is very diff on the paper 5L diff ....

the claimed figures for FC, as with other manufacturers, are too optimistic.

7.9L/100KM is official figure for mk5, i only got 10.2L/100km for a long average. not sure when i reset that, maybe since 3 years ago. at least for 1 year lah. if cruising 90-110kph; get around 7.7-8.4L/100km; still way off the 5.9L/100 claimed.

someone with the Golf R got 13L/100km when his previous MK5 GTI Stage2+ getting 10L/100km on the same road.

oh..I thought its 5 years.. since it is 10 yrs then should be fine.

another sues, is it a norm for it to get facelifted?
*
hmm cannot say also, i dont think it will be as long as 10 years. usual for german cars is 7 years.
Mk5 is 2003-2008.(03-04 including normal golfs in europe)

eh why la, which model you are getting? the FC is quite good since VW mostly has turbo with good low end torque, coupled with transmission that is efficient, less loss like in autos

since you mentioned alignment, for those who does your alignment at Exquisite Marques or at some premium Sunway Pyramid SC.

Does the technician drive your car 1 round around his workshop/area  after the alignment and balancing is done to do testing?

are there any shops that does not do test drive after an alignment/balancing? hmm.gif

why no passat 1.8  cry.gif

jetta 1.4 same as gofl 1.4?
*
same engine, but somehow for jetta must remove ECU first. the stock jetta is already pretty powerful

QUOTE(SeraphimGecko @ Jul 20 2012, 01:51 PM)
btw, noob Q, stage 1 remap does not require component upgrades right?
for stage 2, what are the compulsory components / parts upgrades?
eg. SSBH...etc..?
*
stage 1 only remap
stage 2 must add downpipe, intake is recommended but not compulsory. SSBH/brakes/suspension are not compulsory, but a welcome upgrade
stage 2+ with HPFP upgrade
stage 3 turbo upgrade; K04 etc

QUOTE(Xirality @ Jul 21 2012, 11:09 PM)
just test drive VW Golf. That power is crazy! What surprise me is the engine only 1.4cc and my City 1.5cc is not that powerful. The dashboard etc quality is second to none, top notch!
*
polo's acceleration will feel much more powerful than city 1.5L, even 1.6 or 1.8L NA cars.
the city is very slow for low speed pickup. toyota's vios/avanza is much better.
the 1.2 and 1.4 engine from VW is powerful because it's turbocharged(1.2L/1.8L/2.0L) and twincharged(1.4L)

currently pakai-ing myvi 1.3... approx 10L/100km

10L/100km for myvi? blink.gif thats damn bad. my daily savvy is around 5L/100km.

QUOTE(Mavik @ Jul 22 2012, 12:41 AM)
The turbo and supercharger makes the 1.4 engine a little more alive. I have driven that engine without the turbo and supercharger, and its extra super duper slow!

limp mode? haha. should have dynoed that car to know how much the 1.4NA engine is producing tongue.gif
and i wouldnt say "a little more" hmm.gif

Thanks for the update bro.  laugh.gif good to know stage 1 no need modification.

Curios, why jetta need to remove ECU ?

Tuners will replace with another ECU for the remapping ? if not, how does it work?
*
ECU still the same. just that a new map is loaded into it. during the process, just connect the laptop to a port below the steering.and wait for 15-30mins to download. afterwards voila.

Bro, do you mean e90 m3 or e60 m5  sweat.gif

anyway.. i did saw a review, the old golf r32 comparable to bmw 135i ..
Golf R need to tune up quite alot (might need to change to DQ500 tranny or manual stick) to muscle with E60 M5 500bhp and 520Nm torque  sweat.gif
*
u can surprise the car in tighter roads or town driving. the e60 M5 is peaky car. need to rev only the power will come. but once the power come, gg.
btw the Mk5 R32 is not that fast speedwise.. only buy it for the V6 sound,AWD and exclusivity smile.gif
stage 1 GTI can smoke R32 Mk5 already.

