how many airbags has this hybrid got? i went to look at it at glenmarie like only 2 or 4 probably.

interior is about the same as the 2.0L other than that no power seat. both look very similar.

Also this hybrid how many CC ah? 1.5 or 1.3?

oh BTW, can the civic hybrid get about 1200KM at least on combined cycle? It should have start stop i presume.

price, is well priced as far as hybrid is concerned. typically hybrid owner will not compare wif petrol version, its no sense to do so anyway.

received my hybrid on the 3rd Aug and has only currently logged in about 300km....on-board comp. indicated average fc is 13km/l with 3 full grown adults and 100% city driving..ie. i've yet to hit the highway with my new ride...nvh is good but the tyre sounds are quite loud, comparable to my old 16 yrs old wira!... :-)

say sifus, can anyone recommend me good honda service centre which do not have too much workmanship quality issues...i'm staying in klang valley and would not mind even going to klang for my warranty service...many thanks... icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm on my 1.5 tank now.
Got 17.8km/l in my first tank.

As far as I can see, HCH has bad fc during bad traffic jam,
Whereas the fc is surprisingly good in highway.
From the midi, the worst fc I got during traffic jam is 12-13km/l, and the best is 23-24km/l in highway.

If I am not mistaken, HCH 2012 is using second gen Honda hybrid technology. The air condition still remain cold during auto stop. There is no dead lock on the coasting speed. You can still purely use battery motor at 110km/h. This come as a little surprise to me as I was told by SA that the dead lock speed is 50km/h.

I read somewhere and did some research on synergy hybrid and IMA hyrbrid, you can't fully say that synergy hybrid is better one. Synergy hybrid is much complicated system compare to IMA hybrid. Higher maintenance cost on Synergy hybrid compare to IMA hybrid. Synergy uses a bigger size capacity battery that could cost twice the price of IMA hybrid. example prius battery can cost less than rm20k to replace compare to honda IMA battery cost less than 10k to replace. Synergy hybrid has indepedent petrol engine and electric motor can go on full EV mode-full electric mode. While IMA can't cause both the petrol and electric motor interegrated into 1. IMA hybrid is called semi-hybrid, when prius synergy is full hybrid.

Therefore it's is true that IMA hyrbid will not save as much petrol as synergy hybrid. However to build a IMA hybrid cost lesser Synergy.

Both has it's good and bad and it's up to us to choose to go honda IMA or Toyota Synergy. To me both are the same, you win something, you loss something. You can't get both. =)

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I do agree with your quoted figure.
I notice that high fc is needed when you start the engine. If we are able to start with pure EV mode, somehow it should have an edge here. Therefore, this is definitely a plus point for Toyota hybrid.

Another thing is during bad traffic jam, pure EV mode should play a big role too. However, it is not true anymore when it's extremely jam (not able to move much). At that time, Prius will also need petrol to charge the battery.

Btw, I do think that Honda may have slightly better fc in highway, as it doesn't have any dead lock speed. It can still enjoy "EV" mode at 100km/h.

To me I again, I think Honda Civic Hybrid is my choice cause the design is so much better than prius. At least I don't have the bulky backside look. =)

To me, 20k++ cheaper (compared to Prius) and better exterior design are the 2 main reasons!

By the way, how does your fc looks like? I saw a few HCH on road around klang valley recently...

Finally found some HCH owners here. I booked mine and will take delivery in Jan 2013.

I have done some comparisons with Insight and Jazz, and found that civic, though Rm20k more suit us more than the above 2.

Main reason for rejecting Insight.... the rear seats are too cramped and ceiling too low. Cant seat any adult taller than 5ft 2in comfortably.

Main reason for rejecting Jazz....still a smaller car, though the ultra seats/flexible trunk space are wonderful. Warranty only 3 years and service...still 5k?

We also thought about the Prius...but RM25k savings can buy us lots of PETROL!

Yes, it is beautiful, larger, star-trek cockpit really shines, but Rm25k more is the killer here....lol.

As we use for 30% town and 70% highway, we think Civic is most suitable for us.

Love and booked the frosty white but hardly see any on the road. Saw a grey HCH at the LCCT airport yesterday. The interior looks classy! The light grey tint really makes the car classier. It is not as sporty as Gen 8, but seems to grow on you. The third time we went back to the showroom...signed up liao...

Hope HCH owners will keep this thread alive to share their experience (any negative beside noise) in here.

Thanks.

Looking forward to my new ride!

P/s: Do you know Prius and HCH are similar priced at USD24k in US? That is why Prius outsell HCH by a mile. In Malaysia, we "save" Rm25k by choosing HCH...that would give me 12500 litres of fuel. Assuming my normal consumption (current waja) is 50 litres a week, that is 250 weeks of happy driving....almost 5 years!

Added on October 5, 2012, 10:14 amWhat is the best tint for the HCH? Any recomendations? As my car is frosty white, should I tint the windows blue, blue grey or the normal black?

