Well from your post I guess you just want the money right? Then you should aim for contractors. High pay, lots of offshore time.

I'm sitting right beside an SLB specialist now. He says that the hiring has slowed down much but still can apply. Two ways: Career fair ( mad.gif if your uni is sucks and they dun want to come) or hand directly to HR or online application (careers @ SLB). Try others like Halliburton and Baker. Which pays solidly well for jobs like logging, directional drilling stuff. Just keep in mind corporate progression may not be there with contractors if you fancy yourself earning huge bucks later in life wearing a tailored suit. Anyways for OnG, you have to prepare yourself to relocate to ulu places such as Kemaman or Labuan. Or if overseas then desert etc.
*
yeah ... all the OnG is in the ulu ulu places (labuan and miri might be better than kemaman though) if youre in the field, that is .. if youre in the corp office then lucky la but it will probably be years till you get there (assuming you start from the field) or you might not even get there at all sleep.gif

even if youre placed overseas, you'll probably see more of the airport and heliport than anything else unless you pandai pandai arrange youre flights

I think they are.
Than again they need to work consistently offshore to earn the big bucks.

Nope, some people trade smaller paycheck for better life balance. Which type you like?

On your question, this means you know a HR person working at the company.

Higher Salary due to lower supply of wellsite geologist + living allowances - living expenses = yes, richer than working at office.

Asking the shell staffs directly where u r working is better I suppose than asking here and Shell should have parking lots allocated for staffs free of personal expense either via expense claim, coupons or reserve lots.

Also, pay for one day car park won't hurt you more than your upcoming salary income. Don't be cheap.

I still remember my intern days. Toll RM 15, Petrol RM 30. Daily commute from puchong to Bukit beruntung. All expenses beared by my own. basically, there is not even enough $$ to cover all the expenses. Well what to do. I was there for the experience and it was worth while.

Try DIALOG E&C, their electrical & instrumentation was lacking manpower when i was there. But you can expect to be thrown right into the job with little or no training beforehand. You'll have to pickup as you go

Really? Have you tried hard enough? A friend of mine got offer from ExxonMobil Refinery in Melaka, but he turned it down and went with the offer from MOX. He's also a Chem Eng grad, but that was 4 years ago.

have you thrown 300++ of cv? have you go to more than 20 of interview? if not you should to...that the hardship of fresh graduate to secure job today...my advise determination make you find works harder...not every company will be looking into your CGPA...as long the company know you have the right attitude.. nod.gif yes some company prefer connection but others no....and if you have start the work in the future try ask all your colleague how many of them secure the job with 'connection' probably not even more than 10%..good luck.

It depends, if u r specialist in other geological field, u also can earn more money,
for example, sedimentologist, palynologist, geochemist, micropaleontologist, biostratigrapher and bla..bla...
These job only working at office,..

But sometime if u required to go to well sitting as wellsite biostratigrapher , also can earn bigmoney,
From my experience, 1000 per day... rclxms.gif

Do u meant to say he got MOX 4 years ago? or he is 4 years experiences? I wonder why he turn down exxonmobil..Mox only specialize in gases, maybe because MOX is nearer to city.
Hard enough u meant like ..

if that , u guys were rite maybe im not trying hard enough. But most/all oil n gas job ads i saw only want those with 5years and above experience. Do you think i should send in my resume regardless of what exp they want? and 300cvs, is it hard or soft copy? which one do u think company prefer? For starting it is not high pay im looking. i even ok if they just pay me 1.5k. What important is to gather as much experience as possible while im still young.
