The LAN connection is quite consistent but the WIFI connection is damn erratic, up-down up-down like yo-yo.
As per feedback gathered from the past postings, the Thomson router is the only problem, not the fiber service line.

Access the thomson router from yr pc or notebook. Change the wifi channel, u have 1 to 14 to choose from. Not all channels are created equal .. haha.

Hi, I'm a fence sitter here.
So I really need to know user's experience.

Did you mean
"anything as good"
or
"anything as bad"?

Run for your life or you'll hate yourself for subscribing... Imagine problem only after 4 hours installation... And frequent disconnection, a few minutes in between... Even 30 seconds in between disconnection, world record!

which one gives less problems?
im using 4mb streamyx now.
2 years problem free.
so satisfied but my contract ending in september so i need to change to either
unifi or maxis.
*
My advice dun change... Streamyx v.stable and good lately... Mine maxis only good for 4 hours... My friend got unifi 5mbps, quite good... But given the choice, I would stick to my 1mb streamyx

i dunno what you means cannot lar, maybe you say voip cannot use? yes, voip cant use, but can connect internet with my tp-link 3g router..., because i off the maxis router, just on tm modem and tp-link router, still can connect internet...

Added on July 10, 2012, 11:37 pmfinally pick up my phone...

i think is their site problems, the cs ask me off the modem, router, phone, wait few minutes(listen to the song), after that ask me turn on the modem, router, then ask me connect to my wifi, then go to put 192.168.1.254 in browser, then go to broadband connection, select einternet, view more, ask me the connection status, ask me the user id, then ask me remove the password, then ask me put again the password(i didn't change the password), then click connect, can connect to internet, so ? i am sure is their problems...

Finally they answered. I was about to sleep after waiting for 20 mins on the phone. If it was a dude who answered, he would've gotten a verbal trashing. The method she prescribed was like how jeremy described. Call to reset profile and re-enter the password. It's a must to call to reset or it wouldn't work. She said it was TM's side issue as they may screw up some configuration while upgrading. Believed like 5% of it.

No degradation in speed. Thank God.

If it does, surely many people will terminate... Those that stick will face less congestion... Muahahahaha *evil laugh*..

Seriously hope it doesn't happen often.

guys, quick question before installation today..

the connection between the huawei ONT and the thomson is just a normal lan connection right?

if so i can always put the ont in one part of the house and...
1. pull a lan cable to the thomson, anywhere in the house?
2. connect them using home plugs?

any confirmation? would the homeplug work?

first time fibre user here. just thinking of ways to save on non-standard installation

Very good ideal if it does work, instead of paying rm200 to TM contractor, use the money for a pair of homeplug. rclxms.gif

sounds logical right?

a homeplug would just treat the connection between the ONT and the modem as a normal LAN connection yeah?

having said that, a pair of homeplugs would probably cost more than extending the fibre cable by 10 metres, for example..

Homeplug is around rm160, non standard installation sure kena rm150 and up.
But avantage of homeplug is you can move the router any where you like in the house. (provided that it works)

Anyway, you better be sure, you dont want to end up the indoor fiber cable is cut too short and the homeplug option doesnt work.

The best is to pull the indoor fiber cable as far as standard installation allow and instal the router there. Only then you think about the homeplug option to move the router.

we can choose where to drill the hole for the cable from the telephone pole to pass through right?

for example, the pole is right outside my kitchen, but instead of entering through the kitchen, i want them to enter through the store which is another 4 metres away. that way i could probably just make it with the 15 meters internal cabling.

we're entitled for 85 meters external cabling right?

be remember..the 85m is frm FDP to FTB only..
the FTB will be place OUTSIDE the house..
the contractors said it is for future development that need to be placed outside the house compound where they cn access freely..
if from front, at the porch..
then 15m from FTB to the FWS or ATB..
from FWS to ATB is just 1-2 metres of cable to the modem..
that is how the contractors make money..access of internal fibre cables..
luckly mine was only access of 6m..so took 10m, paid him rm70..
