GUYS.. I am lost here n i seriously need help. icon_question.gif

OK.. Listen well plz. I m currently working as M&E engineer in a construction company. Been working there for 6 months. Now, with that little exposure, more than definite i can assure that i dont belong there. Considering the harsh environment i have to work in, all the dust n not to forget our beloved " HOT HOT SUN ".

Now i really wish to venture into O&G industry. But before that I need to have a proper understanding on the work scope of
i) Project Engineer
ii)Sales Engineer
Both "sounds like" my cup of tea.  hmm.gif  smile.gif

Anyone who holds key to my question are feel free to enlighten me. Please provide opinion for these two position from the view of O&G industry.

p/s : Duno want to work as maintanance engineer, operational enigneer and etc.. NO more hot sun and tough work plz. I prefer work smart rather than work hard. A million thanks in advance. Right now, everyday i struggle when i carry out my work. Eventhough i m obligate to work for wat i m paid for but i really have no interest in my work.

PLZ HELP ME OUT..

Jhnzr, if pointer is 2.69.. what's the chance of securing a work on an oil rig?
*
well man..if you wanna be in top big five service company such as Schlumberger,Halliburton,BJ,Baker,Weatherford its quite hard because they are looking for 3 pointers freshgrads at the beginning..even some of my friends got 2.99 still been rejected...the reason is they expected that 3 pointers candidates can be a fast learner while doing the job and won't fail any kind of training school provided..for instance in Schlumberger, even there are some Schlumberger field engineer trainees were terminated during the training because they failed the exam.

but no worries..you could try and i think most of local services company would consider something with that pointer..but sorry to say that person would be the last to arrived..simple word..last option..my advice..just give the hit..and try your luck..all the best to you...you are welcome to ask me anything about O&G..f.o.c..

well..it depends on your skills, aptitude and still...attitude..and also business needs...to be considered as 'experienced' is really subjective..the most important thing is your capability to cope with the work with very minimum training or supervision when joining the new big companies..don't worry about working with small local company as long as you could have very good skills where people won't have any doubt on it...in fact to tell you the truth...most of my friends working in petronas as an engineer and some are senior engineer..they still 'zero'..just busy with trainings, meetings, facebooking and chatting...bla...bla..while in the meeting they tried to be a hero but they don't realize how badly other people laughing at them because of their dumbness..that's what you called 'experienced'?

i think will be around 3.0-3.5 range. coz i now is 3.5
hey bro Jhnzr, what is d job scope of a mechanical engineer up there?
*
good..keep up your good study...do harder..push over the limit...feel the pain of studying hard because soon..you will feel the sweetness of it..don't worry about kind of engineering background..once u enter O&G environment or others..u will learn from zero actually..they just need your engineering aptitude and of course attitude to start everything..but keep in mind.. 3 pointers doesn't mean you could be 100% accepted in top big companies..to tell u the story..few years ago during my interview session me and one of my colleague were the only local graduates..the rest 98 candidates were overseas graduates...imperial college, MIT, Purdue, RPI, Manchester, uni of london..bla2..sounds like u are in deep shit, right?but at the end of the final stage interview..just two of us were selected..not to show off..just sharing long time ago experienced..wanna know how i fought for it?..pm me..

it's true that petrol subsidy will be cutting down..
& it's very true that world oil price is increasing..
projected to be at 80-90 dollar /barrel by end of this year..
but, STILL our oil price among d LOWEST in the world even WITHOUT subsidy..
we shud change our mindset..
glad with what we have here..  flex.gif

Bro Jhnzr, sorry to tell u that by 2013, Malaysia will become an oil importer country..
this show that our oil is critically going empty..
we can't compare with saudi or any other oil producer..
saudi's oil reserve can last up to 40yrs..
correct me if im wrong..
tq..
*
the statement "by 2013 Malaysia will become an oil importer country" <--is damn funny man. FYI, even now Malaysia's one of the oil importers. as well as exporter.

From ur point of view, whats te point of executing deepwater drilling now if we are going 2 b out of reserves for the next couple of years? for what its worth awarding Talisman and Carigali 2 blocks in Sabah waters last week if te oil is critically going empty? and what about gumunsut biggie field development plan?

even saudi doesnt reveal the estimated reserves that they have cause they hv to keep it on the low (they have been reporting the same number of reserves from last few years - isnt it weird?ofcos!nobody wants to tell te whole world how much oil they actually hv!).

same goes to malaysia.

cheers!

Hi,

I need help..more like opinions from everyone.
I'm in my final year, mechanical eng. and I've received 2 conditional offers; from exxonmobil malaysia and another one from baker hughes UK.
I'm having a hard time deciding  blink.gif  hmm.gif  blink.gif
I was just wondering, which is better; experience-wise and possibility to progress further in work?
Anyone working with the one of the supermajor and service companies?