Added on October 5, 2012, 5:51 pmI think the new honda will come in 3 sizes, small city, medium civic and large accord...all similar in design.

What is the purpose you buying the car? If for family use( 3 or more passenger), civic will more comfort. I test drive civic hybrid before, pick-up is more power then vios 1.5.
If for sport, sure get CR-Z will more suitable.
I personally looking into civic hybrid, more advance technology(push start,Li-Ion battery....)
hope this info will help you.. biggrin.gif

Not really... You can always switch to "S" mode if you need to accelerate. The fc will still be low if you do not press hard..

Photo can be obtained from this link
http://www.mudah.my/Honda+Hybrid+A+-18570301.htm

Up to date mileage is ~4600km
FC is very much dependent on driver's skill, as well as traffic condition. It won't be good for short distance travel. As for me, I'm getting slightly >18km/l in average..

Any bro here heard that the civic in US is getting the new facelift model in Nov 2012 ?
Apparently the American complained a lot bout the car and give bad reviews on the Consumer Report. So Honda gonna do an emergency facelift to recover back their reputation. So anyone have any news bout whether Malaysia will be getting or not?

Added on October 28, 2012, 11:10 pmAnd by the way.. Any difference between the hybrids interior plastics with the normal civic interior plastics ? Any bro wanna comment?

Honda hybrid sales passes 11,000 mark
Posted on 30 October 2012 - 05:37am
sunbiz@thesundaily.com

PETALING JAYA (Oct 30, 2012): Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has sold 11,472 hybrid cars in the country as at Sept 30 2012, maintaining its lead in the local hybrid market with a 66% share.

Of this total, the Insight model accounted for more than half or 55%, followed by the CR-Z, Jazz and Civic.

"Being the pioneer of hybrid technology in Malaysia with the launch of the Civic hybrid in 2007, we are pleased to see that hybrid vehicles have received positive response," said Honda Malaysia managing director and CEO Yoichiro Ueno in a statement yesterday.

"With the launch of the Insight at the end of 2010, Honda has successfully captured 54.4% of the hybrid market share in 2011 which has increased to 66% as at August 2012."

Ueno also said the Malaysian government's move to fully exempt hybrid models from import and excise duty until December 2013 has helped to drive demand for hybrid cars.

He said the good acceptance of hybrid vehicles became the catalyst for Honda Malaysia to be the first car manufacturer to assemble hybrid vehicles locally.

This is also in line with parent Honda Motor Co Ltd's direction of providing good products with speed, affordability and low carbon emissions.

"Honda has introduced a total of four new hybrid models, namely the Insight, the Jazz, the CR-Z and the Civic in the Honda hybrid family to Malaysians who appreciate the value of advanced green technology.

"Honda Malaysia has led the hybrid market and will continue to lead it by introducing more hybrid models for Malaysians," he added.

Worldwide, the total number of hybrid cars the Japanese automaker sold has surpassed 1 million, but still lags behind its larger competitor, Toyota, which has sold some 4 million.

Will HCH 1.5L under power? Im attract by the elegance look,
confuse which to get, either CR-Z or HCH~
*
Boykidz93: HCH and CR-Z both are using the same engine but HCH is 200kg+ more heavier than CR-Z. Both using IMA 1.5L engine but more powerful than 1.8L Civic. I try tis out, my HCH and 2009 8th 1.8L civic side by side n speed up at LDP highway las few day. 1st 60km/hour is 1.8L leading but after tat HCH start to speed up and leading 1.8L after 100km/hour. I drive my HCH to Berjaya hill las saturday, during up hill, i didnt facing any problem to maintain the car speed and the engine sound very smooth. U wont feel like the engine is "pulling" the car uphill. If u r single, i suggest u go for CR-Z. If u plan to have a family car, HCH will be ur choice. Just my 2 cent. Due to some reason, i had to go for HCH but i like CR-Z more. doh.gif

QUOTE(twins9 @ Oct 5 2012, 08:37 AM)

I didn't get any discount from the SA. No HCH for test driving but tested Jazz Hybrid. Power so so only.
Was hoping that we could get some discount or maybe get some free gifts like:
- Car Visor
- Window Tint
- Car Etching
- Car Mat
- Trunk Tray
- etc

Since we are going to pay so much for the car might as well have some free accessories right?

Yes. Is an ultra sonic keyless system. U just need to keep ur key in ur pocket, u wan open ur car door without pressing any thing to unlock ur car. There is a push start button on the left side of ur steering. The car wont start if the key is not in the car. The door will automatic lock if u forget to lock ur car in 30 second, 60 second or 120 second depend on ur on setting.

The best way to understand more detail about this car is go to show room and ask the SA or meet up a car owner tat u knw well and ask him about the detail. It is hard to explain all the function to u by word at here. blush.gif

Battery lasts about 1 to 1.5km max, depending on temperature, acceleration, gradien level, road conditions etc. Battery mostly to assists, not provide full time cruise support .... biggrin.gif

The problem is that i-mid cant show fm/am/media/song info if using non oem DVD player. So radio screen in i-mid will go blank. Other screen still OK.