QUOTE(Royrogers @ Jul 29 2012, 10:42 PM)
I drive a stock GTI and today pandai pandai tried to race with a E90 M5. Kena smoked la. Probably a stage 3 Golf R can take on the M5?
*
QUOTE(Royrogers @ Jul 29 2012, 11:37 PM)
Sorry guys, I meant E60 M5. The one with the 5.0 V10 engine. I really wish I was driving a Nissan GTR at that moment  flex.gif
*
E60 M5 not golf gti league la bro. no need to compare.. theres always a car faster like r3kahsttub said.
but u can surprise the m5 at lower town speeds. the e60 m5 is quite sluggish at lower speeds.
once masuk highway, bye bye already.
but a stage 2 GTI can match E46 m3 until u reach very high speed. stage 3 GTI, around 280-300whp and 400-450Nm, on wheel. not sure about golf R stage 3 though

QUOTE(r3kahsttub @ Jul 30 2012, 12:31 AM)
No matter how fast or how quick your car is, there is always something out there that is faster, or someone with more testosterone.

Truth.

1. Additional info. There should not be issue to crank immediate, but just my own feel-good-factor to wait for the ABS to off.

2. No. I mean, I don't wait / idle my car. I'm the start, ready, go type. But of course, I'll drive slowly at low RPM for the initial 10-15 minutes or until the temperature is >80°C.

3. Also, I go under tunnel / trees / intersection bridges, I don't want the Auto-switch to auto on/off the headlights every now and then. Sometimes syiok sendiri, only manual switch to DRL.

4. Should be no issue with default bulbs. If you take note, the front footwell-lights also same.

5. Yeah, ask SA is the fastest option. Same with me when want to set the low-volume-radio during reverse. Default it switched off the radio. My SA guide me and immediately done.

6. My to-and-fro is 26-27km only  tongue.gif
Maybe RM72.00  rolleyes.gif  Some countries use opposite for decimal and comma.  laugh.gif
*
saw your post in vw forum. haha dude thats no kopitiam man.

btw, battery life on newer VWs has quite short life span. only about 1 year. many has replaced under warranty. all those lights, on radio while engine off etc are not doing any good for the battery lifespan. my mk5 battery still can use after 2.5 years. battery on BMWs last very long, up to 4-5 years, as it is located at the back of the car. which means less heat. heat is the enemy of battery lifespan.

Even BMW and Mercedes depreciates a lot in value, and what more a VW?

From my research, only Mercedes is able to hold its resale value better than all its luxury marque rivals.

Best to take 3 to 5 year loans if possible, sell the car off by 4 years and at least you should be able to get maximum amount of money back for the next upgrade.

Before the 2 years, drain out the battery. Left everything on in the car hehe

also, the ori battery cost RM1200 or more, while another cheaper one that does the job similarly(but slightly shorter lifespan if im not wrong) around RM400. better change before it dies, being stranded definitely sucks

U want golf 1.4 with 400hp? The gbox and engine will explode
U will say "only 28nm?" but trust its not the number. Its how accesible the torque is compared to before

For the crazy hp gain(stage 1 n 2 give crazy torque) u need stage 3.

Why is it called stage 1, 2 & 3? Is it based on output level?

I think it is named that way for easier understanding

been through that road its never ending.
which is why i straight away buy a sports car category car instead of "modding"  laugh.gif

But some cars are meant to be modded. Like the gti.

But too much torque in the gti u will have trouble spreading the power to the front wheels. Torque steer as well

no comment since just 2-3 K, you got extra 10% power without disturbing your engine.
why not?  blush.gif
both  tongue.gif

as your reference. both also 20+nm and 24hp

therefore is ok

Yup 3k for 40hp n 80nm is superb deal if u ask me (stage1)
For na u need to do so much n pay more n gain less than that
Last time dynoed my stage1 gti, 207whp and 325nm only
If u look at hp ull say not much. But my engine is much more crazier after the remap.
Even stock mk6 giving out 200whp and 270nm

QUOTE(zenix @ Sep 20 2012, 07:24 PM)
yup and its easy to do.
though too much of it will skew it too much as a weekend drive.
even up to stage 3 its still a very usable daily drive and fc relatively frugal for the performance imho.

Driven a stage 3 before ? Very few i know. Mk6 never heard stage 3 yet
