Hey guys, a lot of newbie questions.

What is the IP address for the HuaWei optical modem?

Does Maxis Home have a login ID and password like streamyx? (eg xxx@streamyx)

Thanks in advance

Huawei Default IP is 192.168.1.1
Refer to page 1
*
Page 1 doesn't have it, I remember searching for it in page 1 lol.

And yeah I tried 192.168.1.1 before asking and it didn't work.

But I think I gotta set the address at TCP/IP properties.

My experience so far with Maxis Home installation, today.

Took the day off for this scheduled appointment, for 9:30am.

9:45am, Maxis sub con guy came, explained some stuff to me and said we gonna have to wait for the TM guy.

10:45am, TM guy came on a bike. No ladder to pull the cable from the pose. Said his "member" will come with the tools.

12noon, his "members" came. Pulled cable from the pose to my house. Did all the cabling to the room. Cable exceeded 15 meters so I had to pay an extra RM70.

2pm, connected, pretty fast. 10mbps up and down with speedtest and all.

About 2:30pm, line's off. No Link. LED for AUTH and LINK are down. But only left the Maxis guy here, the rest dah balik. Maxis guy called them to come back, they said they're at other sites working already. Guy said he'll come in 90 minutes.

4:30, Maxis guy still around. TM guy not around.

5:30, TM guy said his bike's tayar pancet.

Maxis guy said his supervisor said have to re-schedule.

Knowing the long queue of customers for this RM118 installation, I dunno when the next schedule date will be.

I think I'm just gonna cancel this thing. The RM70 spent cable can be used for Unifi la I guess lol.

Gonna call Maxis customer center now and asked for a cancellation.

After thinking it through, not really confident with a reseller la.

Added on July 25, 2012, 6:00 pmOh ya and yesterday they sent me 4 mails, 4 Statement of Accounts with different account number under my name.

All I did was register Home for the RM118 package lol

I realise that it takes a while for a page to load after clicking on a link. Like 10 seconds or more.

Actually it loads fast, but it's like it takes a moment for it to find the source or something.

Pretty annoying.

hi guys

is it possible for lightning to strike the fiber optic cable?
*
Yeah would like to know too. Since streamyx is copper, I always unplug the phone cable from the router before going out.

Of course not... But your modem/router will spoil if lightning strikes it!
*
The question was, will lightning strikes damage the modems through the cable like how vulnerable copper cables are. You answered "of course not" and then followed with a "but your modem will spoil if lightning strikes it"

That's quite the contradiction there laugh.gif

What router? What custom firmware?
These 2 might be affecting your line as well, it might not be necessarily Maxis.
*
I think it's Maxis since I'm having this issue too during peak hours. During godly hours like 6am, 2am etc then it doesn't occur as often.

14th level, highest in the condo.

33 is not high

if u play dota u'll know.  blush.gif

its depend on which server u try also.

different server come out different result
*
That server that you pinged, I usually get 15, 12 or even 10 with both HOME and Streamyx. 33 is twice as long. I don't play Dota la but I used to play other games like WoW, Diablo 3 etc.

Hi all, i have a question to ask.. I subscribed to 10MB package and  speedtest also showed I got download speed of 10MB. However, when i download files from internet.. I can only get 1MB/s.. May i know why i only 10% of the package that i subscribed?
*
Hi there.

Your package is 10 Mega bits per second. Your download was 1 Mega Byte per second.

10 Mega bits per second is around 1.25 Mega Bytes per second. So your 1 Mega Byte per second is very optimal already.

Issues:
1) Download speed from rapidshare.com going down to 0kbps after reaching 500kb size
2) Internet sometime disconnect but Thomson router didn't show it was disconnected. So the auto-connect on disconnect function didn't work.
Yeap, it's like they've blocked any downloads from RS. But at Maxis's forum, they'd say like "oh please gimmie your account number we'll look into this matter" laugh.gif

You can download from RS? Are you using public or private IP?

Thanks.
