QUOTE(nicknick @ Mar 3 2013, 12:06 AM) Just a quick clarification guys. I'll be moving down to Singapore next Saturday. Was wondering if I could bring in my used electronics such as Mac Mini and Xbox or do I have to declare it at the customs? any problem in declaring ? It's not that difficult actually, go to red lane instead of green This post has been edited by Mackiddo: Mar 3 2013, 12:54 AM

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Mar 5 2013, 06:24 PM) There are bad apples from everywhere. Not fair to generalise the East malaysians... yeah. just too bad that the recent group involved in the merciless fatal attack of a local is all from East Malaysian. QUOTE(Laine @ Mar 6 2013, 11:00 AM) we are planning to buy our dinning table, bedframe and sofa from Lorenzo JB. not sure worth the journey or not since we do not have a car and we will be hiring a "driver" to bring us around, one day $300... hiring a royal car with driver is much cheaper than that. Just give pm Lester1987. I believe he could help. I last time bought from Lorenzo also, knew the owner's daughter. . special discount

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Mar 6 2013, 12:09 PM) Neither. Should be banging table and ask boss for higher pay to go back to EP. no boss will gonna pay you higher just to satisfied the work pass minimum requirement. if they raise, they gotta do the same for locals. in the end, increased in operating cost.

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Mar 14 2013, 10:06 AM) About the same. In KL I believe it's about 2.8k now. For SG.. I think it's about 2.5k + 16% Personally, if you still have exam papers to go, take it in KL. Otherwise you can go SG. SG has no study leave/exam leave for you. That's not true. My company grant exam leave for those company related/approved courses.

QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Mar 14 2013, 12:02 PM) This kind of company can leave asap. Good company should encourage the employee to upgrade themselves for employee's own future. Best company is they sponsor your course, without any obligation. Normally study/exam leave 3 to 5 days per year. company should encourage their employees to upgrade themself. My Co do sponsor those company related course. I think a 2 years bond for sponsoring a diploma/degree $20k and above is quite reasonable.

QUOTE(yhoong12 @ Mar 14 2013, 11:50 AM) Not really actually, if they grant you leave for study or examination, how they can guaranteed that you will still wok in the company after you complete the study, i do think company take this in consideration before they provide exam/study leave. a good company will retains an employee by good pay and benefits. not worrying about people leaving.

QUOTE(almeizer @ Mar 17 2013, 11:03 PM) It will be difficult to get job in regular Company for fresh graduate, not to say OnG company. Not really that difficult . Having a honours degree(s) or two from a top Uni overseas would be a good start. QUOTE(yhoong12 @ Mar 18 2013, 09:11 AM) Find Job in what company also hard, sometimes due to several reason: - your expected salary is higher than they intend to offer. -your qualification is not enough. -your university is not recognise(singapore company doesn't know all malaysia private and local uni, just few top listing)
just saying doesn't mean what i say is correct, i could be any of it or maybe more, coming down to SG for job hunting is quite efficient as you be available anytime, but the thing is you must give yourself at least three month as normal room for rent is minimum three month, unless you backpack. maybe you can try job market online search first. see how the market going now before you decide anything That pretty sums it up

QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Mar 18 2013, 04:35 PM) Guys so about how much is a master room or a room with a toilet cost in Singapore after nego??? QUOTE(yhoong12 @ Mar 18 2013, 04:40 PM) There are no such room with a toilet other than master room in singapore. normally the price listed out is fixed due to the market price control and nego is not a option for you, just prepare a minimum SGD900. Not much nego. You see the place today don't take, tomorrow gone already didn't know the rent went up so much nowadays QUOTE(JohnJon82 @ Mar 18 2013, 05:01 PM) From HDB website, think this one just come in after the Budget recently. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « http://www.hdb.gov.sg/fi10/fi10323p.nsf/w/...at?OpenDocumentGuidelines for Renting Out the Whole Flat Citizenship Flat owners who wish to sublet their flat must be a Singapore Citizen (SC). Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) flat owners are not allowed to sublet their flat.
Guidelines for Renting Out Rooms Eligibility Conditions: Flat Owners
1. You are allowed to sublet your bedrooms if you own a 3-room or bigger flat. No prior approval from HDB is required for subletting of the bedrooms. However, flat owners who sublet bedrooms in their HDB flats will have to register with HDB within 7 days of doing so. They are also required to notify HDB when they renew or terminate the subletting of bedrooms, and when there are changes to their subtenants' particulars. Flat owners must comply with HDB’s subletting rules and regulations.
2. Owners of 1 and 2-room flats are not allowed to sublet their bedrooms. Never say anything about PR in renting out rooms. So mean don't affect? renting room criterias is the same for SPR and Singaporean This post has been edited by Mackiddo: Mar 18 2013, 06:46 PM

QUOTE(r1v3r @ Mar 19 2013, 05:27 AM) Is the JB-KL train actually start from woodland? You might just buy a ticket for SG-JB segment Using sgd then take out your JB-SG ticket when you reach JB. Less transfer. I've never thought of that. is that cheaper ?

QUOTE(ThanatosSwiftfire @ Mar 19 2013, 08:58 PM) I just wanted to rant here after just a few months of working here. One thing I somewhat came to a conclusion to is that I will go back Malaysia after a few years. I dunno about the rest of you, but the lifestyle here is so much of a pressure cooker. I feel stressed at everything. Going to work is stressful. Trying to find a place to eat at Raffles is stressful. Finding a seat is stressful. I think I'm having issues coping with the generally high stress levels of Singapore. funny coz I don't really feel any stress. Probably it's a temporary thing, you'll get used to it in a while.
