Do u meant to say he got MOX 4 years ago? or he is 4 years experiences? I wonder why he turn down exxonmobil..Mox only specialize in gases, maybe because MOX is nearer to city.
Hard enough u meant like ..

if that , u guys were rite maybe im not trying hard enough. But most/all oil n gas job ads i saw only want those with 5years and above experience. Do you think i should send in my resume regardless of what exp they want? and 300cvs, is it hard or soft copy? which one do u think company prefer? For starting it is not high pay im looking. i even ok if they just pay me 1.5k. What important is to gather as much experience as possible while im still young.

I was trying to relate him to your situation. So, yes, got he got MOX 4 years ago when he was a fresh grad. I think he took MOX because the offer is almost the same as Exxon's. Not everyone is keen to work in an OnG company. MOX looks pretty good and steady.

Nigeria...is hostile. U may get mugged and if lucky, by a pleasant mugger who may ask you politely to hand over ur wallet before he decides to shoot u and run off. Arab Saudi is more of race discrimination by the Arab themselves, which also includes strict muslim laws that might not be favorable for women...what I heard anyway. It is up to individual choices as long as the money is worth the risk.

Ok.. i already have 10 years of Experience in O&G, working in malaysia... Bintulu & Kerteh. Most of the Company here will only hire Experience Worker... 5 years & above... Coz' i have my Junior from my previous company try on the interview with the Saudi company.. they rejected him right away coz' hes only have 3 years of experience.
How i got into O&G.... i was already been sponsored by Petronas during my studies.

I hope you will get into O&G... coz' the Pay is High. Even here.... Malaysian will get the highest Salary Rate compare to Indonesian, Pinoy & Indian. smile.gif

Qatar is nice ^.^ Much better than Algeria and Yemen, at least its a city and you can go out ... they usually have alot of big events there (brazil vs England footie match a couple of months back !) if youre lucky enough to be around to catch it
I doubt i will ever work at Saudi, but my friends there tell me if you're in Saudi all you will ever do is work cos its mega mega busy right now (think 40-50 days in the desert)

Mmm may i know what part of Saudi did ur friend work... coz' where im working.... its was not that busy.... everything was going slow & steady.... And on my off days i can go shopping .. etc at town... AL-Khobar, Dhahran.. it has a Shopping Mall that is 3 times bigger than the Mid Valley Megamall. Or i can go to Bahrain... its just 10 minutes from Al-Khobar. The main problem is the weather... now its started to get cold.... it can go to 5 DegC + Wind. And on June.. it will start to get Real Hot here.... 50 DegC. cry.gif

Yeah, same here.

According to the speaker at the Shell career talk, Electronics Engineering students always get places in their IT side and the chances for them to get a permanent career offshore is like, once in a blue moon.

She (the speaker at the career talk) told me to mention my interest in an offshore job during the Shell Recruitment Day, but she added that the chances were again, slim.

So I was wondering if any of you guys and girls here know anybody who graduated as an Electronics Engineer and is working offshore now. It doesn't matter if they are not working for Shell, as long as they are on a permanent offshore career.

Appreciate your input. Thanks.

Hi, I'm an Electrical&electronics engineering graduate, I went to a Shell Recruitment Day recently but didn't make it.. i was d only EE graduate there, most of d others are from chemical n guess wat, all of them succeeded! I was confident that I could make it cos i did very very well in d 1st round and was gud in d 2nd round of the interview.. d 3rd interview was a technical presentation, and I presented my FYP.. after I finished presenting, one of the three assessors said 'it's very good'.. but when d HR lady called me a few days later to deliver d result, she said that I was strong in all the aspects that they were evaluating (capacity, achievement, relationship), except for my technical..she said that my technical presentation wasn't 'heavy' enough..so i didn't get the job... whereas some of d interviewees there told me personally that they didn't do quite well in d interview.. then i guess it's true, they don't really need EE ppl there..

When you say 36k-48k usd, do you mean monthly or annually? Coz you can dream on getting shot for usd36k per month for a fresh grad even if you were put on the front line you won't get anything close to that. Per annum sounds more likely.

In Hot Zone countries like Nigeria, it would be safer to work offshore than onshore. Oil & Gas areas are more secure compared to textile factories. It's common for armed forces wearing army uniform to raid these places for money and valuables.

The only times you might face gunshots are probably when your helicopter just lifted off or land. You will hear gunshots firing at you but don't worry they aren't that good at shooting distance moving objects.

Moving from heliport to airport is another fun & exciting trip.

Dear folks,

I need some help...
Recently I just got a job in O&G and will be positioned in Labuan. My new employer request me to submit my coverall size for ordering. I have trouble to choose correct coverall size for me as the coverall (Nomex) specification is different from local size standard. I am a guy with 5ft 6inch tall.

So I need recommendation or guide especially from anyone from O&G in this forum whom ever wear coverall from Nomex.
TQ
