ok. installation completed after 90 minutes. i have to say the installers are professional and very straightforward, kudos to them.

speed is as advertised, ping time over wifi isn't that good though, got around 30ms to maxis, u mobile server. (okla not that bad). will have to find my ethernet cable to test over LAN then.

now, how come my torrent isn't blazing fast?
*
Ping to maxis 30ms is quite bad result. I'm still using Unifi VIP5 and here is my speed test result for today:

I will migrate to Maxis FTTH 10Mbps this Saturday 2:30pm.

*
If you want to get sure either you are connected to the internet or not,
try run ping continuously to the internet (ie. to Google DNS IP addres as shown in screenshot below),
you will see "Request timed out" during your internet disconnected.

Internet is connected:

Maxis FTTH installation at my double storey terrace house went through successfully, Maxis and TM installation team arrived half an hour earlier than planned rclxms.gif

Chronology of important date:
June 28, 2012: Register of interest at Maxis website
July 2, 2012: Registration and verification of the disabled in the KLCC Maxis Centre
July 4, 2012: Received call from Maxis for installation date arrangement, unfortunately the installation date on July 12 (it's my working day). Installation date was rescheduled on July 14 (Saturday)
July 10, 2012: Received confirmation call from Maxis about installation
July 12, 2012: Installation scheduled at 2:30pm but the installation team came at 2:00pm and complete the installation within half an hour (because I'm already existing Unifi VIP5 customer)

Below is the speedtest comparison between my existing Unifi VIP5 and new Maxis FTTH 10Mbps.

It might be Maxis DNS server causing issues. The sad thing is, you can't change the DNS on Thomson router smile.gif
*
You may bypass the DNS setting from the router if you are using your own DNS setting inside your computer, no need to change the DNS on the router.

If you still want to change the DNS setting inside the router, you may change it from command line via telnet interface.

nope...the DNS will always lookup based on the highest order/priority

I can't confirm whether the router or your pc has the highest priority
*
Your local dns setting inside your computer always higher priority than setup by network. Please refer to screen shot below:

is there a default password for the maxis internet account?
is the username usually a combination of numbers@home.maxis.net?
*
Default password for Maxis FTTH internet account is username[1]
For example your username is 77777@home.maxis.com.my so your password is 777771

It might be Maxis default DNS which is not resolving these websites. Try and change the DNS server to 8.8.8.8 (I'm able to view the sites you mentioned by changing the DNS).
*
It shouldn't be, because Maxis DNS can resolve that hostname without problem.

i have tried to change DNS either, even the router default DNS...to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
i nslookup and ping the server ip...timeout...

does ip matter with this?
mine is XXXXX@home.maxis.com.my
my ip start from 14.192
*
If you can't ping 8.8.8.8 means your internet connection is not connected/having issue. Please submit support ticket to Maxis Customer Support via email customercare@maxis.com.my stating your issue with your Maxis FTTH account number. You may post to their forum also@https://forum.maxis.com.my regarding your issue.

Same problem I'm facing since Tuesday. Noticed that can't access those websites with IP starting 61.*.*.*

Could you try to access www.yesasia.com? This website also under IP starting 61.*.*.*

Used PingPlotter and at the tracing result, it stop at hop no. 6 at this IP address: 58.71.244.254 (Maxis Server)

Confirmed the website server is not down and functioning as able to reach with Streamyx or Unifi.
*
Something wrong with your account. I can trace route, ping and surf to yesasia.com without any problem. Seems your account only connected to Maxis cloud but can't go to that website.

MaxisBB default password is empty (no password). That's why you can see the admin page without need to enter any password if you go to http://192.168.1.254 via wired connection. You may change this empty password to something more secure if you want.

By the way; if you want to access backup/restore router configuration page, the administrator account level is required. You may login via this URL address http://192.168.1.254/backup.lp?be=0&l0=1&l...=BACKUP_RESTORE using your administrator credential which is working previously. I hope you can login as administrator through this URL address. tq

It's virtual IP of Thomson router for File & Printer sharing via USB port. You may access it via entering \\192.168.1.253 in your My Computer address bar
