Anybody has their asus routers set on scheduled reboot?

I used to set my AC68U to reboot 3 times a week, and after rebooting both my 2.4/5 GHZ wifi will go haywire and all my devices wont be able to reconnect. Have to manually restart most of the time. Hence I reduced mine to twice a week, and still the same issue. Any idea on what's wrong?  I have home automation which relies on the internet connection so it's really troublesome to wake up finding that they are not working due to the router.
*
I recall that the scheduled reboot feature also made my AC68U's radios go nuts, forcing me to manually reboot the unit. Had assumed that this was a bug in the Merlin firmware.

I now only manually reboot if there is an issue or after I update the firmware. My router runs 24x7 otherwise.

I used to reboot my non-asus routers previously too. Bad habit thanks to my old dlink and tplink routers.

My AC68U so far runs for multiple weeks without issues. Daily reboot not required ha ha.

Bad habits can kill! biggrin.gif

My exp, no need reboot unless problem with modem, unifi.

Or when updating firmware.

Hi,

Recently bought the rt-ac58u to replace the dlink router provided by TM. I am facing intermittent WAN disconnection. Sometime after few hours, sometime after almost 1 day since the last connected session. There is no problem with the DSL it seems (the DSL light is on). I have raised to TM few times, they also reset the port for me but still the same. Could this be any setting on my Asus router?

Any Asus router is able to support Time 100Mbps but will suggest you to get a good router that is dual band and support AC. You should state your budget.

Hi dkoh703,

From the log I can see there is a message saying the "Serial link appears to be disconnected". This mean there is a disconnection from the modem side.

Jan 10 22:02:47 pppd[2788]: Serial link appears to be disconnected.

You can try changing the cable between the router and the modem first.

And can you save me the full system log? Because you mention it disconnected quite often.

Thank you

Hi Asus MY
IT is all Asus router RT-AC1300UHP,RT-AC-58U,RT-AC1200G+,RT-N18U, all can support IPTV from TM STB Box?
I ask TM there say STB use different VLAN to play there are no lagging on IPTV,but when i download use fullspeed
the screen will become lag,my own router is RT-N12D1,maybe will change the router the selected

Got a question is IGMP Proxy and IGMP Snooping want to open when use the IPTV function? rclxub.gif

Hi hiha123,

Yes, all our router support HyppTV.

You can try do monitoring by log in to the router and in the Network Map, you can see the Status at right. Try download using full speed and monitor the CPU and RAM usage on router GUI and see the HyppTV will lag or not.

You no need to do any other changes on the IPTV tab beside selecting the ISP profile.

Thank you

Hypptv service is not supposed to lag or be affected by the usage of the main internet plan. This is because, TM has reserved an additional 20Mbps just for Hypptv services. This 20Mbps is separate from the subscribed plan. So one could max out internet speeds and still watch smooth Hypptv channels.

Sure, if TM's stock router isn't working out for you and you can't get a decent free replacement from them.. Then by all means, feel free to replace it with your own router. As AVFAN has shown, the RT-AC1300UHP is a capable inexpensive replacement. For my 30Mbps plan, I'm still able to satisfactorily use the supplied C1200 despite crowded network conditions associated with high-rise buildings..Been able to make it work as I want it too.. Well, except for buggy ipv6, which is more of a TM issue.
