received my hybrid on the 3rd Aug and has only currently logged in about 300km....on-board comp. indicated average fc is 13km/l with 3 full grown adults and 100% city driving..ie. i've yet to hit the highway with my new ride...nvh is good but the tyre sounds are quite loud, comparable to my old 16 yrs old wira!... :-)

say sifus, can anyone recommend me good honda service centre which do not have too much workmanship quality issues...i'm staying in klang valley and would not mind even going to klang for my warranty service...many thanks... icon_rolleyes.gif

Just would like to share my highly satisfied Civic Hybrid repair experience at MJ Motors last Friday.

My front left door had developed irritating loud rattling noise when traveling on the road, particularly on stretches which are in bad condition. When at the traffic light, if a motobike was stop beside my Civic, my left door will be rattling again which would caused my Mom to make a passing comment that even my parents old junk car would not make such a noise!!!..

Hence, i had paid a visit to the Honda Sg Long outlet on early Friday morning to check on what was the problem. The service officer later claimed their techician had removed the door trimming panel and found out the speaker was faulty and required to be replaced.

Upon hearing this, i had doubt on this assessment findings as i noticed my car had never entered into the worskhop bay from what i had observed at the 1st Flr viewing gallery.

Subsequently, i told the service officer to completely remove the side door speaker as i can rely on the rear speakers for my daily listening but he had replied this would cause water to enter into my car during raining time.

Frustrated, i had then make my way to MJ Motors where the service officer there name Afiq had opined there is something loose inside the door and require a thorough inspection.

As i had arrive around mid morning and almost time for Friday prayers, i had to leave my Civic thare and had to call around 3pm to check on the status of the repair.

At 3.45 pm, Afiq had phoned me saying my car is now ready for collection where i had enquired what was the cause of the sound. Apparently, the speaker fastening nuts had loosened and caused the rattling noise where they have tightened it.

Upon collecting my car, the ratting sound has gone away!!!...Yippie!!!!

From now on, i will send my Civic to MJ Motors either for minor or major repairs as their intergrity & workmanship is found to be beyond reproach!!!!

Hi Guys,

can anyone share which Honda Service Centre in Klang Valley that has a tool for checking refrigerant leak?

moreover, have read a write-up about the Recovery/ recycling/ recharge (RRR) machines that is specifically required for servicing hybrid cars air-cond system where it is required to meet the SAE specification J2788H..

reason being our hybrid car electric compressor is sensitive to non-compatible compressor oil that will lead to premature failure of its motor windings...

https://macsworldwide.wordpress.com/2012/03...ybrid-vehicles/

hence, does anyone know any SC that has a RRR machine dedicated for hybrid cars?

reason being my air-cond system is now giving problems where during morning & highway drives is still able to produce cool air but is unable to do so in the afternoon & traffic jam drive...

moreover, noticed my engine idle auto stop now no longer works when the air-cond is not producing cool air...

hope someone can share their experience on this matter...thanks..

finally, my mileage is only 26,0000km (ie. second car used for leisure drive only)

yeap...bought it when first came out in the market in year 2012..

bro Twins10, which Honda SC did you go to as i've read the RRR machine must not be contaminated with residues from non-hybrid compressor oil...

if not, after replacement with new unit, the foreign oil will cause premature failure again to the electric compressor... cry.gif

If your civic hybrid is a fb circa 2012-2013, get rm6k ready....the air con compressor is nearing eol regardless of how many km you drive.  It has a built in sensor...lol..
*
will the new batches of hybrid compressor be without the lifetime sensors? ie. will operate until the scroll plate fails due to wear & tear...

Few routine services involved air con as well which cost me RM500+ extra per year which you might be ignored.

May be this will be the reason as it's not regularly send to SC for routine services.

Anyway, very subjective and merely my guess. Let the expert find out for you.
*
bro, did you notice whether the Honda SC has a dedicated RRR (Recovery/ recycling/recharge) Machine for servicing your hybrid car air-cond system or shared among other non-hybrid cars? thanks..

From my best knowledge, only certain SC have. Suggested you to call Honda Malaysia first to find out the confirmed information before you touch base with the SC via a phone call. This will save a lots of your time.

good suggestion...have tried to submit on-line enquiry form via Honda M'sia website on this matter but keep buffering after clicking the submit button..looks like have to personally call them..

Sifus....similar to blu3hamm3r earlier posting dated Mar 3, my civic hybrid this morning suddenly shown 3 fault notifications - Check Battery Charging, Check Brake and Check IMA System...

does anyone know what is the most likely cause of the problem and if your car had undergone similar repairs, which workshop did you send to in Klang Valley and how much was the cost...

many thanks for your kind reply..

How old is your Civic? Most likely it the hybrid battery. My sister and mum had the civic hybrid both batteries failed with the same error codes. However both replaced under warranty as it happened just before 8 years which is still covered by the warranty.

just to share with other Sifus on my earlier Check System Charging, Brake & IMA fault messages on the dashboard...

upon towing my car to Tee & Tee Auto Electrical w’shop at Klang which took about almost 1 ½ hr from Cheras, a quick scanning for the fault codes by one of the Technician revealed my battery pack had oredi kong….

the w’shop owner, David Tee, had ‘congratulated’ me as this type of failure is much easier to be repaired in comparison to a failed power inverter unit…

in view of my car value is now about $20-25K (for trade-in price) or $35K (for selling price direct to buyer), have decided to go for a refurbished batter pack which costs $3,500 inclusive of labour and 18 months warranty…

repair time took about 1 day and upon driving back to Cheras, noticed the car torque/acceleration is not as responsive as the original battery…need to press pedal lower…however, this situation is not encountered if gear position is shifted from ‘D’ to ‘S’ mode…ie. still as ‘powerful’ as ori battery..

nonetheless, with the refurbished battery pack, engine start-stop performance has greatly improved (ie. compared to the ‘dying’ old ori battery) which is now very smooth / effortless…

first impression upon reaching the Tee & Tee Auto Electrical front w’shop was that it is a typical grease-laden floor w’shop…but surprise surprise, behind that premise is a modern hybrid car w’shop which is spotlessly clean and is equipped with electronic instrumentations…at the front corner is a room which i guess is the electronics repair workstation..

back to the power inverter issue, had consulted with David Tee and his elder brother Mr Tee where it appears a refurbished unit will not be reliable as a brand new unit…hence, only 1 – 2 months of warranty will be given for a recond inverter repair job…

as a guesstimate, a recond inverter may last less than a year, or for a year, or probably more than a year…hence, the Tee’s have recommended to get a new inverter unit if we wish to drive our hybrid car for a ‘longer’ time..

finally, have consulted a repairer named Muslim Meskam from Hybrid Battery Repair Malaysia facebook group and also a workshop called Workshop Tepi Balai – WTB where they had advised the main cause of failure of the power inverter unit is due to its IGBT component..

similarly, WTB could only offer 1 mth warranty for an inverter repair job while En Meskam no longer provide such service due repeated IGBT failures after conducting the repairs (pls refer to below screenshot of his messages)
