My passport has 2 years left but i will be going to oversea to study for 3 years (not sure i can I renew overseas).
Can I renew now or apply for new brand one ?

Say.. anyone know if we need to apply visa to go to UK now (less than 3 weeks)?

Not sure what is the current process now since UK says we have a lot of people who has overstayed.

Very good. I'm glad UK didn't impose any visa requirement yet for Malaysian, otherwise this would be a hassle.
I hate it when some of those bad apples overstayed or jumped aeroplane and cause the entire country to be blacklisted.

Malaysians going to Switzerland DO NOT need visa!

Added on August 10, 2009, 10:25 amOh...if visiting friend in US, you must have a letter of invitation (or email from your friend inviting you over to visit for that 2 weeks duration), return air ticket, letter from your bank and employer in Malyasia.
As long as bank account has enough money to cover for the duration of your stay in US, you are ok.

More important is the US embassy look for things like that you've a job to return to Malaysia or a home that you owned in Malaysia. This is more important than your bank account. If you are unemployed and age less than 60, don't bother applying because they will reject you (high risk of jumping aeroplane...).

I have questions on this one.

a) Is that their place at the OSK building, Ampang area?

b) Besides photo, fee (Rm30) and valid passport, we don't have to provide
return air-ticket or itineary or proof of income something like that, right?
I plan to visit China, ShenZhen for self-tour but no plan of any itineary or plane ticket yet.

c) If apply on Monday, pickup Thursday (4 days later)?

I understand Oct 1st is National Holiday for China and probably the Consulate office will be closed.

What about the following week: From Oct 5th, 2009 (Monday) to Oct 8th, 2009 (Thursday) ?

Any of these days will be closed?

I don't think they'll reduce the price at all. They'll find ways to squeeze more money out from us rakyat.

It used to be passport is valid for 10 years and you can renew them overseas if you're working or studying there.

Now, no more 10 years passport and no more renewal. Must apply new one no matter.
What a way for the govt to make more money.

What happens if reverse is true?

What happens if you're Malaysian and carry Malaysia passports and you entered a foreign country and they
forgot to stamp you. Do other countries ban you due to their own administrative mistake?

Another thing odd thing is, why we still care about the physical ink stamping in days of electronic biometric data entry at the border?
