QUOTE(rellik_yzarc @ Jul 8 2012, 11:29 PM) I train barefoot but taking a rest now after running the stanchart 10k (time 49:48) in VFF KSOs. Thank you for sharing your experience. I've been saving money to buy VFF... they are not cheap I can run barefoot comfortably up to 10k. I usually run barefoot at Lake Gardens and KLCC where I am pretty confident that the are minimal risks of broken glass etc. The main issue with barefoot running during races is that you don't want to worry about surface texture and dangerous objects while you race which is the reason I raced the stanchart in VFFs. IMO, efficient running principles do not change whether you are barefoot or shod. However, for running barefoot, the more conditioned the soles of your feet are, the more comfortable it is for you to exert more force while running, and thus go faster. When do you run at Lake Gardens? Can I join you? Would appreciate comments about my running posture from a fellow barefoot runner. I wish i can ran as fast as you... my current pace is around 7 minutes per KM. |

QUOTE(Buffalo Soldier @ Jul 8 2012, 02:29 PM) I guess what's important is the style of running rather than what the runner is wearing. Hence I consider kaki ayam, VFF, Merrell barefoot or any minimalist shoe wearer == barefoot. With shorter and faster stride, means you are running light. Congratz, you are getting there as a BF runner. As for myself, I am also in the process of transition into minimalist running, not really BF. Occasionally I will run BF up to about 3k at a cement rendered track at the taman of my house. However, most of the time I am running on my VFF and MR00, which the furthest I have ran is 15k. But now I am out of action due to ITBFS, hope to back into running in 3 weeks' time.Any changes to your running? I notice when i change to barefoot my langkah becomes shorter but faster frequency. Hope I'm making sense here... hehehe. On another note, I'm thinking of joining Putrajaya Night Marathon (10km) http://www.bsnpnm.com/ Anyone ran it last year? Well organized or fiasco like the Energizer Night Run? There is a BF group in FB and they are very friendly and helpful to newbies: http://www.facebook.com/groups/188450141190827/ This post has been edited by leanman: Jul 9 2012, 04:24 PM |

QUOTE(266K @ Jul 9 2012, 02:38 PM) I smoke 20 stick per day and also a very lazy runner. Manage to finish SCKLM HM, but very slow. 2.45 was my time. Dont know whether the smoking or laziness that contribute to my slow pace hmmmm While waiting for the race to start, i usually puff a stick at a hidden spot while other serious runner is busy warming up hahaha. |
