Hi all, I need to get advise here...I'm going to Hong Kong next month to visit my relative, all alone...so, pls advise me on the following icon_question.gif :

1. I want to apply passport. The nearest place for me is Damansara, near HELP college. Where exactly is the location? My friend told me to take Putra LRT, then feeder bus and stop at Menara Millennium. Then how? I heard over there got a machine to insert all your documents and money, which means u dont have to queue up for number. Issit true?

2. My flight to HK is 7.30am, which means I need to be at airport by 5.00am. Once I reach the airport, what's the procedures? How do I check in? After check in, then go where?

Hope all the frequent travellers can help me....thanks! rclxms.gif

I think you better do your passport fast if you plan to travel next month. I believe it takes a minimum 2 weeks for the Immigration Department to get the passport ready from the date of application.

Depending on where you live, there is an Immigration Department at Kompleks Wilayah and at the old Subang Airport. The one at Pusta Bandar Damansara is normally packed with people. My best advice is to be there early i.e. before 7 a.m. to get queque for a number.

As for international flight, you need to check-in at least 2 hours from the flight departure. After you check in just go to the departure gate that is stated on your ticket and waiting for boarding.

Hope this helps smile.gif

I think machine autorenewal is only for renewing passport, if you are applying for the first time, then you need to go to counter. I heard the old Subang airport (?terminal 2) is the least crowded, Wilayah kompleks should still be functioning for passport application, provided you go early, not on school hoiliday, should be fast. Passport will be ready in 3 days, RM300 for 32 pages.
you can download the form here
http://www.imi.gov.my/eng/Forms/im_forms.asp
othewise first thing is got o the form counter to buy the form and get to the queque, which can be loooong..
need 2 passsport size photo (make sure is the correct size), original and photocopied IC, and pay money on the same day.

HK might have lots of passenger, which mean you better go early, check from the display which counter are you suppose to check in (MAS has a common counter, which mean any flight on MAS can be checked in there).

Then go to the international departure gate, you need to go down the escalator and reach immigration check point, malaysian passport is simple, just go to one of the autogate and insert ur passport as instructed, then u are done. After that take the aerotrain (just follow people) and you will be brought to the gate, look for ur gate, usually u have time to hang around, nowadys there is an internet booth (still around?) that u can surf for free. Fast food there is burger king, rest are all cafes, bring something to eat then u can save money.

sign boards are everywhere so you wont miss ur way

that is it, hope it help..

no need

for bit of additional cost
you can get photo and IC photostated on the spot (in Kompleks Wilayah)

BTW
those people from Sabah and Sarawak need to bring birth cert along iif yopu apply in Peninsular Malaysia
and it wil probably takes like 6-8 weeks vmad.gif

There is one at Pelabuhan Klang which is normally quite empty.

Also it just takes 1 day to get a passport ready nowadays.

Had the old version of passport RM 150, can be used to travel to S'pore. It can't be used anymore due to change of law and have to change to the International version RM 300.

What type of application is this? New application? What documents are needed? Photocopy of IC and passport size photo only?

Which place to make passport is nearer to SS 15, Subang Jaya? Any public transport to get there? Thanks.

New international passport RM300 cannot renew.Valid 5 years
There is one imigresen at Dang Wangi nearby police station.
New Passport take 1 day to get it.Normally you will get next day.
But for a weird reason old passport holder will get after next 2 day.
If you have special letter you will get on the spot.Like medical and etc.
Last time I go 10am no queue like last time(maybe my luck).Just take half hour and then finish.Just pay RM10 to get passport photo at nearby shop. And 1 photostat IC and fill up the form.Buy the form RM1 if not mistaken.
Total cost RM311+RM10 to drink and petrol at pposite mamak stall hehe..GOOD LUCK

New application and renewal are the same nowadays. You fill up the same form and submit the same things.. photocopy i/c and 2 passport size photo.

Not sure if there is any bus going there.. cos practically no one goes that way nowadays. Best is just take a taxi.

It is not renewable.. you get a new passport the next day. Not renewed on the spot. It's more of a deposit machine rather than a renewing machine.

Not true. You can do it outside and they will accept it. All photo shops will know how to take a correct passport size photo. You can even diy if you can. Besides the instant photo taken on the spot has horrible quality but they still accept it tongue.gif

1) RM300 for 32 pages (IIRC, it is for 5 years. Correct me if I'm wrong)
2) 3 working days
3) How old are you? above 12 years old, parent's IC is not required. Just need your birth certificate and your IC.
4) Refer to no. 1
5) Refer to the IC's address. Ask them for more info.

Why do you need to apply the passport for?

If it is for overseas study, you'll get a 50% rebate if show them your offer letter as a proof

To go to Menara Millenium, stop at Bangsar LRT station. Take one of those feeder busses that go around that area (Pusat Bandar Damansara). Settled. smile.gif

I just did my passport yesterday at Subang Terminal 2. Very fast I would say, but it required you to come back on the next day *personally* to collect your ready passport.

So make sure you arrange your schedule wisely.

1. not sure, never been there.. if possible, better go the early.. just in case..
2. less than an hour provided that there are not many people and more counters are opened.. heard said can collect in 24 hours or 3 days.. last time i did was 3 months..
3. once the numbers are given out.. they will.. they have a certain so-called quota of the day..

hope these helps.. laugh.gif

Most if not all centers can renew passports in 24 hours.
But if you're asking about the queue, then your best bet would be Putrajaya.

travel agents can apply but they still need you to go to the embassy for interview. Go there must have a valid reason, like studying (u need a letter from the uni) or travelling (u need relevant prove) something like that

Dude, that's not crap... Being a Sabahan is like a Malaysian but with different nationality. The same goes to those Sarawakians. That's because of the population control policy implemented by Sabah & Sarawak state government.

If you said that's crap, let me tell you what the real crap is....

People from Peninsula going to Sabah & Sarawak need immigration control. People from there coming to Peninsula no control at all. I need a work permit when I'm working in Sabah & Sarawak. And the stupid work permit occupy one whole page in my passport. I've been asked by many immigrations officer in other countries, why do I need a work permit to work in malaysia when I'm a MALAYSIAN!!! And I have to tell them about the stupid policy.

