QUOTE(nando @ May 21 2012, 12:02 AM)
i think Gerrard/Carragher were all caught in midst of the political wars during the last years of Rafa...
there were basically 3 camps.... Gillette vs Hicks and somewhere, Rafa was also fighting them (moneys to sign players).
So the whole Liverpool board and management were involved in this war....

Gerrard and Carragher later revealed that they just wanted to stay neutral and concentrate of football (which was very hard).  They were afraid that any show of support to any party (even Rafa) will be used against them

This is why Torres end up tired playing for Liverpool and left. The promises werent met and he cant wait anymore.
Instead of just blaming him for leaving, we shud look to the reasons why he left. I think its becoz of the mismanagement of the club, which he himself confessed i think.

Torres to quit Blue.... whistling.gif

Torres was an unused substitute in Chelsea's FA Cup final win over Liverpool, and he was only introduced in the Champions League final after Bayern Munich took the lead with seven minutes remaining. The £50 million man's introduction at the Allianz Arena coincided with a Chelsea revival, which saw them win the trophy on penalties.

The Spaniard looked frustrated at being left on the bench for one of the biggest games of his career, admitting later that he "expected to start", and now the former Liverpool striker will look for first-team assurances before deciding if it is "worth it" for him to stay at Chelsea.

"It's contradictory because I feel like I'm at a peak moment in my career, with more desire and hunger than I've felt in a long time, but I've had to spend the final on the bench," Torres was quoted as saying by guillembalague.com. "It was a huge disappointment when I saw the line-up, perhaps the biggest in my life.

"This season I have felt things that I never had before. I've felt like they treated me in a way that I didn't expect, not in the way that was spoken of when they signed me.

"We've had a lot of talks and we'll talk about my future because the role I've had this season is not for me, nor is it the one I expected to play when I came here. I'm not comfortable.

"I want them to tell me what is going to happen in the future. Football has been fair on us, on me. Now, I do feel like football is worth it, but I've been through a difficult time. The worst in my career. I don't want that again.

"There's been many times when I've felt lost - I wasn't sure what to do. I felt like I didn't know where I belonged. I'm eternally grateful to my family, who have been by my side, and also for the support of the owners, who have stuck by me, and especially to the fans - if it hadn't been for them this season I would have given up.

"I need the club to tell me what is going to happen and what sort of role I will have within the team, what my duties are, what the club expects of me - and then judge whether it is worth it."

Torres had appeared to be unhappy ahead of the penalty shootout against Bayern and he revealed: "I wanted to take a penalty but they didn't let me."

And yet it was Pepe Reina and Fernando Torres who spoke out.

Weren't there rumours of a dressing room split between the Spanish contingent as well and also the rumours that Carra played a part in ousting Rafa and wanting Hodgson?

Anyways, Guillem Balague is reporting about Torres.

Seems that Torres has been suffering and he has been hurting and felt depressed at Chelsea. Evertyhing seems like a mess to him. Also said something that was promised when he signed hasn't happened (sounds familiar). He doesn't feel belonged and apparently wants to talk about his future with the new manager and never felt he should have been treated this way.

Torres is wounded and hurting. Yes, he won two trophies now but he's clearly troubled at Chelsea. I'm starting to feel sorry for the guy.

Doesn't seem like his move was worth it after all.

get torres to play in liverpool B team for 2 month as punishment when chelsea sells??. cool2.gif

fat chance Roman Abramovich will sell. They are on a high. They are back in CL next season. tough for tottenham. ohmygod the kind of insults the forums of tottenham & chelsea. (in other forums)

Next year, the season will be almost impossible to get back into top four given now that Man City with its title win under the belt, can now reinvest more players. There were commentators that mentioned maybe earlier Man city were attracting greedy players, but because they are now bona fide official winners, things will be different. Top players will be interested. The same goes about Chelsea. they are attractive to good continental players. (damn, i really like what i saw in juan mata, it's just too bad vmad.gif )

Eden is quite possitively to ManU, if not Man city will pry off ManU if hazard decides otherwise. lots, and lots of good continental players will be shifting to Manu, Man city, Chelsea, arsenal, in about such order. sad.gif

blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif
and that would mean every other midtable teams (including us) will be only looking at scraps.

though not too bad as we have done in the past, another finland, scandinavia countries to look out? sweat.gif

Please, Shankly was like 50-60 years ago.
Time changed. And I don't see you can implement the same in modern football.

Just like King Kenny, he had the record win % during his first term as Liverpool manager.
He was 35 years old at the time.  And it's like 27 years ago.

King Kenny's 2nd return, he's already 60 years old.
I doubt you can assume he'd produce the same result.
Then qualify your very Sweeping statement of a 'good' manager.

Plus even times have changed, does it make them 'bad' or abnormal?

Indeed we can assumme nothing, including making those statements about good or bad qualifications
as you have done. biggrin.gif

He wants to play for a good manager that time. And he admired Mourinho thats why he decided not to join Barca in the midway of going there to join Madrid.

Only if he wants to come back. Well he did say he didn't know where he belonged. I will tell him that he belongs to LFC. His mentor is Rafa and he has unfinished business and project with Suarez. biggrin.gif
