where is the adventure in that?  tongue.gif hehehe

I will be booking the JB-> KL and KL -> SG KTM ticket though.

After work Friday, take a bus from SG to JB CIQ (train leaves at 23:55, leaving around 9 to 10PM from SG should OK I guess for woodlands jam + customs, need to do a test run one of these days during JB weekend getaway). With time to spare, just lazy around in JB sentral (looks nice like KL sentral from the pics with 24 hours fast food shop - KFC i think)

As for the KL-> Ipoh, Ipoh-> KL ETS part, I will just buy the tickets at the counter at KL Sentral. The ETS trains runs quite frequent and should be able to get a ticket (no public holidays or school cuti so should be safe), worst case LRT to puduraya to get a bus ticket.

The thing I don't like with flight or buses going north is you reach your destination in the middle of the night without any connecting transportation available except taxi or someone to pick you up.
*
Is the JB-KL train actually start from woodland? You might just buy a ticket for SG-JB segment Using sgd then take out your JB-SG ticket when you reach JB. Less transfer.

I've never thought of that. is that cheaper ?
*
I used to buy jb-kl bed ticket with RM at jb then just took SGD $2 train from Tanjung Pagar to jb. Iirc the ticket price is same but one side use sgd while the other use RM.

The plus side was you clear both immigration check at Tanjung pagar at one go. So don't need to get down the train at JB.

I am not too sure how the custom works at JB train station now.

No more train (KTM) service in Tanjung Pagar, KTM line ends at Woodland now.
*
I know that and I stop taking train when it move to woodland. I miss Tanjung Pagar, I used to eat at the mamak stall before boarding the train. Sleep flat on bed till 7 am when I arrive KL then use the ticket to buy commuter train to Klang at promotion price. Walk 5 min to eat Bak kut teh near Klang station before going home.

When i was single and I have the time, I took train because I can do all the above. Once they move the Tanjung pagar station, the bak kut teh change taste and the old Klang bus stop no longer provide the connecting bus . Then it is not so attractive to me anymore.

I bought my force saving cum insurance plan with my second month salary. About 30% gone, then live with the balance. Share room with 2 people then twin sharing later, older estate room are larger than new hdb. $2 dinner at pasar stall etc. It is doable for freshies.

Seriously, please buy at least medical/hospitalization insurance and upgrade your medisheild if you have one. Please do this during your fittest years say around 20s. There are saying, can die but can not fall sick in expensive places like SG.

Buy it even your company provide one because you never know what will happen when you change jobs or when will the company fire you during your long MC.

If you are main income source of your family, you need to buy "a few years of your current income" just in case you need some time off to recover from health issue. Your dependent will have enough time to adjust for the lost of income.

Have you see young people suffer from critical illnesses in your workplace?

how's bus stop service? do anyone find it inconvenient at time?

Use the local apps like street directory. You can check arrival of any bus at any bus stop. Use that to plan your time.

i feel so not welcomed here sad.gif

even my aunt say things like

"singaporeans hate u all foreigners now, even the government also on the singaporeans side now."

"dun ask for too much, got any job then do already."

"dunno how to walk, want to fly already."

sad.gif

Your aunt will never be consider a true blue Singaporean. At best a FT Singaporean like some sport players. Even you aunt win a gold medal, many local will think she is still not Singaporen enough.

PR pay more to the gov for less subsidy and zero benefits when there is any bonus. These Sinagporean should be thankful to PR for not diluting their bonus share. If Sinagporean alone are capable to fill up all the demanding jobs here then there is no reason why the Gov NEED to bring in the FT since long time ago. So don't bother these anti FT talks.

PR don't buy HDB with gov subsidy. They only help Singaporean to be richer by buying their HDB at higher markup price. They should blame their ex minister for linking the new HDB price with resale price which make the new HBD unaffordable to young Sinagporean.

I really don't mind going to JB every week for a U-turn.
It's just that after the U-turn my MIL face the risk of not able to re-enter SG.
*
Once your MIL LTP expired, apply a new one for her with your PR status. Before your MIL's white card expired, bring the passport and white card to ICA and ask for Extention with supporting doc which indicate she had previous LTP and you are applying a new Pass fir her. Iirc they can give max 90 days Extention.