I get 3 months social visit visa when I go to east Malaysia. I get SIX months social visit visa when I go to UK!!!

I need to apply for a US Visa and have completed most of the process including an appointmet on next week and paid US100 to RHB.
The only things that I am not sure is about the Issuance Fee. I have no idea what is the Issuance Fee is all about and how should it be done, also can I take my photograph at other location instead of only at the recommended US Visa photograph shop which is at Ampang Park?

TAKE NOTE, THE USD100 IS NOT AN ISSUANCE FEE. IT IS AN APPLICATION FEE FOR US VISA. SO, THE AMOUNT IS NOT REFUNDABLE EVEN IF YOUR VISA APPLICATION IS UNSUCCESSFUL.

why do they have such policy? your guess is as good as mine but I am pretty certain that their desire to stop frivolous application and unwanted people from making countless application for VISA has a lot to do with it.

but generally, if you are young; in your teen or 20 something, you really should have enough supporting documents in your application. it is important to present to the embassy a valid reason for your trip, including academic study, business trip or company assignments, or if it is a for holiday purpose, sufficient documentary evidence to show you are capable of surviving in America and have a decent, well-paid job or solid properties in Malaysia that you will not abandon. it helps if you are working in a major local companies or multinationals and you have a letter from your employer testifying that you are working for them in a sufficiently important position.

The time taken to apply a passport is much shorter now.
It took me one week to apply few months ago at Damansara Height

Besides, if your passport has a 'chip' inside, you don't have to queue up long. There is a machine downstairs which you can do it there.

And, the application for passport form is FREE. I went there to get it last time and the Reception wanted to charge me RM2.

Issuance Fee is defineitely not the USD100 fee, its called Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee and my question was "What is an Issuance fee and how much?"
Anyone here who have the experienced in applying a US Visa and what to expect during the interview?

We can use either passport or IC when travelling to Sabah / Sarawak... if we using IC, then need to fill up a form before entering the imigresen check point over there.

it's quite easy from federal, From UM, make a turn towards the direction of shah alam, go straight for another 10 km, passing by hilton/armada, sunway bridge (double decker bridge) and the next junction on your left will be the one to subang airport (look at the sign board with subang + plane). go up the flyover, crossing the federal highway beneath u and into subang airport road., from there just go straight for another 10 km or so... u will reach there. smile.gif

Alright, here is for Sabahan make passport at KL.
The officer told me that the fastest is 1 month- 3 month can complete.
They also look my birth cert. Photocopy 1. The others remain same.

My cousin also said like that. They said they need to take documents from Sabah back to KL. But I will give it a try. Sigh.. I am planning to go HK next month but I guess impossible to make it on time.

hi , i tried to search this whole page . But recently , i applied my Australian Travel Visa thru MSL Travel SDN BHD. And i have received my flight tickets . However for the Visa, all i get was a Slip Paper with information of The Aus. Visa . Now this is my first time applying for Aus.Visa but from my past 1 time experience ,wouldnt they will stick the visa on the passport ? So if this is normal , how do pass the check point? Anyone with experience care to enlighten me please....will be leaving this thursday and hope everything is according to plan .

True, no need password, just show your IC that will do, but Sabah, KK does require passport sometimes, so bring the passport along always when you away from penisular tongue.gif save more trouble!

this is a cost savings travel security for Oz. as selected country only are allowed on E-visa which means by u pre apply d visa n the E-visa is not a visible visa...not like those US or schengen visa sticker. As your name had already appear in the system of the authority of OZ...they just swipe your passport(machine readable zone)at the machine...all is there.get it ?

good bout E-visa...cost savings n
prevent counter feit visa

bad bout e-visa...authority of the departing port to OZ will have a hard time...as anybody from the selected country can say...hey I hav a e-visa....u will have to counter check it in the system...if for 1 pax its ok....lets say 100 pax in the flight ?

si beh charm....

You mean to collect passport at imigration? Of course you have to, no to collect passpord you dont have to go there earlier, just come in and get the number, you will soon be informed to collect, no longer than 30 mins, this is the simple procedure. Cheers smile.gif

Hi all, I did my passport in Subang. Here is a review of it.

I've arrived at 8.45am and queue up until 11.30 only to get the numbers, luckily manage to get the 330th number for Passport Application/Renewal counter. Thus, I'll get my turn on that afternoon itself. Get to submit my form around 3.15pm and to pay for the passport at 3.45pm. Here some of the pics.

There are 13 counters.

Counter 1 = To get the queue number for passport application/renewal
Counter 2,3,4,5,6,7, and 9 = Submission of passport application/renewal
Counter 8 & 11 = To pay for the application
Counter 10,12, and 13 = Passport collection (Queue number can be taken at counter 13)

*Please correct me if I'm wrong, cause I was not to sure about the order of the counters.

Oh, if u plan to collect it also pls be early too. U have to bring the slip and pass it to Counter 13. Have to wait till ur number called. I was there around 8am also already 75 people number in front of me sweat.gif

i just came back from chinese embassy to make my visa. Here's some tips

1. The Embassy only opens from 9.45am -11.45am only. (i've been there like 3pm once and it was closed, only to found out they have such leisure at closing early)

2. But if it's closed you can still take the forms

3. Fill up the forms, you need 1 passport size photo and your passport

4. single entry RM30, double entry RM50 (pay only when u collect)

5. You need to hand in the passport.

It takes 4 working days to process it. I'll be going back there on thurs. laugh.gif

extended my passport yesterday. arrived at 9:30 am at Pusat Bandar Damansara. took 2 minutes with the KiPPas system. Collection today was a b**** though , took roughly 45 minutes waiting in line.

Lesson learnt : don't go too early to to passport. sucks to be caught up in a loooong queue when there's nobody at 9:30am

of course , might be just the festive season and there's no one around nowadays.

I need to ask about the medical examination and chest x-ray for applying for Australian student visa. I have lodged an application about a week ago, but to date, no case officer has contacted me via email.

But I once read on their website that the medical examination and x-ray can only be done after a case officer officially ask me to do so. Can I go for a medical examination and chest x-ray now? Because I'm afraid time is running out as I need to leave on 14/2/07. Got my electronic Confirmation of Enrolment late no thanks to stupid University. Group of Eight quality, huh?

