look like maxis had block file sharing sites like rapidshare and filefactory
downloading 100M+ file always stop or crash before download completed

mediafire and some lesser people use one can download without problem

tried on both private and public IPs
*
ya maxis disturb the download... confirm here...
anyway to bypass it??

i think its better to edit the dhcp pool and assign open dns to clients

dhcp server pool config name=LAN_private primdns=8.8.8.8 secdns=8.8.4.4 localdns=disabled
*
it better to use OpenDNS as Primary and GoogleDns as Secondary...
If you dont know, google like to collect your data sweat.gif

Primary: 208.67.222.222
Secondary: 8.8.8.8

That's a known issue for those who request for public IP(Late informing and without informing).
Just change your account ID from <username>@home.maxis.com.my to <username>@public.maxis.com.my in the Thomson router in order to connect when the public IP is ready.
*
did TS post this issue on front page...
mayb can advise future public ip wannabe

anyway rite now my internet is really not stable, down every 15mins and it really slow...

You forgot to ask about the weak wifi signal ??
As for the dect phone, keep the dect phone base station power on instead of removing the batteries. The station only needs 0.5w to operate.
As you implied, it only cost RM4+ per month and not much money to save but my intention is to save the ENERGY. This has been the value and habit that we practiced in our home to conserve the energy and green the earth.  nod.gif

The whole world is wasting so much energy on standby power.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standby_power

By the way, it was me who posted the energy cost to power up the router and modem. I have a watt meter to measure it.
*
bravo... u have my respect, learning something new today wub.gif

I always tot standby power is amount to 0.0Xwatt, it almost amount to nothing to be specific
coz i remember reading somewhere where the fundamental circuit design it where they use one of the transistor feature to cut the power or amplify the power whenever we need it.

i guessed not every device work the same, especially devices that depend on battery/signal

Installation tomorrow at 2.30pm but no calls from maxis.

Should I call them and do they limit the hotline to office hours?

It's the 1800 number I should call right?
*
they normally will call to reconfirm the appointment few days before the actual installation
if u did not get any confirmation, that mean they didnt process your order (they didnt process my in my case vmad.gif )

u should call 1800 for confirmation, and i think CS work 24x7
call waiting period is up to 30mins most of the time doh.gif

if u delay the installation,
1) u may/may not get a new router
- fyi nobody know wat is maxis decision for this crappy router, most likely will not change!
- not everyone have the problem and some can live with the minor hiccup
2) iptv will be ready by then smile.gif

seriously 118/138/148 for 10MB is hard to beat...

I don't get why people still wan home plug, currently there's so many reliable multi function routers which can perform better that is cheaper than this overprice home plug that I ve read had many problem overheat and does not last long issues.

Some house really need Power over Ethernet blink.gif

Especially luxury condo... coz they use wave absorbing material for their wall cool.gif
I hv personally encounter this problem, where wifi put next to the wall also cannot get signal

Not to mention the RM30 savings each month compared to my current RM150 Unifi! I think I can live with it ..... hmmmmmm ...... unsure.gif

u hv ur point

but dont forget if u buy car at proton's price doesnt mean you get crappy proton...
perodua is a good example

in this case, maxis is considered luxury telco (branding)
most of the time the pricing they set is higher than their counterpart
u wont complain if it were Digi rite?

i can understand why there is high expectation for maxis, while other can accept their crappy service
