LOL.. then im glad thomson has this firewall thing  sweat.gif

But the updated ping with 59% loss is when i ping the 2nd hop. What does the 2nd hop mean or do? So if this is the case, normally what causes it to have so much loss? Sry dude.. im throwing tons of questions.
*
what u mean second hop, tracert issit? second hop is the second router/server your connection pass thru...

packet loss, normally wifi signal not strong, fiber hv alot of noise, network switch hv collision, router cant handle heavy traffic, etc

btw i just notice I have around 8% packet lost using googledns, opendns is only 1%
now try... ping -t 208.67.222.222 , packet lost less than 4% for me is acceptable...

Hmm.. i followed ronnie's guide http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2441911

or should i ping 8.8.8.8, etc. if for 8.8.8.8 im getting 1% loss for 1 min

CODE
Ping statistics for 208.67.222.222:
   Packets: Sent = 103, Received = 103, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 194ms, Maximum = 225ms, Average = 197ms

btw, take note that the packet loss on 2nd IP may not be a big issue. I don't think the 2nd hop is consistently the same IP.

I used pingplotter (there's free version, but the 30 day trial one gives out a nice graph). You'll notice that the 2nd hop IP keeps on changing. Probably load balancing?

FYI, I think ronnie already identified the 2nd hop issue, the high latency or packet loss on certain ip...
it hv pretty good result, at least we know which the point of failure from our connection...
lets hope ronnie going to call Maxis CS and ask them troubleshoot that particular router/switch

There's a load balance for the router on the 2nd hop after the Thomson router.
- 58.71.244.1
- 58.71.243.137

The reason quoted by LYN user is the Fast vs Interleaved issue on the VDSL end.

Issues:
1) Download speed from rapidshare.com going down to 0kbps after reaching 500kb size
2) Internet sometime disconnect but Thomson router didn't show it was disconnected. So the auto-connect on disconnect function didn't work.

Yeap, it's like they've blocked any downloads from RS. But at Maxis's forum, they'd say like "oh please gimmie your account number we'll look into this matter" laugh.gif