I have read up whatever relevant to my application but it seems that there's no way I can contact the Australian Immigration department via email on this matter. They keep giving stupid Australian High Commission in KL, which doesn't even give a damn.

So any advice from sifus out there? Thanks.

Are you applied by yourself or through education agency like IDP education Australia? Although you applied by yourself, you may contact idp any branches nearby and ask them for advice. They might be able to help you to answer your question.

I applied for it myself over the internet as the Australian High Commission in KL no longer handles student visa. Another example of stupid Australian administration....I went to their embassy and read forms saying Malaysian students are eligible for online application....not compulsory....then I went up to the woman counter only to be told they no longer do it!!!!!!! doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif
Australian, first world? Kiss my ass
But heck, if I could go to other country to complete my degree, I would be pleased. So right now, I'm stuck with Oz crapshit.

@Chen Bee Hansern,
I'll give it a try. I have already arranged medical check up without waiting for the stupid Oz case officer...... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

@pangping1510,

I thought it was simple too, but their website is confusing since they didn't clarify whether the official request to do medical examination is by email or through the application status page.

Anyway, already done my medical examination and thanks for your reply.

Adviseable to have 6 mths before expiry of the passport.

But just to share my experienced.

On my first business trip to UK.

I had 3 mths before my passport expired and only notice it by check in time at klia.

The officer let me check in but inform me about the problem that i might not allowed to enter UK. Since too late to cancelled everything i accept what the officer inform me and pray for my luck.

Luckily, upon arrival at heathrow the only question the immigration officer asked me is the purpose of visit, i said business and she welcome me to UK. sweat.gif

yes, you can do it within one day..

you've 2 option :
1) Manual
- get number and wait for number to be called (they will process your application)
- wait for your number again for the payment (it's random)
- wait for another 2 hours to get a new number for passport collection
- wait for your number, and finally you can begin to fly with your new passport.

2) Kippas (Passport must be chip-enabled)
- goto the machine (Ground Floor and 1st Floor)
- follow the instructions on the machine
- it will dispensed a receipt for your passport collection time
- go to the collection counter to get a number
- wait for your passport..then you are done..

just make sure, you bring all the necessary.
- Current Passport
- Mykad
- Photostate copy of Mykad
- Money

Arrived at 7.03am today at Damansara to make a new passport (my old one expired years ago), I was number 22 there.
Collected Passport at 10.40 am on the same day.

New record?

rclxms.gif Immegration has improved a lot since the last time.!! thumbup.gif

Tips:
1. Download form from the internet, print in 1 page (double sided). Don't worry if most other people's form is green in colour and have barcode. The counter people will stick a barcode sticker in yours.
2. Don't have breakfast yet, since you can have 2 hours breakfast after you have paid RM300. Can bring lappy as well since Starbuck is nearby.
3. Bring your Birth Cert, incase your IC got problem (but may not be necessary).

Going to China this 16 for the first time. Need to apply for a Visa, but is it enough time even though they said 4 to 5 days? Scared that the emphassy will give me hard time since i do not have the flight comfirmation with me, because i am joining the travelling agency in Singapore and documents are not ready yet. And can i summit the visa application form in behalf of my wife since its hard for her to apply for halfday leave to go all the way there?

Another question, i am taking LRT to Jalan Ampang and which station is the nearest to the Chinese emphassy? The Ampang Part Station or the next one? Thank you...

yes you need... but no worries you can take your photo directly at the immigration smile.gif

if it's just for renewal, the wangsa maju branch is highly recommended... my colleague went there last week and it took her less than 1 hour to finish the whole procedure smile.gif

very easy....

basically there is three method of entering Japan (i've used two of them)

1. Visiting relatives/friends
u need letter from your friend, Alien registration card (IC Japan), Passport, Address of your friend. Through this method, u can get 3 month visa, without any confirmed hotel itinerary, but confirmed flight ticket is a must
2. Holiday
- confirmed hotel stay
- confirmed flight
- account statement to ensure you don't go begging for money in Japan
3. Business trips
- business trips lah.

further info, go the Japan Embassy at Stonor street (near Jalan Tun Razak) or go to their website, use Google smile.gif

visa application will take 2-3 days, and would have no problem for u to pick it up after that period if no one from embassy call u.

there is a discount for students, but you must prove that you are going overseas for furthering studies, therefore you'll need a letter from your universities stating that you are a student there, taking what degree etc etc. Personally, i didn't really bother to care about the discount as getting the letters from the college would take weeks, and by the time i waited for it, might as well just pay and get it done.

Renew passport in a day only available at selected branches, not applicable to all branches. About Pusat Bandar Damansara, i have quite lost faith in them as their systems are usually down on Mondays, and the day i went there to do my passport, the whole immigration system was down, and as usual they were promising expediate repairs and that passport processing will resume soon. what a blatant lie, because later they had to shoot themselves in the leg when they announced that the whole system there was down.

Another alternative would be the Subang immigration office. If you'd get there early before 8 (e.g.730) u'd be in about a line of 10 ppl there, and if you want faster, prepare all the documents beforehand (e.g. passport photo, forms etc). most of the people who go there early, somehow is lacking either in picture or incomplete form, and so, your queue is being reduced from less than 10 ppl.

very easy....refer to my previous post.

if u're going for an indefinite period (less than 3 months) use the method 1 - visiting friends.

if u have confirmed flight and hotel itinerary, then use method 2 - holiday

RM300 and just bring your passport and Mykad, four passport size photos (latest). and ask for passport renewal form. that's about it.

Ah, you can bring the whole kampung with you if you want.

If you go to Immigration at Damansara Town Centre and use the KIPPAS machines located on the Ground Floor,
all u need is the following:

1. One passport size photo;
2. Old passport (machine readable)
3. Mykad
4. RM300

Machine is very user friendly and steps are shown clearly. And also there's someone around to provide guidance if needed.

Basically, the machine will prompt u to insert the passport to be read, followed by yr Mykad, and then scan yr thumbprints. You will need to place yr passport photo in an envelope provided, and deposit it into the machine. Then the last step is to feed money into the machine...RM300 for 32 pages or RM600 for 64 pages. A receipt will be printed out with the time of the application, with instructions to go to Counter 16 upstairs after 2 hours. When u go to Counter 16, you will be given a number and a short wait to collect yr passport.

