Talking about food I actually like the peppery BKT! It's more appetizing, but my kids can't eat it.

Other food court type SG food that I like -
The Curry soup based YTF
Chap Fan (considered cheap n good)

Food that I cannot accept -
CKT with black sweet sauce
Fish mee hoon with MILK!

I subcribed that mio tv package.... after few browsing got bored already, can say Astro in Malaysia offered more variety and cheaper.
So many badminton kaki here, u all must look very good....
I stay at Tampines.  Surprisingly, unlike what i read before i came here, people are very friendly here and so many Malaysian...
Maybe i should start by jogging, somewhere down the road like half year + can start learning how to swing the badminton racquet.
Reading is a good choice i guess cause after conversion the books cost around the same here from Malaysia.

I have one question regarding singtel business fixed line call cost.

link as below:
http://info.singtel.com/business/products-...-line#-overview

so my question is, an office fixed line called another office fixed line, the charges is 0.86 cent per 30s,
then one minute is SGD 1.72 ? is my calculation correct? fixed line so expensive?

but my friend told me that for fixed line, the call is free, is he talking about home line?

NOw she ask me go to any clinic to do hiv and xray test.

But I dunno which clinic to go. Any advice?

Hey guys, I've been here in sg for a week now... trying to settle my medical check up but I'm cracking my head trying to think of where and when to go since everywhere is so crowded on weekends! Does anyone knows any good place for that around depot road, red hill or tiong bahru?

I need to do X-ray as well and from the current information I've got, I need to do check up at a gp, then go x ray, then go back to gp... arrrrrrr

I can't go to private coz I can't claim medical checkup bills from company... they're too cheapo to pay me back  mad.gif
*
1.basically once the Pass approved, go sg as tourist, just simply write on white card u gota stay 2weeks, hardly imigration ask such details.

2.then if the Pass require u to do health check (ie xray n hiv), print out the health check paper from MOM- which is given by company who apply the pass for u. (if no health check required, go direct to step 5 below)

3.go to any clinic. Just show the MOM paper (the title on the paper is: Ministry of Manpower, Medical Examination Form), and ask them how much the health check cost. Compare it with few clinic-mostly is almost d same la tongue.gif . it shouldnt cost more than 50$. In Healthway Medical clinic (its a big chain in sg can find in many township) it cost SGD 44.90
No need fasting, just go in the morning. (for xray n HIV)
healthcheck result can be obtained the 3rd day in the morning.
NOTE: ask ur company if can claim. retain the receipt from clinic and claim to ur company account ppl! nod.gif

4.Once get the result, tell ur company immediately. They will update the result tru online to MOM. ( if ur company using MOM online registration all this while)
By the time MOM granted the Pass (which is in my case was on that day itself!), actually u can start work immediately. ur pass granted date will be base on this date. u officially in! icon_rolleyes.gif

5.Go get the Pass card physically (no need immediately, u can do this within few days-week, read instruction on MOM paper).
bring along whatever document needed. ur company should know this matter. usually its ur Passport, passphoto, medical result, and the MOM paper ur company printed out.
They will mention when u can come back to collect the card. it also within few days only.
NOTE: if possible do bring ur own pass photo with white background. They hv shop offer passphoto there, but it cost u like $6 just for 4 passphoto without softcopy.

6.Collect the card, bring it everywhere u go. if go back msia oso must bring this card along with ur passport. From this time onwards, u wont get stamp in ur pasport, they will just scan ur card. rclxms.gif
if want to be able to use the fast line in Sg immigration, u can register ur Pass card in Lavender. (i dont use this option, coz most of the time the normal imigraton line oso never hv long Q)

CMIIW ya, TS hopefully can stick this on pg 1, if nd sm edit n corection oso can

Talking about food, i had pizza hut last week. Totally blown away. The menu choices and the food really delicious. Totally different from Malaysia, more expensive but worth it. If you have kids, they even have kid's menu

If there is one thing i love, it will be Changi's Kopitiam teh C ice. Damn.... i willing to take that bus just to go there for it. So good! Make sure is the short untie that make it.

They told me Singapore is famous for steamboat, i find it simple and not so filling like in Malaysia. Maybe just me.

MOS burger is recommended but there is a lot of restaurants in Malls i find the taste totally horrible. In a hunt for a good laksa, so far i have fail my taste buds.

Anyway, I was referring to ACCA holders who do not have degrees. They suffer some disadvantages because they have no degree. Even ACCA sees that flaw and partnered with OBU so that they can remain open to secondary school leavers as candidates.

The issue I see with professional qualification holders, in particular ACCA holders from Malaysia, is that they think they a have reached the pinnacle of the profession. They have not.

There are 60 finance staff in my company's service center in Sg. 40 are degree holders. 30 have degrees + at least 1 professional qualification. Out of those 30, almost all have a second professional qualification... quite common because all these professional organisations try their best to recognise each other. What surprised me when I came to Sg was that out of those 30, 20 of them had MBAs and other Masters degrees.

Most university students would have done research projects. Those who took honours year (Aus) or did Masters would have done a dissertation or thesis.

Like I said, it's a means to an end. Don't be too enamoured by what you think is a tough experience, and expect employers to pay you for that. Besides working hard, you are supposed to work smart. A kerbau that breaks its back tilling soil each day is not appreciated more just because it is back breaking work. Ultimately, people only care whether the soil gets tilled. If using a tractor was faster and easier, nobody is going to think you're a hero for using a kerbau. Besides other kerbau, that is.

Thanks for sharing, anyway Accounting sector is become so competitive in SG. I guess in future you may need a PHD as to be outstanding. I think in Malaysia, is still the most important how much you can deliver & contribute then the qualification you achieve.

I heard in SG, Charter Accountant at most you only get SGD4-4.5k (Please correct me if I'm wrong). Malaysia you will get RM5-7k, if compare dollar to dollar which is much lower.

I would said, SG is a best place to earn money, but not a good place to live for long term. But it all depends on individual and what you want.

Which type of laksa? Penang, normal yellow noddle or the local specialty Katong Laksa.

I like the Katong Laksa as the portion is not too big as a snack. You only use spoon to eat it.

Depends on what you do and where you do it.

Here's some MNC salary data I posted a while back... pretty accurate for direct employees of global MNCs that are maybe... US$20-30bn or larger.

//forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2506532&view=findpost&p=57780087

The 30 qualified accountants I mentioned in my company's finance service center, their pay ranges from Exec to Snr Mgr/Director.

You must have underheard...