Booked my HCH last week and submitted doc for loan approval today. It was the last unit CBU from Japan. Test drive uphill and can feel it is really lack of power. But wat to do this is the characteristic of hybrid vehicle so far available in msia market.

Is it sluggish on Drive gear or 'S' gear? S gear will give more power, also can off eco-mode button

Am really looking into the civic hybrid now, but I am really worried about the battery and whether it will give me problems in the near future, seeing some forums complaining that it's unreliable and Honda doesn't take much responsibility?? The petrol consumption really thrills me but if the battery is gonna cost me inconvenience then it's not worth it. I know there's a 5 year warranty but would they really replace it or take their sweet time to repair and find parts etc?

I also understand that as of now, there are no more CBU Japan, but Thailand instead. Is there really a big difference?

Or should I just get the civic 1.8 and be done with??? Any help/advise soon would be great, planning to get it this week. haha

Technology is getting advance and advance from day to day. From the 1st launch of Hybrid car in Malaysia, Toyota Prius, the battery cost RM14.5K, but today if u step into Toyota service center n interview those Prius owner, changing a battery just cost u around RM7K including installation fees. It is almost half price compare to 6 years ago. For me, the HCH battery now cost RM6Kplus but after 5 years who knows it will drop half price too? And the battery is getting smaller sizes and last longer? I m driving a HCH and i m very sastified with my HCH. It deliver enough power for me when up hill, very low FC when driving highway and fanstic feeling when hands on the staring.

The spec for hybrid is much much better than 1.8, and almost same price, very tempted to get the hybrid but these made me choose 1.8 over hybrid.

- CVT gearbox has less fun to drive
- hybrid, which I worry it will soon be replace buy full electric and hybrid become obselate.

Wanted to get 2.0 but the price is too much different, with additional feature I want on 2.0 is only paddle shift.

hmm, not sure and the most important thing is the cvt gearbox which i dont like about, if it come with manual option like the crz, i will definitely choose it over 1.8s, because its CBU with almost full spec like 2.0s, with 1.8s pricing.

Dont worry, auto-stop only happen when the car completely stop. Turn off econ mode will not stop it if battery not fully charge.
If U dont like it, drive using S-mode. S-mode will disable auto-stop.
Other good thing about S-mode in hybrid, the car feel more powerful compare to 1.8 and 2.0 civic as it get healthy torque 17.5kgM from 1000 to 3500rpm, no need push hard which good for city driving. For petrol engine, U will only get that kind of power after push above 4000rpm.

Complete stop u mean is when the speedo meter shows 0km/h then stop. Mine sometimes stop around 0-7km/h range. I feel weird.

I don't own a Honda Civic Hybrid but I do own a CR-Z. I think the hybrid system is the same. I would say its normal as the engine shuts off once it detects that you are coming to a stop like stopping for a traffic light. So no worries, nothing wrong with your ride

Hey bro... I think v got the same hybrid system. Really feel annoying bcoz it should only auto stop when the car is completely stop. U will feel the car push a little forward if the auto stop activates when car still moving slowly.

The 'push a little forward' feel is due to the IMA regen stop when speed is below 10km/h. When there is regen, the car is under a bit of rolling resistance from the IMA motor. When speed drops below 10km/h, the computer stops the regen, thus suddenly there is no resistance from the IMA motor, so you felt the car suddenly jerk forward as if someone had accelerated.

from my experience, the auto-stop engine will activates when u hit a break pedal + speedo less than 20km/h,
it will shut-off the engine, if u not break hard enuf, then u will experience a car slow moving, but with engine shut-off.
it sill start back the engine if u release the break pedal.

i sometime disable this by,
when approaching t.light/want to stop, while hit slow the break, before the speedo reach 20km/h, i switch gear knob from D to S, then, after car complete stop, switch back to D. then the auto-stop will not activated, tho ur foot still hit the break. biggrin.gif

*
I ma having the same issue too while i pressing break and the speed are below 10km/h, the car will suddenly move forward a bit when the auto stop are functioned. Really feel annoying abt tis feeling. Feel like the car being pull forward n lost control.....even i had pressing the break... sad.gif

6.5km/l is really OMG hahaha ... no wonder u feel 12km/l is good already ... anyway, the advertised consumption is 18~19km/l so , 15km/l sounds more realistic than 12km/l. If it can achieve the advertised consumption then good la

seriously i doubt if it can cuz if 18km/l, it means 900KM per tank... 750KM more reasonable i guess? let's hope no major issues i will encounter with this new machine

Got my car yesterday.