The operating hours of the machines is from 8:30am - 3:45pm Mondays to Fridays.

Did mine last Friday....application time on receipt was 8:16am, collected new passport before 10:30am!! thumbup.gif

Very impressed with the new efficiency of the Immigration Dept after all those previous experiences having to start queueing early in the morning, filling forms, photostating Mykad, forced to take photo again cos the officer think you look different from yr photos....are all things of the past with this new system.

My passport has 2 years left but i will be going to oversea to study for 3 years (not sure i can I renew overseas).
Can I renew now or apply for new brand one ?
*
you can renew it from malaysia embassy in other country.

but the best is renew your passport here, get another new copy of 5 years, so that you wil be given a full period length of study leave to remain / visa from the immigration officer.

else they will only give u til the expiry of ur passport, and u have to leave that country by that time, and come back, go through all over again for your 3rd year.

guys.. i dunno if this is the right place to post this question.. but its the closest i can find

i've been in australia for 2 years from 2004.. til end of 2005.. and i was stupid enough not to apply for a PR which i truly regret now.. yes.. its abit too late.. but i wanna apply for the PR now.. can anyone advise me wat to do?

should i just take a month or 2 holiday in aussie and apply onshore? or just apply it offshore? i know i can get faster results onshore compared to offshore which will take ages due to the amount of time wasting on mailing stuff here and there..

anyone who has done this b4.. please advise. thanks

I'm planning to go apply for passport tomolo.
1) My passport already expired in 2001. Do i need to bring my old passport?
2) I haven't take photo yet. If I take in the imigresen Dept tomolo. How much is it? Is it more expensive than to take outside?
3) I will go to Damansara branch. Confirmed can get on that day itself? If cannot, can I go later (about a week later) to collect when I'm on leave?

i have a friend from kuching who is studying in kl at the moment. but in order for her to apply for a passport, she has to wait for 1 to 3 months as she is not local. the immigration dept had already sent a letter back to kuching, and we are now awaiting for their reply whether to approve or not. is there any other way to speed up the process? this was 1 month ago... thanks smile.gif

hmm.gif Guys! I need your help!

My dad just recently renew his passport and he travelled to UK a months ago. Last week when he moved out of his house to my place, he couldn't find his passport. He went back to his old house, still couldn't find it. Thank god i still keeping his old expired passport with me.

The main thing is, my dad told me that if you lost or misplaced your passport and couldn't find it. Even that you report to police, the immigration will "rampas" your previous old passport, and wouldn't let you travel abroad in 10YEARS!!? is this true??

if it's true what's the point of reporting to police and immigration department? it will be a high risk and may not be able to travel abroad in his age (about 50)

anyone can tell me or lost/misplaced their passport b4? can you tell me the procedure to re-apply a new replacement passport?

Hi,

Wanna ask, how long it is nowadays for getting a new passport (previously I don't have any international passport)? 3 days or within the same days?

Another thing is, previously, I do have my own singapore-malaysia passport but that was more than 10 years ago.
Question is, do I still need to bring my old singapore-malaysia passport for me to get the new international passport?
Is not that I lazy to bring it, but the old passport, is at my hometown (far away). Because, generally from what I understand, the old singapore-malaysia passport is not really an international* type of passport.
So, am I consider as a guy who is 'getting a new passport' or 'renewing passport'? rclxub.gif
Thanks.

guys to correct somthing here...

there are Temp ppt or some country call it emergency ppt...
-which is issue either by embassy in foreign country for it's citizens who lost their ppt
-issued by the Immigration to the holder who had lost his original ppt (coz lost ppt need time to process)
*I m not so sure bout Malaysia's immi rules n regulation bout this

but I think the temp ppt which david means is shared ppt...
there is and per person if not mistaken is rm150 or somthing...

Australia travel visa...u can apply them online...or simply ask any tour agency to apply for u .... coz malaysia is listed under the ETA qualified country for entering Oz...

cheers

Google has the exact answer. I've been to the one in Kajang, Seremban and I think Putrajaya. First two will definitely take at least half a day but you get your renewed passport the same day.

Bro i think you need to submit new application...waiting period is 3working days and if you can renew you only have to wait 24hours.
As for procedure, normally you need to have IC and couple photos..and if you are born in Sarawak and Sabah, you can get your passport here but have to wait more that a month (stupid department) as they need to contact Swk and Sabah branch...

Pj nearest will be Pusat Bandar Damansara, KL part i'm not sure maa... and most importantly Putrajaya did process any passport application there...

Just my opinion, hope it helps. u need to report lost of your international (i assume) passport. And bring it to together with u and apply a new one.

as for the singapore passport, it can't be renewed after it expires. No more restricted Singapore passport anymore.

let me know if i'm wrong.

Guys,

Im gonna visit AU for about 2 weeks for holiday purpose.
Do I need a Visa? If yes, where can I apply, as what I've heard the travel agents wont do the visa's for u if you didnt buy the ticket from them (im taking jetstar)

And according to this site, we dont need a Visa?

Dear all,

I've checked through all the posts here and found contradictory replies.. tongue.gif
Some say can apply for new passport (not renew) and get it in one day and some say need to wait for three working days... so which one is correct? I heard from friends, only certain offices allow the approval of new passport in one day.. not too sure
Another question, do the offices open on Sat?
Thanks in advance

Today made passport at Pusat Bandar Damansara
6.40am: Q up at the entrance
7.10am: Doors open and everyone rushed up to the escalator
7.12am: Q up to take nombor giliran
7.40am: The guy came in and start to distribute the number
7.50am: My documents processed
8.00am: Pay money
10am: Take number to take passport
10.15am: Take the passport

everthing settled in the morning. As per dude there, big office like wangsa maju, PKNS (Shah Alam), Subang airport can do passport in two hours.
Putrajaya is only for diplomatic purpose; datuk-datuk, tan sri-tan sri, ambassador etc
Saturday no open in all office
First time do passport, original birth cert is a must

Today went to Subang to re-new passport, reached there at 11.45am.To my HORROR , the Kiosk broke down...thats why it was damn crowded inside the office. Took a number ..OMG...(current number + 170= MY NUMBER) sad.gif

While I was still waiting for another 110 people before my turn...the Kiosk started to operate at 2pm...managed to submit my application using it at 2.25pm...and collected my passport at 4.30pm.

