anyone been to Pulau Ubin? thinking of going for a day visit on either Sunday or Monday. Just cycle around enjoy the greenery and settle for some seafood lunch.
*
Went there 5-6 years ago. Feel like normal kampung environment in Malaysia. Some small temples, dogs running around, wild boar, fruit trees. Few lakes formed by abandoned quarries and some small beaches. Dirt road but not hard to cycle around. A lot of mosquito and with the recent dengue fever so hot better bring repellent. The seafood is not good...

Can try Pengirang or Pengalang, Johor. Rent a bike from Changi then bring it to the boat. Seafood much nicer. Nothing much to see except one ostrich farm.

Mind to share what is the salary range for Chartered Accountant?

If you were rich, there is plenty of place great to live. Eg. India & other 3rd world countries, you be treat like a King, live in mansion with dozens of slaves.  thumbup.gif
*
Seantang already gave the range. I only have one CPA friend, around the manager pay as partner in a local firm.

Maybe guys are different. At least here I don't need to worry about ragut or motorcycle come smashing my window when driving, or the worst - rape. No thanks for India.

possible to survive but live a poor life cause saving will be your priority.
I think for new ppl planning to come here, be ready for de walk, you walk and stand and walk everywhere cause you wont be able to afford a car yet. Really i thought staying near the mall is beneficial, man am i wrong. Too near to take taxi and walking with 4 bags of groceries is not really fun. Do you have friends here? If you dont, you better think up a hobby fast cause every time you go out is money.

If i am you and i can find a job that pays me 2.5k above in Malaysia, i would rather stick to Malaysia tongue.gif

p/s : refer page 1 for cost of living and start saving, your first month deposits will be a shocker.

rawrr i am such a ranting b**** today

QUOTE(ilineZ @ Apr 8 2013, 05:12 PM)
1.basically once the Pass approved, go sg as tourist, just simply write on white card u gota stay 2weeks, hardly imigration ask such details.

2.then if the Pass require u to do health check (ie xray n hiv), print out the health check paper from MOM- which is given by company who apply the pass for u. (if no health check required, go direct to step 5 below)

3.go to any clinic. Just show the MOM paper (the title on the paper is: Ministry of Manpower, Medical Examination Form), and ask them how much the health check cost. Compare it with few clinic-mostly is almost d same la  tongue.gif . it shouldnt cost more than 50$. In Healthway Medical clinic (its a big chain in sg can find in many township) it cost SGD 44.90
No need fasting, just go in the morning. (for xray n HIV)
healthcheck result can be obtained the 3rd day in the morning.
NOTE: ask ur company if can claim. retain the receipt from clinic and claim to ur company account ppl!  nod.gif

4.Once get the result, tell ur company immediately. They will update the result tru online to MOM. ( if ur company using MOM online registration all this while)
By the time MOM granted the Pass (which is in my case was on that day itself!), actually u can start work immediately. ur pass granted date will be base on this date. u officially in!  icon_rolleyes.gif

5.Go get the Pass card physically (no need immediately, u can do this within few days-week, read instruction on MOM paper).
bring along whatever document needed. ur company should know this matter. usually its ur Passport, passphoto, medical result, and the MOM paper ur company printed out.
They will mention when u can come back to collect the card. it also within few days only.
NOTE: if possible do bring ur own pass photo with white background. They hv shop offer passphoto there, but it cost u like $6 just for 4 passphoto without softcopy.

6.Collect the card, bring it everywhere u go. if go back msia oso must bring this card along with ur passport. From this time onwards, u wont get stamp in ur pasport, they will just scan ur card.  rclxms.gif
if want to be able to use the fast line in Sg immigration, u can register ur Pass card in Lavender. (i dont use this option, coz most of the time the normal imigraton line oso never hv long Q)
CMIIW ya, TS hopefully can stick this on pg 1, if nd sm edit n corection oso can

Thanks for all the feedbacks, guys.

In the end, I've decided to do check up near my place and go for xray at redhill polyclinic tomorrow and then go back the the clinic near my place... So tedious.

I have another question though.

During my application for EP, my company used my old passport number. Before I came to SG to officially start work, I renewed my passport and naturally, my passport number has changed. The reception at the clinic I went to, expressed her concern about my different passport number and she said that the government might not approve my pass or might make things difficult for me. I don't have my old passport with me now but I do have a FIN number already. Would that be sufficient when submitting my results or picking up my pass?

I hope you guys know what I'm writing. I'm quite confused myself. lol

Other food court type SG food that I like -
The Curry soup based YTF
Chap Fan (considered cheap n good)

Food that I cannot accept -
CKT with black sweet sauce
Fish mee hoon with MILK!

Sure it is... if you rent a room, take public transport, eat cincai cincai, not the restless/easily bored type and don't buy stuff (not much anyway). And if you wanna have a gf, better get one who likes going to food courts and going Dutch.

Most Malaysians who earn ~S$1750 usually prefer to stay in JB where the equivalent RM4500 goes a lot farther.

Depends on what you do and where you do it.

Here's some MNC salary data I posted a while back... pretty accurate for direct employees of global MNCs that are maybe... US$20-30bn or larger.

//forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2506532&view=findpost&p=57780087

The 30 qualified accountants I mentioned in my company's finance service center, their pay ranges from Exec to Snr Mgr/Director.

You must have underheard...
*
Thanks for the sharing, sound like too good to be true. Not sure my friend is under paid or he didn't know the real market rate for Chartered Accountant.

But SGD4.6k for graduate & SGD5.7k for exec?? Probably it is for Singaporean, not for foreigner (Malaysian)?

A friend was a Assistant Manager in Malaysia, but never heard he getting SGD10k when work in SG, probably getting half of it only (SGD5k), and he work in a MNC & having a hectic work life (work>12hours a day).

first of all, what kind of job that offers you this salary ?
if fnb line or shift work, i think u can save a lot because for sure you will have one meal in the hotel.

So , renting will cost around 600 dollar + transport to work 120dollar + makan 300 /month = 1020 dollar
so.. u save like 600 simply .

all you need to control whether are u a smoker ? if yes , another 200 dollar.
hobby or what u do during off day is important cuz that will determine whether how much u save the money.

Hi.. i am currently working in sg for three months.. i have received another job interview invitation which the job that i felt more suitable and interest... but i dun know i should go for it or not... if i resign in such short period will it be harder for me to apply work pass next time? As i am holding e pass now..
Hope to get opinion here...
Thanks....
*
actually if i were you , i will go and try . u must know that u want it doesnt mean pple will want you end of the day.
so.. no harm to give a try...

so far .... i never heard of this issue as long as the company that hire you really wants you .
as u are holding e pass doesnt mean the company can get u e pass......but as long as ur salary grade is above 3.5 will be safe .

Haha, because the way malaysia put the figure wont be <1 cent (for 0.86cent), seldom i see got the zero in front, maybe i too used to it and seldom read all the way, i really thought is 0.86 SGD.haha

anyway, i didnt apply for it, because recently heard some staff say the phone bill cost alot, so just asking to see why it is so much. tongue.gif