Review after driving 2 days.
1. Fuel consumption definately better than my FD1.8 AS now cruise for 100plus km only drop 2 dot in the fuel bar. Estimate range still can go 600. I am doing 100% town driving. Last time fd town driving (stop and go) from house to work only can clock 300km
2. I feel the hybrid less power than 1.8l. Maybe still new? Everything still tight?
3. When in low speed, engine noise it noisy.
4. The electric yi yi sound quite annoying and ying in another way. Like some cool electric stuff working inside.

After reset my FC on 24/6, have been driving my HCH to work daily + drop my wife to work (kayu ara-SS2-Mid Vally-SS2-Kayu Ara) via kerinchi/Jln Uni. Is this considered 100% city drive? FC not impressive still, only 13.7-14.3KM/L. My SA showed me his Insight clocks 20.9km/L... @@

The Civic hybrid’s air-conditioning system is a little different from the systems in the Jazz hybrid, and the Insight – the compressor keeps on pumping even while the engine is stopped (auto-stop function) when you are at a traffic light or stopped in traffic – generally, this means you will not lose the air-conditioning when you are on auto-stop, provided there is enough juice in your battery pack to power the compressor. In contrast, the Jazz and Insight hybrids only have a mechanically-driven compressor that stops when the engine is on auto-stop, and only the blower functions.

Is this true? Any owner can confirm this?

Yes, this is a correct statement. The air-cond remains cold during engine-stop and my aircond temperature is always set at 28°C.

Yes, aircond is damn cold. I let it run around 23C coz Malaysia weather is hot and the manual say cold temp can keep the battery last longer.

I believe its true however, its limited to the battery juice you have at that point. I specifically tested this during a test drive. It lasted for about a minute before the engine started itself to charge the battery.

i never reset my trip B, my avg fuel consumption is 15km/l since 1st day

got it since last year oct, current mileage at 12k+

FC on highway is good or i should say FC on long distance is good, if 5 mins drive / jam, usually FC at 10km/l.

i drove to work at 6 -7 km distance with usual fc 20km/l (uses highway mainly).

hi all,
i'm new to this forum.

recently, abt 2 weeks ago I hv received my civic hybrid (after a long wait.. yeah). love this shit, good machine but i hv one question tho. when your car is fully charged, how long the battery can last in a standstill (aircond on, radio on, lights set to auto). mine can only last abt 15mins.. until it gets to the last 2 bar and starts to charge back.

When i book the cerato, i was thinking to buy the 1.6 only which cost around 100k. I aint gonna buy the 2.0 due to fuel consumption and my mind set of paying over 100k for a C segment korean car is too much.

After i go test drive the HCH, it is basically 15k extra after discount. The spec also not bad, coz got push start, reverse camera, cruise control, hill start assist and bluetooth to answer phone. Leather seat all standard. CBU thailand. I requested a boot tray from the sales girl. The whole package is perfect and i really want a fuel efficient car consider my ex honda fd 1.8 only can clock 3XXkm full tank in 100% town use. Now i can clock 6XXkm on each tank. Travel between Damansara to Jalan Ipoh everyday. U can imagine the jam.

I think a lot ppl will talk about the tech being offer by KIA is good. But i think the real tech that matters here is hybrid technology. Not to mention if the gov decide the lift the tax examption. We gonna pay more for this car.

I think the spec lose to Cerato is the rear aircond, dual climate control, pedal shift, and the welcome lights. Do u really need those?

Cerato is CKD, i worry a lot click click sound or klok klok sound come later. This happen to my CKD FD. Service center also 1 of the consideration. I never try Kia service center, i dunno how good is the service. I hate those tidak apa attitude from service advisor(when i drive the waja back then)

Hi,

wow! how did you achieve that mpg? it's really amazing.

Do you use the "km/L" indicator, keeping it above the 25km/L range? or keep the light in the green zone? or coasting (accelerate & release accelerator pedal?

thx in advance.

wow! how did you achieve that mpg? it's really amazing.

Do you use the "km/L" indicator, keeping it above the 25km/L range? or keep the light in the green zone? or coasting (accelerate & release accelerator pedal?

thx in advance.
*
yes, but this means i have to drive like a grandma, and coming from a 20yr old thats saying something, i very gently accelerate from stops to decent speeds, on the highway i never pass 120km/h barrier. around town i watch the economical indicator trying to keep it green at all times.. All these was too much to implement on everyday driving la, so my normal driving i would avg 15-16.

I very satisfied with my HCH till now, just some time when raining day, I go in my car start the engine and switch on the aircon, the air blow out from aircon smell like shit, do u guy experience it? Just like wet cloth put in basket few day didn't wash smell......

Second thing, sound proof level still low if compare to Altis or Latio. Especially when driving on bad condition road, dam noisy.

So far my best fc I get is 21.8km/l half city drive half highway. About 9xxkm per tank......

I haven’t got the issue with the air cond but i would like to ask did u park ur car around those grass area, secondly, did u put air freshener in ur car. Honda also got problem with aircond filter. They use charcoal filter. Once the filter absorb the smell until “full”, it will sorta release smell when aircond start. Sometimes under very Hot day, also can get the smell on 1st start.