Guess its my lucky day after all .. smile.gif

Is it compulsory to use the 'Auto Gate' and do the biometric scanning at LCCT for departure and arrival for Malaysia Passport holder? My friend passport doesn't not have his thumb print scan when he applied for the passport. This is due to his thumb print spoilt for both hand at the time he applying his passport. Just to make sure, is there any auto gate or biometric scanning available at LCCT? According from a friend of mine, he said LCCT never promote biometric scan as everybody have to do the manual way to pass through the counter. Please advice..thanks

Last month went to renew my long time expired passport at wisma sri rampai, i went there 7.30am and suprisingly they are already open.

For renewal passport, no need bother so much about the photo as long as u got the blue background then should be ok, just make sure that it's up to date as my photo was taken 2 yrs ago, and the officer say i look differ so he advice me to take another new photo. there's plenty of photo shop around so u dun hav 2 worry about no photos. the officer was so nice that he say he'll continue process mine once i got the photos.....at least i dun hav 2 take the number and Q up again.

by nearly 8.30am, i already got my new passport........ rclxms.gif cheers to the imigresen for such a good job thumbup.gif

Flora02 : i think u've already got everything...old passport is a must if u have it.... and some say bring ori birth cert.....i did bring but they oso din look at it at all.......and oso juz be there early tongue.gif

saimun : can try sri rampai.........it's a straight road fr wangsa maju carrefour.......

m|ng : so far i know if u're going travelling wif a agency, usually they do the visa for u as well if it's necessary. i only know strict places like japan visa is a must no matter how short period u stay. coz they afraid u plan to stay there forever....... biggrin.gif

tatmeng : i dun think they are open on sat.....if prev ur passport was with the electronic chip, likely few hrs can settle (mine only took less than 1 hr though)..........if new application, i think 2 hrs gua, heard fr my fren la.....

synex : fr wat i heard la......there's still the manual stamping service around......most ppl din use it coz it's wasting ur pages on passport........ sweat.gif

I just went back from renewing my passport at Port Klang office.

8.15 : Arrive there & submit completed form,IC & photos, got numbers & few second later my number is up (Suprising that I dun need to Q at all..hahaha)
8.50 : Payment
10.50 : Submit receipt for passport collection
11.30 : Received my new passport

Perhaps the time taken for my number to be called for collection is a bit too long? But overall, I'm satisfies coz everythings was done around 3hrs only.

kca : I submit my photos which is 4.0cm x 5.0 cm,(which actually taken almost 3 years ago!Guess my face is still the same..yay!)and confirmed with the officer there, no problem at all.

Hi, can anyone answer this for me?

Let's say I go to HK around November, and then I want to stay 1 night in Macau and I want to go to Shenzhen for a day trip (shopping & visit the mini world thing smile.gif )
- Do I need to get a visa??
- If yes, must I apply over here in Malaysia, or it can be applied over there in HK?

And I read that for the China visa, you'll need a lot of requirements (an updated bank statement that shows u have at least 2k in your account, confirmed air ticket and travel itenary plus hotel booking beside 1 photo, > 6months valid passport and application form) But I'm entering Macau & Shenzhen from HK (so no need air ticket, then if I stay in macau, i'll be staying at a backpackers hostel (got receipt to prove booking ar?)

Thanks^^

1) What document should i bring along when i walk on the street in a foreign country? Can give example?

2) Do i need to photocopy a copy of important document and hand it to a trusted person in case any thing happens?

3) I am first time going to foreign country which is Shenzhen, China, what issues should i be alert to ensure a nice trip?

Thank you.

Either carry your passport with you all time indeed (I personally put it in a plastic bag to avoid any issue with Water/rain etc. Your passport is usually the only official document recognized in most of the foreign countries. Driving licence, IC and the like are not recognized as official there so passport is your life line, love it, dun loose it, dun damage it, dun get it stolen.

I do recommend to leave a full copy of your passport at the hotel just in case you end up loosing it anyway. There are little worst thing that could happen to you than loosing your passport while in a foreign countries. A copy would at least give you something to identify yourself at your Embassy and give you a chance

Leaving a copy in Msia has little interest in my opinion since if you manage to come back here without... you can always make a new one. It's when you are overseas you need a passport smile.gif

I have been to Shenzhen recently using Shenzhen airlines and it was overall a nice trip, I do not see anything wrong that should happen to you. Make sure you have your passport, wallet and plane tickets and that you have applied for a Chinese visa of course. Other than that it's a "normal" trip and place, I have even found chinese police and customs to be quite helpful.

LOL I'm 19, and I managed to get it done myself. So yeah, you don't need your parents to go along with you.

Bring your IC, your old passport and a pen for filling in forms. Everything else, like photocopies of your IC and 2 passport-sized photos, you can get it done there. At least, the branch in Subang has a booth for those things.

My gf (who is a China Chinese) went to do mine. I never had to do anything or move my butt for mine.

So I would say yes according to my experience smile.gif

I have a cousin who's visiting me in Beijing next month (I work in Beijing, by the way). With the Olympics coming up, China has tighten its visa policy. I just wanted to hear from those who have applied for tourist visas at the embassy in KL. How difficult was it? My cousin lives in Penang and has tried calling the embassy a few times but the number was either busy or nobody bothered answering. Would appreciate anyone who could answer some of the questions that I have below:-

a) Is a same-day visa still possible? (I understand there's an express processing fee)
b) Are these documents all that I need? (hotel booking, round trip air ticket, passport, photo and form)
c) I saw somewhere in another thread that a bank statement is now needed. Can my cousin just photocopy the last page of her passbook showing the balance amount? Or will she need the bank to print out a detailed page showing all the transactions? I'm assuming the original passbook is not needed for application, right?
d) I also heard that the validity of entry date is now 9 days??? If her flight to China is on July 30th, this means she could only start applying on the 21st? Is this true?

