estimation on how long you can get your EP card and how much money you will need to prepare when you come over to work.

if your company have a relationship with the bank, then no $$$ required to open acct.. this usually means the company have mandatory direct transfer of your salary into the acct

Ahhh... didn't know that. Probably I'll just pop into the bank and ask them on this the next time I pass by.

Of course Singapore is hotter than PJ because nearer to the garisan khatulistiwa.

But Singapore plants more trees along the road/walkway compared to PJ. The natural shade helps to cool it off a little laugh.gif