Sound proof is low but better compares FD, IMO. I will change the tyre to those quiet tyres once the dunlop run out.

Ur fuel consumption is very good. This is my 4th tank of petrol. i still monitoring the fuel consumption, so far each tank is getting more mileage. Hope can reach 7XX this latest tank(city driving).

Hi, has anyone changed the default sport rim on honda civic hybrid year 2012/2013 model as I personally feel its quite ugly.
According to salesmen, the rims cant be change due to the braking energy re-generation features. Appreciate if someone from here can shed the light on this. biggrin.gif

Can change, just remind u the original rim is special design for our hybrid car. Very light weight. If u change other rim, u might cant get the same light weight rim. In our FB group, there is one member change his hybrid rim to BBS rim, which is only 6kg per pc and tat rim cost him almost 6K. together with the tyre.

hi. i am planning to buy a civic hybrid.

just some questions, hope all experts here can help me

1. when buying a hybrid car, do we still need to plug in a charger to a powerpoint to charge the car?

2. if yes, how much electricity does it consume per full charge?

3. also, what would the charges for a normal service cost? would it be higher compared to the petrol version?

Hi vanillatwilight,

Reply in Blue

hi. i am planning to buy a civic hybrid.

just some questions, hope all experts here can help me

1. when buying a hybrid car, do we still need to plug in a charger to a powerpoint to charge the car?

No charger or power point needed. Petrol Engine will drive the Electric motor (house in the engine compartment) to charge the Li-ion Battery Pack (installed on the backrest of the rear seat, hence, remember that now the rear seat backrest cannot be fold down...)

2. if yes, how much electricity does it consume per full charge?

No electricity consume from external source, electric power is "self-generated" & store in the Li-ion Battery pack

3. also, what would the charges for a normal service cost? would it be higher compared to the petrol version?

Hybrid car servicing may include one of these:
a. main difference will be the Engine Oil grade used (0w20), which may or may not cost more than normal grade Engine oil (depending on the brand but normal Engine oil has plenty of choices),
b. Engine oil filter same as normal car, still need to be replaced during oil change,
c. Engine coolant same as normal car,
d. 12V Battery "Lead Acid", for starting Engine initially, smaller capacity & smaller in size, compared to normal car (35Ah compare to 45/55Ah?), may be a little cheaper (depending on brand?),
e. Brake fluid same as normal car,
f. Engine air filter same as normal car,
g. No power steering fluid need to change, as it uses electric-powered steering,
h. Tyre is "smaller" than normal car (195 vs 205?), hence cheaper?
i. Automatic transmission uses CVTF fluid, is different from normal ATF fluid, may be a little more expensive compared to normal ATF fluid, also more choice for normal ATF fluid,

Other additional cost for Hybrid (not for normal car):
a. Li-ion Battery is the MAIN cost, as cost of replacing is high & is monopoly, normal car no Li-ion Battery to replace (but now Li-ion Battery pack can have cost saving with the "extended" warranty by Honda)

Hope these info helps...

Not only better mileage but better speed up too. Once u change to other sport rim which is not light weight rim, u will feel like whole car become very heavy when car start moving from 0km/l.

Due to some reason, i had to go for HCH but i like CR-Z more.  doh.gif

I don't own a Honda Civic Hybrid but I do own a CR-Z. I think the hybrid system is the same. I would say its normal as the engine shuts off once it detects that you are coming to a stop like stopping for a traffic light. So no worries, nothing wrong with your ride

All, I finally found one show room and tested the HCH. The driving experience was ok.

The car is actually not under power. However, one thing though. When I tried to accelerate, the car response was good and went ahead right away. Good torque power I can say. However, after I released the pedal, the car slows down faster than I thought. My feeling might be wrong.

I do not have any problem on the auto stop. I had experience driving a Toyota Prius. So, I do expect this will be the Hybrid car experience that I will adapt sooner or later. Unlike Insights and CRX, HCH aircond remains cooling even the engine is stopped. So this is another plus point.

Another observation while I was driving HCH. Due to the ventilation windows at the back of the seats were covered by the plastic, I heard a loud air suction noises. I asked the SA, why the air suction noises are so loud. He explained to me, coz the windows are still covered by the plastic as the car is the brand new one. It will not be any sound once the plastic is being removed. Is this true? Any opinion from the HCH driver here?

Hi;

The "feel" that the car was not "under-power" could be due to the electric motor-assist during the acceleration. The electric motor adds to the torque of the petrol engine. Find this feature very good as no need to step hard on accel pedal.

On releasing the accel pedal, belief that the re-gen kicks-in, which cause the "faster-than-usual" slow-down effect. You can confirm that if you hv the iMID displaying the flow of the power source (ie from petrol engine or charging of the Li-ion battery).

