How do you pace yourself in routes that you have never run before? I worry that if start too fast, then will poncet fast. But if go too slow, later hard to catch up if the road get tougher later.

Any advises for newbies? I hope I can finish in under 60minutes for the nike 10k. No confident but will give my best...

i just checked out your runkeeper logs, pretty good for someone who just started man, also you run at DPC almost every morning, maybe i'll join you instead of going all the way to KLCC park sometimes haha.

anyway Nike run is about 10.6km i believe, i mapped it out, which pisses me off since if it's stated 10km so why add that 600m which is a huge difference mad.gif. so to achieve sub-1hr you need an average pace of 5min39sec, good luck with that!

for me, as a budget runner without any GPS or so on. I will study the map that they given, then use google map or http://www.mapmyrun.com/ draw the map. From there i know until which part of the route is what distance and up or down hill, so just remember the landmark and turn. Then u had the whole route in your mind with elevation, from there u know how to pace yourself..... biggrin.gif
P.S. when u running u feel very relax then u try ran faster abit by bit..... biggrin.gif

10.6km ? Oh god. It's hard to target below one hour now.

Start slow, finish fast.... always finish fast...

Just got my PBIM racekit... the Asics 25% voucher didn't mention the voucher can be used for shoes only... tht means can use on any Asics running products I suppose... too bad there's very little choice for Asics clothing...

To achieve sub60, you must really get to the front pack of the starting pen, else you got so many '000 to overtake and this cost you time. Go there early and quickly go to the front pack of the starting line. I think they issued VIP wrist band which can start in front. I got those last year but not this year. Also got free food after the run last year.

Thanks guys for the pacing advise. I guess I'll have to learn through experience.

Feel free to drop me a message if u want to run at DPC together.

I plan weekends at least 1 run to be 2 hours. If I have strength after Nike run tomorrow, sun morning should be doing a LSD there. Need practice for next week putrajaya night run. I have never run that kind of distance yet unsure.gif

They're selling Injinji, even the multicolored ones. Actually better to get from our own LYNR seller Choi CC (http://ccube-sports-hub.blogspot.com/). Price much cheaper!
