Sorry, Cantonese is not a language by the way... its a dialect.
Some people go around bragging "i know 7 languages: English (1), Malay (2), [then starts the dialect marathon] Mandarin, cantonese, hakka, hokkien, teochew, etc."
all of which are actually considered as one language -___-
Mandarin, cantonese, hakka, hokkien, teochew = 1 language!!

*
Actually, there is debate whether they are languages or dialects. If you follow the mutual intelligibility concept in defining dialect, then mandarin, cantonese, hokkien etc are considered different languages and not dialects since the speakers are unable to understand each other.

By the way, how come your sister doesn't know malay?? shouldn't that be essential in malaysia? unless she doesnt live in malaysia.. =/
I speak English, Malay, Cantonese, and Japanese. but i still suck at kanji... any one got easy methods to learn kanji other than asking me to practice writing?? Unfortunately i got no time to practice writing -__- i've got alot of "other" stuff to practice  brows.gif

personally, even if they are not really distinct languages, i still look up to the diversity of the languages people know!
trying to learn Bahasa Malaysia (apperantly not Malayu anymore?) but too lazy... its because of you malaysian people being good at english! tongue.gif

as for learning kanji,
get a cute penpal, and write to her in japanese. this works.

-or-

read more japanese, and kanji will be stored somewhere in your subconscious mind, so it won't be a problem when writing (especially when writing using computer)

get some japanese books, manga would be a good place to start, and if you get advanced read something like Murakami Haruki japanese edition.

Erm if it's your language proficiency test, kinda defeats the purpose of taking the test if other people do the translations for you right? =/

iie, itta koto ga arimasen. Demo...

Basu ga imasen. Watashi wa hitori de daigaku e ikkimashita. Hitori de niju-fun gurai kakarimasu.

- this can also write as "Eifuru Tawa wa takakute, kirei desu."

ya, i-adjective when turn to te form will drop the "i" and attach "kute", while na-adjective just attach "de" at the back.