Yah, the vent should not be cover, not good for the air circulation for the Li-ion Battery package in the backseat rest. Hv not sit on the backseat yet, but seating upfront, either front passenger or driver, don't hear the "suction" sound, in fact, find the ride rather quiet (as compare to previous 8th Gen civic 1.8L).

Hi. May I know whether is there a way to disable keyless smart entry where u just need to touch the handle for the car to unlock? This is because I notice as long as the key is nearby, anyone can just unlock my car.

I went to the Glenmarie branch. In fact the car wasn't the test drive car, but the SA is kind enough to let me drive at the surrounding area.

Erm...cvt is a continuos gear changing ratio while 5 speed only has gear ratios up to 5 speeds. Cvt is use to for better fuel economy.

Had a look at the maintenance schedule of hybrid vs 2.0 civic.
It seems hybrid maintenance is more expensive esp 80 & 100kservice.
Why is that so?

Anyone of you know good seller of Modulo kit, cheap and cheerful. Paint job, workmanship, installation all done properly and nice fitting? Orchid White Pearl color. Some of the dealers don't have this color, they need to mix the paint to get this.

Yesterday I had a long chat over the phone with one of the SA. I got a feeling that they can give as high as RM5k rebate for HCH. Since I have yet to make booking, I do not want to negotiate with her yet. So far what are the rebates / gifts you all get?

I guess somehow will affect, as this is extra weight to the car. I just searched around mudah.my and garage sales, but mostly don't carry the Orchid White Pearl NH-788P paint. They need to mix it by themselves after seeing the sample color of the car. I would prefer NH-788P to be applied.

There should be factory-fitted auto lock. Can select activate by either (1) shift lever away from P, or (2) when speed >=15 km/h. You may want to check it out again?

2) when try to accelerate or press pedal can hear  like metal 'tak tak' sound.
3) when go through uneven road or little bump sometimes can hear 'kong' sound from the front.
*
Looks like I have the same 1) and 3) with you. 3) is very hard to duplicate and it comes just once in a while.

No need do anything.

"zzz" electrical sound & tyre noise is normal.

Not everyone will hear, notice or bother about those sound actually. I can listen, my wife say she didnt notice & so all passengers (some even ask me aback, what sound?; some say, oh OK nothing much.)
Unless U carefully listen & compare noise level wt other car that got good NVH.

Haha.. Zzzz annoy me more. Sound like electric circuit or something..
When I ask in forum end of last year or early this year, nobody know real answer. Maybe bcoz it still new at that time.

Lastly, from net search that I found.
The sound happen when some sort of dynamo system charging the battery when we decelerate or brake.

Tyre sound annoying? Can change to a better tyre. If that still annoy U, put better sound proofing. Solve problem.

Sound proofing will not solve the problem entirely but it will significantly reduce.

Based on experience, usually it would not void warranty & the cost is depend on quality. Can be hundreds $ up to thousands $. Ask audio shop.

The cheapest way to reduce the sound entirely is using "ear plug". Just like F1

Occasionally I heard that 'kong' sound too...especially cornering or braking hard on uneven road....
I guess it could be the vsa or abs working....? I maybe wrong

After my first service...
1.The electric sound is normal. Charging of battery sound.
2.The "tak" sound when accelerating is Abs relay. (If I remember correctly what the foreman said).
3.the car underside is uneven cause is anti-rust.
4. The "kong" sound sometime when uneven road or bump cannot be produce when the foreman test drive the car with me inside. He said if still has the sound just go back anytime and they will try to solve it.

I find after engaging the S gear acceleration better but car feels heavier.
Any speed limit to S gear...ie not to exceed what speed when S gear is engaged?
Any idea bros?

The only time i put in S gear is when lots of driving involving lots of stop. Dont really like the autostop..lol

The spoiler look so ugly on HCH. I still feel the original ducktail is the best for our HCH. 9 gen HC are look more to elegant and mature compare to 8 gen HC which is look more aggressive and youngster.

Hi all,
Anyone of you facing this problem before? I was driving my car for 1 week already, and just now it was a massive jam at Jalan Tun Razak. Out of sudden, the LCD panel shows "Check Brake System" with 3 indicators lit on.
1. Yellow (!) beside the speedometer: Check warning
2. Red (!) parking brake light (beside RPM)
3. Yellow (!) on the left of parking brake light (beside RPM)
There was no feeling of the car being pulled by brake, as in brake system jam. Still driving as usual but the warning light still there.

Updated:
Upload a sample of picture from internet. The wordings in the white box are replaced by (!). And those are the lights that lit.

I have updates again on the issue of my car.

Restarting the car cannot solve the problem.

Starting the engine, all the 3 indicators lights will be turned on, basically driving experience still as usual.

However, the car is unable to engine auto-stop AT ALL. Next is, the 'zzz' sound that previously appear only when slowing down or braking, now is almost ALL THE TIME, acceleration also can 'zzz', cruising also can 'zzz', slowing down/braking definitely 'zzz'. Tomorrow will bring to SC to see what is the problem.