Boy they really make life difficult for everyone, huh?

In order to smoother the process you have to write a letter to comfirm the visit of your cousin. Ask your cousin to attach the letter, your contact details, bank statement (min RM2K latest balance), return comfirm ticket and latest visa application form (form downloaded from website not update). Normal visa cost RM30, express 1 more expensive. Validity date very short bcoz China gov not encourage visitor to visit China during Olympic times.
Hope tat's help

Hi thank you for all the good advices. If she's staying in the hotel, can an email confirmation be sufficient? She already got the email from the hotel that shows her confirmed booking during her stay in China. Or do I still need to invite her? She's not staying at my place though.

Which part of Cheras? If nearer to KL side, either goto Sri Rampai or Damansara.
If closer to Sg Long/Balakong- goto Kajang

As other mentioned, do check wth the link website..all the detail branches are there:

KL:
Pusat Bdr Damansara + Sr Rampai only http://www.imi.gov.my/Eng/Telefon/im_telWKL.asp

Hie, i got a question.

My passport has expired in the year 1998. I was 12 years old back then. Now , i wanna go holiday overseas, but some people told me i can't renew while people said can.

So, can a passport which has already expired for 10 years be renewed or have to apply new one?

Definitely not. When traveling overseas, your passport has to be valid for at least 6 months on the day you travel. Or else you will be denied entry.

Doesn't matter you are renewing or applying a new one, you are still paying the same amount. At the end, you will get a new passport (with new passport no.) and the immigration officer will ask for your old passport, and cut a corner of the cover.

how to bring along with your passport while your passpor already missing?? you need to make a police report and bring 2 pcs of Photo, Ic & birth cert. You need to fill in a form in which this form need to be declared and witness by Commisionnal of aoth.
After all document ready submit back to immigration and you will need to wait for 1 mths for the investagation and approval on the new passporrt.

Hi, I have a few questions:

- I have an old passport in which the validity died on 21st sept 1996. So if I want to get a new passport, am I actually applying for new passport or just doing passport renewal. Seems a little bit unclear to me.

- Second, I figure this are the documents I need to bring:
- Original and 2x photocopies of IC (Front and back in 1 A4 paper)
- Original and 2x photocopies of Birth Cert
- 2 passport sized photo 3.5cm x 5.0cm
now...
regarding the photo, I read in the FAQ about the issue below:

QUOTE
"I was informed that the Immigration Department would not accept instant photos that were taken at any photo outlets. Is this statement true?
Yes, it is. It is feared that the photo quality will not meet the Department's requirement."

source taken from -- http://www.imi.gov.my/Eng/im_FaqENG.asp

Is this actually true? Just for confirmation.

- Next, it is sort of urgent for me to get the passport. Say, can my wife and I actually get my passport on the same day I apply for it? For info, my wife is to apply for a passport which she never applied before.

- Also, I looked under Forms section of the Immigration website --> http://www.imi.gov.my/eng/Forms/im_forms.asp and saw a form called "Marriage Declaration Letter". Since my wife and I are both applying, do we need to fill it up for our passport application?

- Finally, I'm thinking of heading to Subang for passport application, reading from posts above, I guess I have to head out early in the morning, question is, can I get my passport done on the same day (including collection of the passport itself)?

Sorry for the many-many questions tongue.gif

As for the birth certificate, it only applies to those under 12, where they don't have IC yet, and also for those who were born outside Malaysia.

now...
regarding the photo, I read in the FAQ about the issue below:
Is this actually true? Just for confirmation.

No problem for my case. I got mine at the photograph shop near my house. Worst case scenario, just take new photos at the immigration department.

- Next, it is sort of urgent for me to get the passport. Say, can my wife and I actually get my passport on the same day I apply for it? For info, my wife is to apply for a passport which she never applied before.

Can't comment on that, but there's no reason she can't get it the same day.

Passport is like an international identity card. As long as your wife is Malaysian, the "Marriage Declaration Letter" is not necessary. I guess that is for foreigners. I've never seen my parents filling out that form whey they applied.

- Finally, I'm thinking of heading to Subang for passport application, reading from posts above, I guess I have to head out early in the morning, question is, can I get my passport done on the same day (including collection of the passport itself)?

If you're going to go to Subang, why not spend another 15 mins to go to Shah Alam? Me and my gf got ours within a day, ie submission, then wait for 3 hours.

Sorry for the many-many questions tongue.gif

No problem, happy to help.

Not going to travel any time soon, but Japan is my dream destination...

I have seen the documents needed for visa application in the embassy website...

My question is, is it a must to provide daily itinery?

That means i must provide the daily itinerary even if i have let's say...

- Confirmed hotel booking
- Confirmed flight tickets

Is it? This is because some earlier post in this thread suggest that with these two (along with those mentioned in the embassy website) would suffice....

Thanks for your advice smile.gif

- Confirmed flight tickets

Is it? This is because some earlier post in this thread suggest that with these two (along with those mentioned in the embassy website) would suffice....

Thanks for your advice  smile.gif

my gf just applied Japan visa last week, and basically, she provided everything they mentioned on the embassy website

I came bck from Chinese Embassy Consulate Office (OSK buiding 1st flr) this Afternoon. Lotsa ppl & very long que right now bcos they are closing on 29/9 till 5/10. Arrived ~9:30am & completed the application almost 1PM! sad.gif

Don't worry..they now offer 3mth single entry VISA for RM30 & Double entry -wth 6mth validity now at RM50. However still no multiple entry granted. Waiting time=4days. The office Queing system seems like not so effective so many kiasu guys/ladies jumping que mad.gif

If you're going to go to Subang, why not spend another 15 mins to go to Shah Alam? Me and my gf got ours within a day, ie submission, then wait for 3 hours.
So which one better to go i.e less people/fast? Subang or Shah Alam?

no other chance ... group passport cheaper maybe but still in long term should get your own passport? there's no such things as passport to enter singapore anymore

just want to know I've applied tourist visa for australia mid of this year and I've enter once, just to make sure, this supposed to be a multiple entry for ONE year right? If I want to enter australia again during year end?

just came bck from the immigration center damansara. reach there about 2pm n got my passport by 4pm. the photo taking centers just below the office are however convinient, they fill in the forms and clip everything nicely for you. luckly for me to spent only 2 hours there.

my passport expiring in May 2009.

