If you love those features, my advise is to enjoy those features as it comes with the car and you have already paid the price for it. You should not worry about battery life, etc. Otherwise, you might as well get a cheaper car without those premium features. And most production cars are already run in before it goes to the showrooms. Again, do not be afraid to rev your car. I went 200kmh the first week i got my car. It's a Golf, enjoy it!

Wonder if VW Golf 1.4 TSI's price will depreciate extremely after warranty period?

Don't know man, SA told me continental cars depreciate approx 10% of it's selling price every year. So if you decide to sell it after 5 years, that's 50% gone! Wow shocking.gif

Hmm, then it is free after 10 years? cannot be ...

Shouldn't be as follow: -
say RM150,000 - 1st year
RM 135,000 - 2nd year
RM 121,500 - 3rd year
RM 109,350 - 4th year
RM 98,415 - 5th year

Lets just say that when I sold off my Golf, the depreciation was around 30%

I said approx 10%

Approx = approximately

Meaning of approximately is this: Almost exact or correct

Not exact okay? It's just a rough figure my SA gave me so I have a rough idea of the value. It doesn't mean the car will be free after 10 years.

Omg, I can't think of any one who would logically think that way doh.gif

RM135 for 2 year old Golf TSi ? You won't be able to sell at that price. To my surprise though many VW OTR but its resale value just that there to behold. Sad but truth.

Added on August 1, 2012, 9:29 pmI was surprise too that its value drops rather fast may be because of its 7 speed DSG issues that plagues so many of them ?

Are you planning to sell your ride within this year or few year later ? If not, why are you concern on the re-sell value ? Unless you plan to sell soon, can u look into re-sell value

If there's not much an maintenance issue, I will keep Golf forever. Just like Beetle ...

I ask about the resale value as my Toyota Altis depreciate approx. 50% after six years.

You missed his illustration entirely. He was pinpointing to you that the 10% depreciation should apply on the previous year's resale value. i.e. 3rd year resale value is roughly 2nd year resale value * 90% rather than 10% depreciation based on the car's original price. Hence 5 years later the car does not depreciate 50% but only around 40%.

BravoZeroTwo, 2nd year means 1-year old car, as Mavik has commented...

Even BMW and Mercedes depreciates a lot in value, and what more a VW?

From my research, only Mercedes is able to hold its resale value better than all its luxury marque rivals.

Best to take 3 to 5 year loans if possible, sell the car off by 4 years and at least you should be able to get maximum amount of money back for the next upgrade.

1. Additional info. There should not be issue to crank immediate, but just my own feel-good-factor to wait for the ABS to off.

2. No. I mean, I don't wait / idle my car. I'm the start, ready, go type. But of course, I'll drive slowly at low RPM for the initial 10-15 minutes or until the temperature is >80°C.

3. Also, I go under tunnel / trees / intersection bridges, I don't want the Auto-switch to auto on/off the headlights every now and then. Sometimes syiok sendiri, only manual switch to DRL.

4. Should be no issue with default bulbs. If you take note, the front footwell-lights also same.

5. Yeah, ask SA is the fastest option. Same with me when want to set the low-volume-radio during reverse. Default it switched off the radio. My SA guide me and immediately done.

6. My to-and-fro is 26-27km only  tongue.gif
Maybe RM72.00  rolleyes.gif  Some countries use opposite for decimal and comma.  laugh.gif

saw your post in vw forum. haha dude thats no kopitiam man.

btw, battery life on newer VWs has quite short life span. only about 1 year. many has replaced under warranty. all those lights, on radio while engine off etc are not doing any good for the battery lifespan. my mk5 battery still can use after 2.5 years. battery on BMWs last very long, up to 4-5 years, as it is located at the back of the car. which means less heat. heat is the enemy of battery lifespan.

that's a good one...all current vw'ers should pray for more tax slaps on VW cars...that should help hold used VW prices.

hey guys,
anyone know where is a good place to redo upholstery for Eos?
As you know the Eos sometimes leaks water into the cabin, and when it drips onto the door upholstery, it will "kopek".

Agree. My battery also died in just 11 months! Also bear in mind that Turbo engines generate more heat and hence it will affect the battery life span. Anyway, its under warranty, so just claim! But i think the battery warranty is only 2 years?