Maybe I found the source of my problem. It may come from my bonnet..cause I notice sometime when I close my bonnet gt the kong sound...like the 2 long metals on the top part of the bonnet inside knocking each other. It may be this

Any updates after check with SC bro?
*
Updates, yes there are.
1. SC checked and it's brake sensor faulty. Ordered spare part from Honda Malaysia, ETA no idea. rclxub.gif
2. This brake sensor faulty leads to another issue after the engine won't auto stop. The new issue is whenever I hit brake for a few seconds (traffic light or jam) then it will show "Check IMA system". However IMA charging behavior still remain as if nothing happened.
3. More electronics problem. Driving halfway suddenly appear "Keyless remote not detected". Take out from pocket doesn't work, unplug the key and replug in also doesn't work.

Lets see if there are more to come.

Bro, does the problem rooted from when your braking behavior too frequent with autostop during the traffic jammed?
Sounds like Honda should give proper explanation on this.

Thanks for sharing.

I stay in Jalan Ipoh and work at Jalan Tun Razak. Definitely a lot of braking due to massive traffic jams. However the sensor gave out in just 1 week? Omai.

I dun think this is an issue as I drove quite rough b4 1k km. I even emergency brake once. If honda car can't even drive rough I think no one would but it right? Think is his car is defective. Honda should have a good explaination

Guys another issue....do check whether u have it or not.....
When closing the power window...for both front windows...do u realise at the end when the windows are all the way up, the side door interior as shown by the red arrow sort of straightened or moved. Likewise when u wind down, it relaxes or bend back to its original curvature.
Anyone facing similar issues?

Congrats bro.....u gonna like it....just like how I enjoy mine;)

I tok got auto side mirror fold already....why need to install?
Auto door lock....not sure the price, but heard from one accessories shop guy....not many ppl want to touch the hybrid cause lots of electronic stuff in it.
U can try shorty...goggle on pedal lock lowyat and look for his contact, he may give u some insight into it.

Try to drive more, the fuel gauge more accurate after u have covered more distance...say like 600km above...

1) no side mirror turning lights
2) No bluetooth audio and telephone hands-free
3) fabric seat
4) No side airbags
5) No smart entry and no push start button
6) no cruise control

but civic hybrid i dun like is the boot space....very small

Hahah....so bro no ikea trip with our HCH....
To add on to your points....torque is the same as 1.8 for HCH so for normal driving as good as 1.8 but with more features as you have mentioned

2.0 was also my consideration seriously...though budget a bit high. However, finally decided on HCH becauze its CBU, and tax exempted. So if in future the tax and duty for car are reduced, we the HCH owner won't feel the pinch...get it?

I think 1.8 no reverse camera, because initially the CBU Japan unit doesn't come with reverse camera and the bluetooth audio and telephone hands-free. It's when CBU Thailand unit only offer this 2 extra features, correct me if I'm wrong. Personally think that choosing Hybrid is better than taking the 1.8 as same torque power but lower FC plus a lot of extra features thumbup.gif

Haha...yup agree...after all without tax exemption on hybrid the price should be much higher.

Btw...
1) if I change the high beam headlight to HID or white bulb? Is it illegal?
2) is there a wiper casing or the wiper is design like that? When change wiper need go honda only?

Exact same reason why I decided to go with HCH.

Also like to note that unlike the Insight and the CRZ, HCH aircon stays cool during auto stop. Too me at least its a deal breaker. Pay 100k ++ then sweat my ass off during during jam meh?

So Far no issue.

I tend to under estimate how far to go forward during parking and that's about it. (last time drive Vios)

Went to install my mugen body kit earlier.

Nice bodykit...btw...have u tried driving with the stock rims that came with the car? Compared to your sport rims, is it lack of power now? Cause Honda told me before the stock rims is designed lighter specially for civic hybrid for better power since it is 1.5L on a civic body.

So Far no issue.

I tend to under estimate how far to go forward during parking and that's about it. (last time drive Vios)

Went to install my mugen body kit earlier.

Bro. mine only do the body kit.

One with the sport rims is park next to me.

Actually i also have the same question about the sport rims. didnt manage to catch the owner tho that day.

now on my second full tank. ran about 120km today FC is about 15.8km/liter.

Better than my first tank, but i wanna see if i can get at least 17km/liter than only decide if i wanna get sport rims or not.

he BKWhat is the actual spec for the hybrid sport rims ah? got spec then easier to decide if the changes is marginal to affect FC.

Kalau anyone can get the spec share it here lah... thumbup.gif

Was thinking of the road as the cause because of this article that mention the pulling is due to road design...so in USA or country that drive on right will get the right pull.....whereas I think vice versa those drive left will get left pull...is it true friends?