I'm visiting US end of next month and Jan 2009.

I'm applying my visa soon but shall I renew my passport first since Jan 2009 is just like 4 months away? I heard that if your passport is expiring in 6 months time, they won't allow you to enter right?

if i choose not to renew my passport now, can i transfer my US visa over to new passport in Jan when i renew it?

So for my understanding, it say that all 1st time passport applicant will need birth certificate. Is it really necessary?
I am from sabah and 19 years old.
My birth cert is at hometown and I now at Kl.
I am desperately need a passport in a short while.
What can I do?
Besides that, Anyone have any information about travelling to armenia?
About the Visa application or any other procedures?

Following my last week application of VISA at Chinese Consulate @ China Bank/OSK Jln Ampang, I went & collect bck my pasport Yesterday (They opened Yesterday to cater for long China Day celebration Today till end of the week)...And to my horrified encounter, the centralised air-con was out of order & the system was downed!!

The que at 9:30am is already as long as the one I posted earlier & the staff reluctant to issue any Pasport bcos of off-line pasport. For manual issuing they blatantly announced RM40 xtra for those wanted to bypass the que!! Terrible daylight bribery!! mad.gif vmad.gif

Not only that after queing for 30min, the guard telling us there hv change the policy & requested those queing for payment & not willing to pay RM40 to q @ counter 2!! So buta-buta we que at counter 2. but seeing nothing happened for the nxt 30min, & que getting longer, the guard announced new policy again..we hv to q at counter 1 again to make payment b4 proceed to counter 2 for collection..MY god...my blood suddenly boiled!! mad.gif vmad.gif WTF he's trying to do! We were asked again to q at counter 1 & this time the q getting worst. Lucky I asked my wife to remained at counter 2 & I que-up at counter 1!..& as aspected another 15 min later, they changed the policy again and allowed both counters to pay & collect!! mad.gif vmad.gif

According to regular agents, from all the embassy that the ecountered b4, China one is the worst interm of NO SYSTEM & keep on changing their mind...moreover when I apply last week, ppl jumping que & those staff allowing them to do so!! (I suspect another daylight bribery!!)....

For those intend to apply for VISA to China, beware & be reminded to bring atleast 2 ppl and que-up at diif counters or else ... mad.gif vmad.gif

Yes it's true for those willing to "PAY"....i.e RM30 for the VISA, asking the nearest agent (Located inside the Consulate) to do cost u additionhal RM50..so total =RM80/Visa & sumore for super express, the agent will ask u to top up RM40 for daylight bribe...so it's still up to u to pay... hmm.gif biggrin.gif

Hmm, sharing my China Visa Application :

RM220 for a single entry, apply at Bank of China 1st Floor Opposite Citibank KL HQ. Go at 9.00am and collect at 5.30pm the same day.

No invitation letters or any documents required, just fill in the form and bring your passport and 2 photos will do. Its pretty straight forward.

Me and my friends are planning to go go to Singapore a couple of days. We were thinking of applying for group passport. Just want to make sure that we're on the right track, is group passport valid in Singapore? If it does, is everyone in the group has to go to the immigration office to apply sign for necessary paperwork? Is there anything else we need to get or do to enter Singapore?

Thanks

for studying - how old are you? If you're older than 18, it's not necessary to have a guardian, unless for religious purpose and guardian means only 1, if you have more than 1 family member not possible I guess ..
n guardian visa I don't think they're allowed to work,

btw visitor visa ETA is up to one year but every 3 months you must return ..

if for working visa, I not too sure just go check out the whole immigration site ..

Well, my bro is going to apply for passport soon. The bad thing is he is the first timer (never go out from M'sia before). So, I did help him to browse through the immigration office website. I understand that we could download the form (printed on both side), fill in and then submit.

Besides the above mentioned, any other supporting documents that he has to bring apart from MyKad and 2 passport photos and of course the filled application form? Is birth cert mandatory?

Thanks

Not sure if this has been posted.

Say if your passport expire 1st June 2009 and you want to go Singapore on 13th December 2008. Will the kastam stop you or let you pass?

I heard something about minimum validity is 6 months, yes?

You should know that visa is entirely different than passport...

And yes, Malaysians do not need visa to south east Asian countries except, maybe Myanmar...

Oh missed your query. The RM30 is for single entry only. U can't go in & out wth RM30 VISA. For multiple, I din chk the price but for sure it's valid longer ranging from 6- 1year?.....Nevertheless be prepared for daylight robbery at Chinese embassy..u want fast u pay!! mad.gif

AA put it in for VISA applcation cos that AA website is viewed or used worldwide therefore a responsible airline will always remind buyers just in case someone from China, India or some other countries would find out first before they enter any country that they have booked.

Passpost is DEFINATELY a MUST whenever U travel out of MALAYSIA. Without a passport, u can't even exit M'sia. U can travel to any Asean countries without a VISA n stay there for max 30 days as a tourist. However, one must apply Business VISA if you are there on a business trip. Example if u r an auditor n u r being sent by company to audit a company in Indonessia for 2 weeks, you must get a business VISA.

Final decision about that probably early next year.....now 11 countries are undergoing 6 month period set by the UK government to decide whether each of the 11 countries mentioned will require visa or not....

1) How long does it take for renewal?

2) Price for 32 and 64 pages?

3) Will the passport numbers remain the same?

4) How many photos do they need?

5) What are the documents that I need to bring? Photocopied or original?

Thanks.

Yes, travel agent only charge you RM20-30 as a service fee to apply the visa for you. If you purchased air ticket/travel package from the, they might even waive the fee for you. Usually the approval is instantaneous. However there are instances that approval will be within 48hours. If you do it online, the cost is AUD35 per passport if im not mistaken.

There is no agent who can apply US visa on behalf as you will need to go personally to US embassy for the one-to-one interview. First thing you will need to do is to pay the visa fee at any Alliance Bank. Thereafter you will need to log into their website to choose the available slot for the interview session.

All holiday trip/business trips have to apply through ETA. This can be done either online on your own (cost approx AUD35 per passport) or through any travel agents in Malaysia. Only student visas have to go through the Australia High Commission.

