technically speaking, its Benkyou, since the benkyou ends with a "u" rather than "-"

勉強　→　べんきょう　

べんきょ～ (benkyo-) can be used though, but sounds more childish. some people intend that effect.

the thing is, there is no exact suitable word for the idiom-like meaning of "sharing" in Japanese...
if I say the direct transulation of "sharing", it would be "wakeru" in japanese,

"thanks for sharing" -> "wakete kurete arigatou"

but this just means sharing in a physical sense, and there is no implied meaning of sharing an information.

hence I provided a transulation of what would be "thanks for the information", which is "jyouhou wo arigatou"...

コンピュータを使ってタイプする分には良いのですが、
実際に紙に書くとなるとやはり漢字が上手く書けない、というか思い出せないですね。

This is actually a good example of a polite Japanese phrase, except for some minor grammatical construction mistakes.

"nihongo ga dekiru kata-gata ga ippai irassharu nante." would be more appropiate.


"kata" can mean Shoulder, but it also means person(polite)

"kata-gata" is a plural of "kata" dekiru kata = person who is able to.... dekiru katagata = people who are able to....

an example of use of "kata" would be;

そちらの方は、貴方の奥様ですか？
sochira no kata ha, anata no okusama desuka? (is this (person) your wife?)

it gives a more polite impression compared to;
socchi no hito ha, anata no okusama desuka?

mata = again

oai = meet (polite)

dekite =made possible

kouei = an honour (polite, obviously)

I speak English, Malay, Cantonese, and Japanese. but i still suck at kanji... any one got easy methods to learn kanji other than asking me to practice writing?? Unfortunately i got no time to practice writing -__- i've got alot of "other" stuff to practiceΒ  brows.gif

personally, even if they are not really distinct languages, i still look up to the diversity of the languages people know!
trying to learn Bahasa Malaysia (apperantly not Malayu anymore?) but too lazy... its because of you malaysian people being good at english! tongue.gif



as for learning kanji,
get a cute penpal, and write to her in japanese. this works.

-or-

read more japanese, and kanji will be stored somewhere in your subconscious mind, so it won't be a problem when writing (especially when writing using computer)

get some japanese books, manga would be a good place to start, and if you get advanced read something like Murakami Haruki japanese edition.