They will update your white card and you don't have to make a trip to JB.

My salary is SGD 900, But I still managed to save half of it every month and send it back to my parents. Those who are earning more than me, surely can save more.
*
900 Per day, week or per job?

Security officer, cleaner can earn at least 1k per month. Time to switch jobs?

Talking about food, i had pizza hut last week.  Totally blown away.  The menu choices and the food really delicious.  Totally different from Malaysia, more expensive but worth it.  If you have kids, they even have kid's menu

If there is one thing i love, it will be Changi's Kopitiam teh C ice.  Damn.... i willing to take that bus just to go there for it. So good!  Make sure is the short untie that make it.

They told me Singapore is famous for steamboat, i find it simple and not so filling like in Malaysia.  Maybe just me.

MOS burger is recommended but there is a lot of restaurants in Malls i find the taste totally horrible.  In a hunt for a good laksa, so far i have fail my taste buds.
*
Which type of laksa? Penang, normal yellow noddle or the local specialty Katong Laksa.

I like the Katong Laksa as the portion is not too big as a snack. You only use spoon to eat it.

Just did a tour around KK area. PKR presence is so weak here compare to BN and one local party. Felt neglected. They only won 1 seat last time. No ceramah, no campaign so far according to dad. Why they not attacking stronghold and fix deposit of BN?
*
I saw on online a pic of how PKR leader was 'carried' back to the plane when he touch down KK? How to give ceramah when the police ack like gxxxxxx?

Medisave is your own CPF saving for medical expenses which are not covered by your insurance. It has a max cap at 40+k and a long list of withdrawal restriction.

Medisheild is your compulsary medical insurance paid by your CPF money. You buy a standard coverage from Sg gov by default but you can change to medisheild plan provided by a few insurance companies. Just upgrade yours to a private type with RIDER plan, no regret.

Why so many students, elite and kuli from Malaysia (and from Philipine) came over to SG if our country can provide equally good education and career opportunity? We have plentiful of resources, much larger land and sea area and more people?

We need smart leader and a whole crappy civil service in Malaysia to keep this thread going till v2020.

Or else we might have to move back to our home town earning good money, our kids playing safely with their cousin at playground and having dinner with all our family members.

Hisap ganja kah?

It must be nuts to wake up 5am for daily traffic jam at CIQ to get to school and work. Stupid to pay for COE while I can buy another new car in Malaysia for the same money. Crazy to sell a bungalow in Malaysia just to pack our family in a HDB. Spending more time with our phone instead of our home town Kaki at mamak stall...

All this just to show off our x2.5 saving when we retired back home?

Thanks for voting the right leader.

+1, and yet there are still some ppl in here fail to differentiate who is a right and and wrong leader.

Anyhow it's a double edge sword.

Vote right leader = RM2.00 to $1.00

Vote false leader = RM3.00 to $1.00

We all started using same currency before PAP split with BN. 50 years since, the rate went from 1.7 when I was schooling till current 2.5.

Only drug addicts believe RM will forever weaker than SGD because every 5 years the drug dealer will give them small dose of excitement an they will never see there are other capable people being denied a post at top leadership. Some of these capable people have to work in SG's MNC to live like a king in his own country. They fail to see that in MNC if you can't deliver, out you go.

No need to talk politics here la. Go to the right thread for the right discussion. Just keep this one open for discussions on working life in Sg. You can show your political ideologies elsewhere where you might be appreciated.

it ain't fancy like yours, but it is real. so why not let people know it ain't going to be rosy for everybody?

My first pay was $1450. I live like Bangla until I save enough for the housing downpayment. Never complain as I know the reason to endure some hardship in the early years.

I am sure your uni never teach you real life is tuff. It get worst when you are easily distracted just because you do not have a long term goal.

As a foreigner here,if you think these are your destiny and you do not have the determination to take real action to improve yourself despite your current "suffering" then you should really think seriously about moving back to Malaysia before you get depression.

Just pick yourself up and show to those who look down on you that you are not going to victimized.
back home, we were discriminated because of religion and skin color...what we did was to move here to be appreciated.
if this company does not appreciate you, find another that does.
just understand this...discrimination will happen no matter where you are.
*
And keep voting "wisely" for the same old threat and discrimination.