Hi Guys,

icon_question.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

My passport spoilt. As mistaken put inside the washing machine.
I went to Subang Airport to request for re-apply a new copy. .(I m from East Malaysia.)However, first time forgot to bring birth cert. I went again yesterday with my original copy of birth cert and relevant docs like nric, photos and etc .But... when got interviewed by the officers, she told me that what are you doing here in KL. I said working and i rents apartment sharing with friends. Then she asked me for electric bills/ water bills which is under my name? I only rent it. How can it be under my name. shakehead.gif SHe asked how bout the tenant agreement, I've told her that it's not under my name. Next, she asked for my employment letters. As I m only freelance and my company is based on SG. In MY only sales offices and not part of us. Sorry it's quite complicated those office branches.

Is that really sucks Malaysian can't make Malaysian Passport? vmad.gif

What's the difference if I wanna apply for ETA instead of tourist visa to Australia? My family and I planning to go holiday in May. All i can see is that ETA is cheaper than the tourist visa. If i let travel agent in Malaysia do for me cheaper ah?

I'm going to Liverpool end of this May to take a short course (3months) and plan to travel to other nearby EU countries for the remaining 3months since the student visitor entry thingy can last for 6months.

What is the status of the UK visa thingy so far? Confirmed need to apply visa? Or no need?

At the moment, short term visa to UK for Malaysians is still not required. But of course you will be asked a lot of questions and have to show some documentations at the passport control.

Anyway, if applying for visa is a requirement, I'm sure your college (I presume TARC?) will inform you.

u do not need to apply visa to study 3 month at liverpool.
even u go EU country for travel..

if u apply visa ( need many document and a hell long application form u need to fill in online ), u will get a 6 month student visa and u are allow to work part time at uk that limit to 20 hour perweek.
but u need to paid around rm630 for the application of visa, and u also need to apply NI number at Uk that will need around 1 month to approval if u plan to work part time legally.

if u go without a student visa, u will be entering with a 6 month student visitor visa that will be issue at uk airport. U r not allow to work at uk.

Guys, I have a question:

My girlfriend, from KL (now in KL), has to renew her passport as her passport will expire around May. the problem is, by that time she has to be in Miri and will only return to KL at the and of June.

If her passport expires when she's in Miri, she can't return to KL is it? She has to go to Miri soon and doesn't have time to renew her passport. Can she renew her passport in Miri?

Thank you

For west malaysian who work in Miri (or East malaysia), they need to have work permit and enter the state with passport.
Enter east malaysia with IC will only allow you to stay at maximun 30 days.

Anyway, there is no prob to make a new passport in Miri. The imigresen here is friendly and doing nothing cos not much ppl go apply passport everyday. The new passport can be obtained in the next day.

I've mistakenly put my passport into a washing machine. I heard one of my friends said he had a same case like me, and when he went back to redo a new passport, the immigration officer asked him to wait for 3 months to collect his passport because of his carelessness of spoiling the passport. I want to know is there really such thing or the officer juz wan to minum kopi? I've bought May air ticket to Hong Kong and yesterday I heard ppl said like this. I thought want to redo my passport on April but after hearing that case, I think I better do it tomorrow. Anyone has any same case (spoilt passport renewal), pls share. Thank you.

I suggest to redo is asap with proper documentations like photocopy the damaged copy, nric, photo and birth cert. If you can try get some authorise letter maybe will help to boost the speed of redo.

I just had the craziest day...

The night before I had a bad sorethroat and a bit feverish. So I went to see the doc, charged me RM50 just for sorethroat, fever and those cheapo lozanges.

I went to make my passport at the Immmigration at the old Subang Airport. I arrived there ay 8am. I didn't know they would be open at 7.30pm. Argh.

So my ticket number was 1058...and it was 1002 at the time I took the number.

Anyways..I waited and waited..just about at 1003 the system was down....all the way through...

And at about 10.30, they announced that if we made our payment after 12am, we would only get our passports tomorrow.

And I only applied a day's leave and I HAVE to be at work the following day.

And at 10.30am, it was only like 1024 or so, and I haven't even process my passport applications. Great. Have to call my boss to get screwed if I asked her for another day's leave.

OK so fine...now I can't make my Air asia booking ticket flights because I don't have my passport number.

Came back, checked the flights again..it has increased RM200 from the last Saturday that I've checked....

Also, I didn't exactly get my leave approved. I have to go as early as possible to get my passport and then rush to work after that, in some God forsake place (on field).

Anyways...just wanted to let this out...

Hey there...
i got a very serious issue here..
i'm going to Singapore tomorrow. 30/3/2009.
I booked tickets and everything already.

But now a friend told me, if my passport is going to expire in less than 6 months time, the passport won't be valid?

My passport is expiring on 28/9/2009. Means my travel date and the expiry date is less than 6 months.

Is this true? If yes, what can I do?
Please help, thanks. smile.gif

I've never been to China before, and would like to go in the coming May.
I will be going to Hong Kong for a about two weeks and intend to get my Chinese visa there.
(I am currently not in Malaysia now).

But I hear that I have to do it in Malaysia if this is my first time getting a Chinese visa.

I need some clarification about this. I wonder if I can get a travel agency and do it for me in Hong Kong.

Please kindly advice.

Thank you!

It has been discussed in Hong Kong thread & also in the pinned Passport & VISA thread above (I will moved this thread soon to Passport & Visa applications)...From what I was told, u can get visa on arrival but I'm not sure how & where, but also lotsa ppl suggest getting the VISA in advance to avoid any complication during arrival.

Since u are currently in Canada (From your current ip), I suggest you goto the nearest Chinese Embassy & apply in advance there. However not too advance...The visa is only valid for 90days from the date of application...U should apply 1mth in advance...In KL, the Visa is issue from the Chinese consulate office at OSK/Bank Of China building, Jln Ampang RM30 for single entry. For multiple entry..can't remember the rate but it will be >RM200

okie thanks.

I just know that the visa can be applied in Hong Kong if you have visited China BEFORE, but if this is your first time, it has to be done in Malaysia.

Where is the Hong Kong thread by the way?