Can the current owner share what are the common issues with the current model? Is it worth paying 116k for this car?

what are you looking for in a car?
problems,
-the regenerative brake isnt consistent and can get annoying after awhile.
-boot is too smalll

honda is reliable.

Civic Hybrid and normal Civic 1.8/2.0 got different boot size? Civic Hybrid actually got smaller boot size?

I've clocked in 1400km and just did my first 1k service. Now I'm on my 3rd official tank & managed to only get around 15.3km/l on average. I travel alot more on highway than in the city. Average speed around 120-130kmh. Questions:

1) Will the FC improves overtime as I piled in more mileage? My driving pattern is almost similar all the time (not flooring much, maintaining to get more leaves)

2) Where can I get the shark fin antenna for HCH. Any online seller? I can't fit HCH into its parking cover/blanket due to the radio antenna

3) Any recommended bodykit seller with decent pricing? Will the bodykit reduce fuel efficiency due to added drag etc?

Thanks guys. I'm enjoying the new ride and learning to be more fuel efficient as it goes. :-)

Yes, HCH trunk size is slightly smaller than the normal Civic due to the battery cover that protrudes into the trunk space. However, I find it to be sufficient for a weekend-long vacation with family of 4 adults. May have a bit of a challenge travelling with small kids though..

In this case I suppose the rear seat are not foldable to expand the boot size due to part of the boot space had been blocked by the battery cover, no wonder there is hole on side of rear seat had been wondering all the time how the air cond can reach the battery haha

Exactly! You can't fold the rear seats for extra cargo space. Trip to IKEA would be a nuisance. My first thought of the vent was it is sure a weird place to put an aircond vent. Hehe..

well japanese cars are well known for their reliability, so you dont have to concern yourself about that, plus the new warranty for the hybrid battery has been extended to a further 8 year warranty. so you can breath a sigh of relief.

personally, this car has saved me tons of $ on petrol, as i commute a distance of 40+40km per day, this car is most economical apparently on highways. so yea, if youre looking for a stylish fuel saving vehicle that is around 100k budget, look no further, civic hybrid is the choice

Good to know your civic hybrid is reliable and problem free.

Now honda is giving 3k rebate. Other than this what other gifts or discount should I ask from the SA. Do you know the current best offer?

I bought mine early this month from Tenaga Setia PJ, SA gives me RM4k discount, umbrella & smart tag. I could have asked for a tint voucher but discount could reduce down to normal 3k, better take the discount.

Don't u guys need to turn the steering wheel slight to right when driving on the road that's straight but slope towards left?
Occs...if can to drive on very straight n level road.....can steer straight without car pulling left.
If drive at straight road that slant or slope to right....car pull to right.
Guys appreciate if u can observe that when u drive,,,,.and give some feedbacks. Thanx:)

It is not easy to find 6.5kg per pc sport rim that suite our HCH. The original sport rim is super light weight, special for our HCH. Although i feel the original rim is ugly but i dont feel wan to spend few more thousand to change the rim...hehe... blush.gif

Both come from same Hybrid family, i think shud be not problem, but for sure it will effect a bit the FC. Btw, heard from my honda dealer, the new Hybrid come with reverse cam and bluetooth build in and handfree. Did any 1st batch HCH owner upgrade his HCH with those features?

Dear Civic Hybrid owners,

I have one last question before I put in my booking today.

Last night a friend of mine told me that Honda Hybrid will shut down the aircond when stuck in heavy traffic jam or when the car is stationery (waiting for someone). Is this true?

Thank you

hey guys, i'm just curious about the Bluetooth HFT system. now, from what i understand aside the fact that you use it as a handsfree, u can as well use it as bluetooth audio system frm your phone or they called it BTA or something. I've tested using my iphone and yes it works. only one thing, when u play audio using the bluetooth, i suppose at the i-mid display, the details of the song that is now currently being played should be shown rite? But at my i-mid display it shows nothing while the song is playing. i happen to have another car which is the CRV 2.4l and it also have the Bluetooth HFT system. Using BTA on the CRV, both the I-mid display and the the touch screen unit shows all the details from the song that is currently being play. Is this normal in Civic Hybrid? coz i haven't tried using other phone yet. thx

BTA (Bluetooth Audio) could not detect your songs details. But you can use the steering buttons to go to the next/previous song though. If you use the USB cable, then the details of the songs etc will pop-up for iphone. That's what I've been noticing so far.

i had ask HONDA HZN foreman regarding about changing rim even though was HONDA RIM (CRZ, INSIGHT), consider warranty void on your absorber.. but he had told me that, if u really wanna change RIM, max is to increase to 16 inch only.. more than that is nt recommended.. sweat.gif

Good info. warranty void for absorber no problem to me as long as it does not affect the performance of the car.

Are you considering changing your rim? May be someone can share some nice rim for all to consider.

go for vossen rims!
nothing beats vossen,
get original ones and your performance will not be affected because they are forged and therefore extremely lightweight.
